👍 Thanx Again...UB57:D

care to share those settings?

My issue is that if you are getting settings from others, not advice per-say but "use these numbers" that seems a little out of the spirt of racing. Not cheating but a fuzzy grey line here. We all discuss things here and I have seen alot of advice given and so on but no exact numbers on settings for a given car. Just racers discussing the issue.

part of racing is dialing in your car (or vehicle or whatever) via settings and looking at the course. I also have issues of racing others ghosts to set your race time. I even have issue with following you OWN ghost to set race times (though I do do it). this issue seems less "fuzzy" than just taking suspension/gear ratio settings 100%.

To practice/test outside of the weekly or declared hot laps using all these goodies is fine...but using them, mainly others settings, seems a little too easy and a little grey....

Just my opinion.

Congrats to Herman for taking the quote of the week spot in my sig ;)

You got me waiting to see your sectors now  hurry up man this is nailbiting :scared:

:p

It would be a good point, if there were such a thing as the "perfect" settings.

But there aren't. Settings are generally non-transferrable. What works for one person on one car on one track may not work for anyone else in the same car on the same track.

And UB57 is using settings from a DIFFERENT car, and a DIFFERENT track! It probably also goes without saying he won't have taken them verbatim either.

ya but here is an example....

Say a div 3 racer PM'd a Div 1 racer on Tuesday night for there settings on the car. Said Div 1 racer for gave Div 3 racer his exact settings. Div 3 racer applied them and cut say .7 secs off his overall best time....

Nothing troubles you about that?

Granted driving style and skill go a LONG way, they are most of it. But part of racign is also figuring out your own settins. Div 3 racer with some of their own work may have figured out a decent car setup to cut their time down by the .7secs or maybe more but THEY would have worked on it and learned on their own. Getting some one else, who is faster or more experienced in car setup, seems to be short cutting it.

Now I a a Div 3 racer have PM'd a Div 1 racer for settings advice. Said Div 1 racer replied with his car settings which I then went and applied to my car and ran the race. i cut .5 off on the first lap and more over the next hour or so. I also tweaked those settings to fit my style more and eventually cut a full second off my time. This was all AFTER i had sent my race time to Boom. If I had PM'd div 1 guy earlier and he replied I could have used his baseline settings to win my division AND almost win the next division (on time). Since them I have read about and worked on car setup. I'm still shots in the dark but am learning, the help i got for those settings on the car form the div 1 guy were great, taught me alot and helped me tune my cars since then 9at least knowing what does what etc).

So for testing/practice...great...great way to learn....

There is absolutely no wat to police this issue anyway other than people's honesty 9which i am not questioning BTW).

I see no problem with it at all.

From my point of view, online racing isn't about beating everyone else - if it were I'd be in deep trouble about now :D It's about learning. I can learn from the drivers faster than me. I can teach the drivers slower than me. Everyone improves.

On other sites it's standard policy to post your settings as you go along - and I think I may start adhering to that here (when I run the race). If anyone can learn from what I've done to my car and improve themselves then I've done what I'm supposed to do well.

I see you point.

I think maybe I am too competitive. i race professionally outside of this (not cars either) and it is totally about holding your cards as close to your chest as you can, any little edge you can have over the other guy is good. In a sport where races are decided by hundreths often it all helps. I approach this the same, tough I am slow here in my other sport I'm one of the top guys but it took me 4 soild years od work in testing and setup plus how to look at a course and run it to get where I am now....

Thats why this si so damn fun, I'm learning new things daily on here! Every night they are applied to my GT3 time and I learn yet more things there.....

I would definitely agree with Famine in that my settings probably won't work for 90% of people who use them. That said, I think my settings are getting close to where I want them, producing predictable oversteer when I am careful with the throttle.

My springs are in the mid-range with the front only slightly softer than therear. The shocks are all on 10. A little increase in camber, no toe. Stabilizers on 5. LSD at 5/5/5. ASM 0 TCS 3.

Not a clean run yet and close to 400km on the car..... This combo is really starting to get to me, havent done a combo that got me so frustrated for a while.

I've had lots of 20.0 T1's and even an odd 19.***. For T2 i've seen a 55.5 and a dozen or so in the higher 55's and plenty of 56's. But not once have i got a clean lap... I would settle for a 56 clean lap but nope :) nothin... :)

Had a run then of T1: 20.0, T2: 55.8 and finished it good but hit the rear on a wall :( I think the first clean run i get ill stick with...

I drove 150km last night and not 1 clean lap either :( Don't know what my sectors were as I was too busy concentrating on the driving, not that it helped...I hate Monaco!!! :banghead:

No clean laps here either. I can't pull my eyes off the road long enough to see the sector times, I only see if they are blue or red.

*thinks about changing his avatar*

I think the only way to do this is to start driving really slllooowwlly around the track, not hiting anything, and then picking up the speed lap by lap until you hit something. Still struggling with TCS and my geometry. My 787b is to "wild" right now, but I think I can tame her in the end... :)

@ scuderia229
:D While I'm indeed "Flattered" that someone would ask for any Settings I use, (only the 2nd time it's happened in 52 Weeklies!!!), I must admit I'm more than a little "Dismayed" by your attitude concerning "Sharing Settings." If you'll take the time to check the Weekly Race Series "Archives" you'll discover that learning about & sharing "Tuning" knowledge was what this Series originally was all about. Holding your Cards "Close to your Chest" isn't really in the "Spirit" of this particular OLR.

So without "Further Ado" I've listed the Set-up I'm currently using. Originally Shared by Mr P & "Tweaked" here and there to the best of my limited ability:

👍 ...UB57 :D

Kind of like how things were done in the Diablo series, right UB57. We even shared hot lap replays to help each other with racing lines. You new guys need to understand that many of us have been racing against each other for a while And some races series are Team format so we are or were team mates. You also my be a future team mate. Keep that in mind. As much fun as it is to win an OLR race, I could care less if I won and lost a racing friend.

Ya I get it now, sorry for the issue. I talked to a few people about it today that have been here much much longer than I have and realize it is sorta part of the vibe of the weekly. I get it now, again sorry for the BS....

:-)

If Boom were still giving each week a title, this week's race would have to be "Power Drill Pinball" :D

20.8
57.8

I'm still wavering on whether or not it's a clean lap. On the entry to Tabac (the left after the chicane) I got really close to the wall. It's hard to tell if there's a touch or not because I'm braking (so I can't look for a speed drop). I know ... if it's too close to call, go for a better lap :(

Managing an occasional clean lap. Best so far:

20.9 59.2

Those are really some odd looking settings UB57. I would guess the soft front springs and the high front height are intended to really load up the front wheels under braking, but I'm not sure I get the big rear camber combined with the high rear stabilizer. I'll give 'em a try next time out.

In the interest of trying to be more open here I'll share my latest splits.

T1 20.9
T2 58.9

Didn't try the Mr.P settings but did soften the front of the car, helps "bite" into the corners....

HareTurtle....looks like we are again .1 apart...hahahaha....

:-)

I'm off for 30mins of GT4P..I can't get enough of the Takata NSX on Fuji and the school mode is teaching me alot..Italy + the lancia need I say more

Unless, of course, Jim & I are about to run the table in a rally race until Mr P shows up. ;)

I'm gonna cry:guilty: :(

btw I smashed my controller on the ground after such frustrating stupid small bumps at turns and even straightaways, I'm not sure if my controller will survive this week:mad:

Finally got thru without smashing the bodywork all to hell.
20.431
55.706

When i started testing for this i was using a setup similar to what Mr.P's old setup was -Midfield BC3- but found it had too much oversteer.I did some tweaking and came up with a set that is alittle more neutral,if thats possible in this car.:odd:

7/10
115/55
10/10
1/10
2.0/3.5
0/2
1/1

13/9
5/20/5

3.146
2.150
1.706
1.376
1.137
F-3.600@24

1.00/1.25
0/2

With some work this car can put a big dent in the R390 records on this track, maybe not the top spot but 3rd place is reachable.;)

Jebus... Your flying Iforce, I was thinking anything above 7th place was gonna be a top spot.... :O

My setup looks totaly differnt.., will have to give that a try ;)

EDIT: Finally got a clean lap: T1: 20.6 T2:56.5. Want to take another 2 seconds of the lap before im done :)

thats some good times u guys. im mid 58.5's
