On KEXP, the afternoon host, Larry Mizell, Jr, does a thing he calls “OG Thursdays.” He plays music that samples other artists, then plays the original song that was sampled. Yesterday had a theme: everything he played sampled the music of Cal Tjader. I’ve heard of him, of course, but honestly, I’ve never really delved into to his music. Yesterday’s show was a real education. Tjader is going to be my next musical rabbit hole.

If there were no Cal Tjader there'd be no Poncho Sanchez and we'd've missed out on his "Poinciana Cha Cha".

Yellow Magic Orchestra's first, second, fourth and fifth studio albums. Skipping ×∞ Multiplies as it sounds like a bit of a mess. A schoolmate of mine had some of these as a kid but I never got around to listening to them until a certain game burned "Rydeen" into my brain.

I love catchy music but I'm not sure signing up to a genre built on addictive earworms is a great idea for my tablet's SSD space.

After downloading most of Snail's House's discography released over the last decade or so, the latest additions to my dopamine factory are CY8ER's eponymous hits compilation and NanaoAkori's Love Brain/Higasa single.

I actually met her in Summer of 1992 while they were touring Bricks Are Heavy (IIRC they were supporting Beastie Boys) and she was really lovely despite her presence. Would have liked to get to that show.

Hamilton. A Minecraft musical.

I’m not a fan of musicals and I never watched Hamilton but after this I just might. I just love the voices and the songs (especially Helpless, Satisfied and Wait for it) Really worth it. I have been listening to it on repeat for the last 2 days, it is that good really.

It took more than 7 months for a crew of 50+ peoples to prepare this show, which they played in front of a 1000+ people in game. They prerecorded the songs (no autotune, manually mixed) to avoid lag and chaos but all the movement were all live. An hour well spent and very high quality production. (Only act 1, they are thinking about doing the act 2 if the interest is there). I loved every bit and I probably learned more about the American revolution in this one hour then in school lol.

I’m not a fan of musicals and I never watched Hamilton but after this I just might.

I'm not a big musical fan, either, but I loved the show and went to see Hamilton live when my wife and I were in London last year.

These are their most accessible and song-like tracks. If you like Prog/Psychedelic Rock and/or Avant-Garde/Experimental Jazz, you might like these.
