Bought this quite a while back but i'm still enjoying it!

Bought this off of iTunes:

It's Arcade Fire's Arcade Fire EP. Released back in 2003. I can't believe it took me this long to buy it!

Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection (1970)

I wrote this about it in 2007 in the Classic Albums thread, and now it has become a member of an elite club of albums that I have now bought three times... I had it on tape, and then bought it on CD - but unfortunately, that got damaged, and now I have just bought the Deluxe Edition on iTunes for £10. I'm usually not a fan of bonus tracks, but in this case, they swung the deal for me (given that I already have the whole album as mp3s!). My only criticism of the original album is the slightly overdone backing score of strings and wind instruments, which, while adding to the songs, detracts slightly from the raw brilliance of Elton John's piano playing and superb vocals. The album not only boasts some raw piano demos, but also 4 tracks from the BBC sessions that I used to have somewhere, taped off the radio when I was a kid. All in all, this really is the definitive version of a unique album which shows Elton John in a completely different light to that which most people would be used to.

Despite a vast back catalogue of albums, Allmusic.com only rate three Elton John albums as 5-star. This is one of them 👍

4x4=12 by Deadmau5(got the whole album, including the song Cthulu Sleeps)
I Am Very Glad, Because I Am Finally Returning Home(Trololo) by Eduard Khil

Hm. I think the last thing I bought was the most recent Iszoloscope. He played a show at Das Bunker, Los Angeles, and I picked it up from the merch table.

It was either that, or iVardensphere. They opened for CombiChrist on the most recent tour.

Both artists fall somewhere around the range of Power Noize / Rhythmic Noise under the Industrial umbrella.

Picked up the new Angra yesterday, typically classy & brilliantly performed. They are the masters of their profession.

Did have the pic here but the 'insert image' doesn't appear to be working :grumpy:

Was finally able to pick The Aquabats latest album "Hi-Five Soup!". I Couldn't find it in store and it wasn't available on the Australian iTunes store until, I guess, the last couple of days, even though it was released almost a month back now.

I've only listened to it once, so far I'm a bit iffy about it. It sounds like they've let Yo Gabba Gabba influence the album too much. :yuck:

Beady Eye - The Roller

Ran into this on Sirius today, couldn't believe what I was hearing. Just bought the song on iTunes. 👍

I am planning on picking up Oasis's next, wait . . . Beady Eye's debut album first thing when it releases next month.

I'm a big fan of Oasis, especially Noel Gallagher, but felt that their later releases were pretty weak. I checked out the Beady Eye website, and while I was pretty impressed with "The Roller", two other songs they had posted sounded like some of the crappier songs Oasis released late in their career.

I could be wrong. I've hated some Snow Patrol, Killers, Jack Johnson stuff in the past, and later became my absolute favorites. I'm an idiot.

My purchases for this week.

1. Red Dead Redemption (Original Soundtrack)

I loved the music from this game so much that I had to get the soundtrack. Not sure why it took me so long to get it!

2. The Postal Service - Give Up
postal.jpg

First heard of this great band after hearing Streetlight Manifesto's cover of "Such Great Heights". Another album which took a bit of convincing myself to get. I've already listened to it quite a few times, I love it!

3. Bright Eyes - The People's Key
bright-eyes-the-peoples-key.jpg

One of three albums I've been looking forward to this year. It's fantastic, listening to it for the second time in a row right now!

I liked couple of songs from Postal Service, few years ago. They make some catchy tunes!

I'm really thinking about getting that Bright Eyes album. On a scale of 1 to 10, how good is it?
It's steadily becoming one of my favourite Bright Eyes albums, definitely not their worst album but not quite their best. It sounds like it has evolved from Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, but there's definitely some slight elements from their more folky albums. Conor's vocals aren't quite as depressing as in past albums, if this really is the final Bright Eyes album, then it's kinda like he's saying "oh, but everything's alright in the end". If you haven't got any Bright Eyes albums then this would be a good one to start off with, along with I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning.

I'm going to give it an 8.5/10.

The last CD I bought was 616 undone, and it almost finnished my collection. Only a few more CD's to go and I will never need to buy one again.

loveless.jpg

Both great albums. Loveless is a classic, if you haven't got it yet, YOU SHOULD.

Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will is fantastic, Mogwai mixed the right amount of old with a good amount of new. Definitely recommend it 👍

On iTunes, I bought "London by Night", this one by Frank Sinatra. I absolutely love the cover by Greg Laswell of this song. If you like covers, I highly recommend it.

I'm also a Oasis fan. How did you like it?

Edit: I don't know how big of a fan you are, or if I told you this before, but at their Portland show, I saw Gem Archer & Andy Bell walking right through the isle. I shook hands with Gem. :O

I'm also a Oasis fan.

Well considering I have every Oasis album and at any given time, Oasis is either ranked as 1A or 1B on my favorite band list, I would say that I am a moderate fan of their work.

How [do] you like [Different Gear, Still Speeding]?

Different Gear, Still Speeding is good, not great. There are some very good songs on the albums and some that fall pretty flat. Four Letter Word, like typical Oasis fashion, is a strong opening song. I have not decided what I think of The Roller just yet. Beatles and Stones falls flat. Kill for a Dream is my favorite song on the album. When a friend told me it was written by Andy Bell, not Liam Gallagher, I was quite surprised. I enjoy the album, but need to give it a few more listens and be able to put names with songs, outside of just the above and Bring the Light.

That is pretty awesome. I do not even know if I could pick Gem and Andy out of a lineup if I were asked. Gem maybe, but not likely on Andy Bell. Noel and Liam on the other hand . . .

I might have to get it then. Sounds like it's a pretty decent CD. I'm a fan of Noel though, and not at all of Liam, I'm not gonna lie. :sly: The Roller I really liked, because Liam did his best of John Lennon impersonation. I'm a big fan of Lennon, a bigger fan of Paul. :D

They were walking right through the end walkway/isle thing, and I was the only one who noticed the two. I'm just short of starting to jump up & down, screaming like a school girl(ok, not really)and everyone around me's just completely unaware. I'll never forget that.

Any other here that have bought this?

Not as good as the bands other albums but still pretty decent.

Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks - Brian Eno (1983)

Contains a couple of classic Eno tracks, including one of my favourite songs, 'Always Returning'. Also contains 'Deep Blue Day' (featured on the 'Trainspotting' soundtrack), and 'An Ending (Ascent)', recently featured prominently in an episode of Top Gear. My favourite Eno album so far...

The Strokes - Angles

I picked Angles last Friday. I cannot really comment on Angles just yet because I have not quite listened to all of the album.

I recently picked up Boston's and Nazareth's Greatest Hits CDs and they're both pretty good. Boston especially - I have most of their albums and every one is AMAZING. Also found Tom Cochrane's Mad Mad World in the pawn shop a week or two ago and had to pick it up, as well.

Thinking about getting Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run as well...
