Get a Miata small siimple cheap easy to drive especially for driving pleasure.

What should be ones first car? For Malaysians, and for most people even if it's going to be sold all around the world.

This. The Proton Persona. It's a sedan, spacious, economical, easy to maintain, easy to drive, what else? At MYR60k, this is by far the cheapest mid-size sedan in Malaysia. And yes I drive it currently and the one in the picture is mine...

For me it will likely be a Toyota Vios with... wait for it... A 5-SPEED MANUAL! Glamorous eh? :p
Those cost $40K USD used here, it sounds expensive but it's good value for the ridiculous prices over here.

But if possible I really want to grab an old Nissan 240SX, that is if I can find one.

Aim for the XRS. For what it is it's fun.

Top gear had this on their show yesterday 👍 but it was a 4 cylinder..... Dubbed the worst car in America lol. And yes this was Top Gear America

No the Pinto was the worst car in America. Now if you go a few years before and drop a 429 in it you're going to be ******** yourself. That or a built 4V Cleveland, if you can find one.

And whoever said the motors in those things were crap, stock yes for that year, stock the years beofre they were good and if you built these right, they were the motors to beat in the '70s...

? Could've sworn Adam was the loser of that one... a 429 into a Mustang II? Why would you do that..

I said if you go back a few years before, AKA 1969/1970, and drop a 429 into it. That Mustang King Cobra II's were nice though. Better if you had larger tires in the rear though. Now if the fastback was more straight, down lower and less curved it would look even better.

Oh you meant decades.. I'd say that would be more of a project car. I would think King Cobra II's would be hard to find, and then fix up.

Depends on where you live. I know there are muscle cars GALORE around me in NY. In fact my best friends mother owns one just like the picture above except the blue and white is reversed. Has a stock 302 (5.0) in it that is getting ripped out for a 351W (408 Stroker). Spins the tires with ease.

Here in VA(northern) I don't usually see classics around, maybe a couple for car shows and such. The trends basically lifted jeeps and trucks :yuck: and maybe some exotics for the wealthy. I'm saving for a c5 corvette currently because they're pretty common around here. Deffinately no King Cobra IIs though haha

Oh beleive me we have our fair share of lifted Jeeps and Trucks. I have one sitting in my driveway, lol. Has parts off a King Cobra II 302 as well. Here its the average car SUV and truck, loads of lifted Jeeps and trucks (we consider trucks to be just really big muscle cars) and loads of muscle.

Ah I see. Here it's not the average car, more like the muscle car version of riced out. There are some tasteful mods though, but not too many.

If you end up with a muscle car or an old truck, you go all out. Dead serious. Roll bars on your truck with a beast big block underneath the hood or a muscle car with a giant blower sticking out and street legal. Most of the trick out cars do 10s and 11s on street tires in the 1/4 mile. Trucks do anywhere from 11s to 16s.

Muscle cars I understand. Trucks I don't. They just don't seem performance oriented to me.

People like my dad think they are the baddest guys on the corner. The trucks do look pretty sweet though. Who wouldn't want to brag about having a high powered truck that can spin all 4 33's? You can't tell me these don't look sweet lol (this isn't mine but has a similar setup witht eh color, roll bards and sized tires.):

What's under the hood?

That particular picture has 4.9l (300ci) straight six but they had 5.0s, 5.8s, 6.9's and 7.5s ready for that year. However you can pretty much put any Ford V8 in it if you really wanted to. That picture has a Ford C6 tranny (3 speed auto). I have the transmission too. I've got 5.8 from 10 years before that's been built. And there were up to 3 different 5.8s from Ford back then, and then on top of that each one had several different variants from there. That pic is also a 4X4, Dana 44 up front and Dana 60 rear.

Huh.. so really you can make it into whatever you can get your hands on. That is pretty nifty. Never really looked into trucks.. more at playing with boost on smaller cars.

Pretty much. And you wouldn't beleive how much weight you can haul just if you upgrade the leaf springs...its a 3/4 ton truck with 1 ton springs. It's held 1 1/2 tons. Check this commercial out (no BS lol, love showing that to people):

Now we all know it's not really legit but it's still cool to watch. Considering each of those trucks weighs in at 6000lbs.

Even with 3/4 tin springs they'll hold more than a ton. As far as parts and engines the manufacturers kept it really really simple till the 90's when ifs became standard. Id bet an engine and trans swap could be done in less than a day with two decent people in a back yard.

Yeah but even then you're going to be pushing it. I will say though, turning tends to get very hard. There is soooo much room in the engine bay. I know for a fact the engine in it now got swapped in in a day by himself. No problem. Steel mounts too. Before the steel mounts used to get ripped off all the time. It's no problem getting that done. Everything was so simple and could hold crazy amounts of power.

I've seen seen 3/4 tons hold a ton regularly. On top of that I've had my friends 89 ranger hold 850 lbs of scrap and haul it the while way across town without a problem. However it did blow up after he put 33's on it.

Lol i know but it looks cool and its CHEAP.

Cheap? What are you on kid... Actually what m3s have you seen??

 It put that much strain on the engine?
