it's not, and besides, most of those have little or no music until the thing jumps out at you. Sit through it, it's just a flash animation of various sayings and words...

Meh. It's a boring waste of time. I wasted about a minute and a half of my life watching that, and I didn't even sit through the whole thing. 9/11 sucked. People died. That is bad. It's over. Remembering it just brings pain to those who care. It isn't like the victims sacrificed something for the greater good. Wanting to remember it is just stupid. Pearl Harbor is different; that was the military fighting a war. They at least died for a cause.

I know the incident was horrid and everything, but I think that both the government and the press overdid it. It got old, real quick. Not to say we havn't forgotten, but now the government uses it as its justification to do anything and everything, including invading our privacy, which is one of the foundations of this country.

How the hell could we forget about 9/11 when there was 24/7 news coverage of it 365 days a year for like 2 years after it happened? Not to mention stuff like this keeps popping up. Bah.

Pearl Harbor was not different. It was United states citizens who died for no reason. I suggest you open up a history book and read a few chapters. The US was not at war when Pearl Harbor was attacked. It became the reason why the US got involved in WW2. Pearl Harbor was attacked in an attempt to destroy the US Pacific fleet and keep the US from joining the war.

It's over. Remembering it just brings pain to those who care. It isn't like the victims sacrificed something for the greater good.

No, it's not over. 2,900 people died because someone wanted to harm innocent civilians. They were victims. Minding their own business and living their life like every other day. And that is exactly why they should be remembered. I'd play that footage everyday just to remind people that we were attacked and our own citizens were murdered solely because they were American.

Hopefully if 9/11 is never forgotten, there never will be another one.

I don't need to see that stuff. It ripped my heart out to see that happen to my hometown. Seeing the surrounding streets on the news & vivid memories of being on those streets in peaceful times. I have friends who were there on 9/11, but they all made it. Thank God.
I'll be in the city this weekend, I hate seeing the skyline now.

I have to stand behind AO's excellent post. Those people were civillian victims of a cowardly suckerpunch. It's a soldier/sailor/airman's job to be a target, and so they take care to minimize the target they offer. Nonetheless they chose to put themselves on the line in defense of their country.

But 2900 people who work in an office building like I do; put in their time and earn their money like I do; give to their causes and vote their conscience like I do; those people are not soldiers and they don't deserve to be targeted just because the attackers are too weak to take on our real forces.

So, Josh and Timmotheus, remembering those innocent victims may be taking up your valuable PS2 time or they may have interfered with you watching All Your Base again, or whatever. But I'd bet you'd like to be honored or remembered if you had been killed simply for being an American, any American. I expected better from you, or at least from Timmotheus.

Honestly, if I had been one of the people killed in the TT's that day, I wouldn't want everyone, and their little brother, to have to hear about my death every single day for the rest of their lives. I wouldn't even want my own family to go through that.

Yes. I'm bored hearing of Hitler's mistakes. Skip the whole Holocaust and oppression thing, and he was good for the world. Just a large amount of negative media attention. I don't know much of what is going on, so I'm not going to take direct sides. I do have an observation, though.

I have always been more of a traditionalist in my ethics on behavior. I swear, and am very tolerant, but I am aware, I hope, of classic norms of behavior. But some, notably the young, grow up with the interactions of the school ground, and with a lot of cynicism and apathy. I can understand if these more traditional ethics are not easily understood. I do not know what Josh says, but I wonder, if he is saying offensive things, if it's as a result of his environment.

The military is always at war. They were at least preparing for it. The fact that they died attempting to defend American soil makes their deaths slightly more worthwhile. They will be remembered as dying for their country.

I said that they were victims, if you didn't notice. I also said it was bad. Yeah. The last thing the American public needs is a daily reminder of our government's failings. It is horribly bad for morale. Besides that, it casts a dreary tone on all of the days dealings. Joy is hard to come by if you see thousands of people die each morning. If the footage were played daily, it might actually lessen the effect of the death on that day,because people would become accustomed to seeing it.

That's stretching it, and you know it. Remembering 9/11 won't help intelligence agencies to tell which threats are real and which are dubious.

My scorn was for the way in which that particular memorial was done. Not for remembrance itself. While I don't think that remembrance is a great idea, I don't think it is necessarily a waste of time either. Sorry for the confusion there.
