Got back a little while ago from A Night Under the Stars (or “Under the Ceiling” since it was raining… yes it rains in San Diego, sometimes). Amazing selection of food and beer. Amongst other things, had sushi, raw ahi, braised pork belly with apple sage couscous (I wish I had the patience to make braised pork belly like this), beef tongue, pulled pork, duck with Stone Double Bastard hot sauce, deep fried risotto, pork on fries with white cheddar gravy, etc. etc. Beer tasters included Stone Cali-Belgique and Subliminally Self-Righteous, Ballast Point Habenero Sculpin and Ginger Big Eye IPA and Victory at Sea (been waiting many many months to try this!), Manzanitas Brown and Smoked ales, Mission Amber and a one-off imperial stout that I don't remember the name of but was probably the best thing I had tonight, Green Flash Red, and Airdale Homecoming.

Just came back from this. Had the lamb chilli with what tasted like yellow squash and yam and Old Numbskull (barleywine), then did a flight of tasters of Alesmith Winter Yulesmith, Wee Heavy, Horny Devil, Grand Cru, and Speedway Stout (nothing that I haven't already tried before, but all very very good).

Tomorrow night I'm itchin' to have some DFH 120 at a local pub.

Well, they ran out of the DFH 120 even though I was in line before they opened the cask. I did get to try DFH… um… [Female dog’s] Brew, Theobroma, Sah’tea, and Olde School. Currently enjoying Stone/Bruery/Elysian La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado. An interesting take on pumpkin beers: more of a vegetable beer and very little of the typical pumpkin-pie type style. The fenugreek and lemon really stand out.
