Sorry, I misunderstood ya there.
I can't turn off DRC, but I can use the PIP to show how well it works. The left side picture has the DRC, and the right side doesn't. I can make my PIP pictures both the exact same size for a side by side comparison.
I am doing it right now., and there is a noticeable difference. My text on the left side has a darker black and is sharper in image. The right side text looks more gray and fuzzy, not as sharp. The colors of the Smiles are richer and warmer in color with much better definition to them. From some strange reason the white background to the text looks like it has more of a pinkness hue to it compared to the right. The yellow border around the text is much more intense compared to the right side.
I just got done trying it with anolog TV stations and wow what a difference. The images on the left were more intense with color and the sharpness was much greater on the left. You can really see the fine lines of human hair and the general fuzzyness of non DRC images is eliminated.
I just tried it with my regular vcr which is an $80 Sony and I can't begin to tell you how horrible the right side is compared to the left. I'll just say THANK GOD FOR DRC!
It was really bad.
I think the best thing to do is just invite you over so you can see for yourself. If you are ever going to be in the greater LA area of California, look me up.
