What would you Change About San Andreas ?

Make it so when you go to map-- it defaults to the close up of where you are instead of the big map--or at least make it customizable (you choose).

Different (brighter) icons for map--hard to finds a pay-n-spray, ammunation, etc...its ok on HUD--just hard to see on map.

Make at least one straight superhighway between LS and SF (I haven't opened up LV yet but probably between all 3 cities)--- maybe a car carrier train between the two so I can get on a train with my vehicle and skip the trip--

add a few more pay-n-sprays (and make them a little more accessible) and bribes

Bring back the VC bike physics for jumps and stuff-- this is more real but I miss my tight spins :(

....more to come....

My biggest complaint has to do with the targetting system.

If a target is just out of your range and there's something behind you that can aim at, like a car or a wall, CJ will swing around and aim at it. Then he'll get shot at while he's facing away from the oncoming enemies. Very annoying.

Same here. There was a lot of stuff said about how the Vice City targetting was so much better than GTA III and in San Andreas it was so much better than Vice City.

Bullcrap. I can't tell the difference.

There was hype about how the game would autotarget on the most dangerous opponent. Well I'm doing a mission where I have to destroy machines, and CJ regularly targets the machines instead of the bad guys. Are they more dangerous? And when up close to someone it regularly won't autotarget on enemies at all.

As for GTA III having more depth... What "depth" did it have that San Andreas doesn't have?

Yes, next to the AI cars on the free/high-ways, the targeting system is very frustrating. How bout being in a shoot out with cops, and after killing current target and trying to target the cop, on a knee, right in front of you, CJ targets a pedestrian across the damn street!!!!!!! And, when i have the camera turned a different way than CJ faces to track an enemy, I hit R1 and instead of CJ targeting in the direction the camera is facing, the camera switches around and targets whatever is in front of him, i find it highly annoying.

I also agree with the buying stuff taking too slow. What was wrong with going into Ammunation and just picking up a half dozen weapons in a few seconds. And there's no need to have AmmuNation as a loadable interior. They could have done what they did in Vice City and had the front of the shop as part of the main exterior map and had the rifle range as a loadable interior when you wanted to access it.

The one good thing about it is the gun nut who serves you. The things he says are great:
"The serial numbers all came off"
"Works great in crowded areas"
"Perfect for killing. Pure and simple"
"There are cultists everywhere friend!"
"The revolution is coming"

And with buying clothes they should have just had CJ on screen the whole time and a menu system you could fly through to pick different clothes which would instantaneously change on him. It really adds nothing to the game to have him going in and out of the changing room and posing in front of the mirror. When you're checking through 4 or 5 of each item of clothing to buy or wear something, it's just a pain.

Needs rampages. better, customizable 2 player mode, like kill 50 people in 3 miutes with an AK47.

#1 Is the highway lane changes!!!! It's ridiculous!!!! I lost my custom Tampa because of that crap! And i don't think it's all that random either. To many times they do it right next to me, but when they are 100m ahead of me they change lanes smoothly!!!! what the hell is up with that?!?!?!?
Thats probably the only thing that annoys me, its like when you find a car in Las Venturas that you have to take back to San Fierro for Import/Export you know you've gotta drive the friggin annoying highways, with the drivers that DELIBERATLY drive infront of you, ive lost a few cars on the highways.

Klostrophobic
I'd change the god damned camera angle when in a car. None of them are any good and it sucks having to hold the right analog stick forward while I steer and manipulate the throttle.

I agree. Cresting hills and high-speed freeway driving are more painful than they should be. A slightly higher camera angle would be a huge improvement, IMO.

Other than that big one, I've just got a couple quibbles: map's hard to read, targeting's fussy, clunky purchasing interface. Overall though, it's gonna be a looooong time before I'm done with this game... 👍

Never had problems with any of these. I can see where you are coming from with the Bike physics, you love your Jumps. I like the roads, makes you think a little more when driving around. I find it to be set up nicely.

The icons are fine to me, although I suppose the Pay 'n' Spray is a little dark. Never bothered me much, but I see what you mean.

I also see where everyone is coming from, but I really have no quarells about this game. I love it 100%. San Andreas for Life!

I can see Spuds point. The huge game area is nice, but I hate having to consult the map to navigate all sorts of country roads and complex intersections to get from one area to another far away. A couple of multilane freeways just running from one city to another with a few on and off ramps here and there would have made it easier and less frustrating travelling long distances.

I think they did it to make it less easy to learn your way around, and pro-long everyone's gaming experience. I don't know. I definately see your point, and I know many people would get annoyed by it, but I'm just not one of those people I suppose.

I like the Highways... it's quite realistic the way they don't have junctions on them in the places you want them... in the UK motorways have junctions in some of the silliest places... that are miles away from where you want to be!!!

The quickest way to get between Los Santos and San Fierro is to blast along the railway tracks on a bike!!

The cars on the highway are, by far, my biggest complaint. I'm on "Photo-Oppurtunity" right now, and I've failed it several times, because I keep getting run off the road by the AI. (One guy, in a semi, actually changed lanes right into me, from beside, and pushed me up a wall that flipped the car!) It's also very annoying with the cops, because they cut you off, hitting you, and you get a wanted level because of it.

Oh, by the way, you can fly planes from the very beginning. Simply park a car right up next to the gate that goes to the runways and hangars, and climb on the car, then up onto the security building, and jump off the other side. Then, go up the ramp that's on a container, and jump over the chainlink fence (or you can just climb the fence normally), and, not far into the other side, you'll find a Dodo, which is always unlocked.

One thing to note, however, is it seems that only this Dodo is unlocked, if you get into the Fierro airport before the gated unlock, there are Lears, Dodos, and even the P-51 and the DC-3, as well as the CH-53 (I don't know the game names of any of them), but all are locked, including all the Dodos.

The one thing I would change (well 2 in fact), easy. Get rid of the damb DDR missions. I bought a GTA series game for random violence and driving. I did NOT by ANY DDR type game, bacause it is something I am appaling at and DO NOT enjoy (been stuck on both the OG LOC and 'car jumping' missions for a week).

Uhh...just hit the button it tells you to when it's in the middle of the circle.

IE: Start pressing the button before it enters the circle.

The missions are actually pretty lenient. You can do horribly and still pass.

I'm absolutely delighted with the size of San Andeas. It's already 5 times as big as Vice City (do we really need a game 25 times as big as Vice City?). I think no matter how big it was, people would still want it twice or three time as big. How big should San Andreas be? Three times as big as whatever size they make it!

I can't think of many games with such a huge world that allow you to freely roam about in it. Actually, I can only think of one I've played. Get bored with the plot? Go exploring! Find hidden stuff in the middle of nowhere! Do side missions!

As for the garages, I'm not bothered. I've never been one to collect cars in GTA games. What use is a garage with 10 cars? Cars are for driving, not collecting. Okay, it's nice to get unique cars like the Lovefist Limo or Romero's Hearse and store them because they don't turn up apart from in a single mission, but other cars have fixed locations, can be seen on the streets and you can always store a couple for use. When I got Vice City at first, I was so impressed with the PCJ600 that I stuffed garages full of them, only to realise later that it was a waste of time. I could keep 2 or 3 stored somewhere and it only took 2 minutes to get one anyway.

One thing I wish Rockstar had done is put more properties with a garage in out of the way locations. I hate having to haul a vehicle along miles of roads with suicidally bad drivers so I can use it to climb Mount Chiliad or whatever. At least if I had something like an NRG500 stored in Angel Pine, I could go there in a helicopter, and I'm only a quick ride away from Mount Chiliad. I could then just park it back in the garage so it's there for future use.

I haven't even bothered to use the Packer to move cars around. Can't see the point really. Maybe it will be useful for the import/export thingamajig which I haven't done yet.

SA is big enuf for me--I've spent 1/3 of my time just going from one point to another--- I do wish they put a safe house and a garage on top of Mt Chilliad and/or the big mountain in LV-- then you could do some real stunting trial and error

It's plenty big enough for me. But i'm just going to restate again that : There are TOO MANY COPS in this game!!!!!! It's ridiculous.... And as soon as you throw a grenade, before it even blows up, you get a star. This has become the biggest 'problem' for me.

I'd say make character movements smoother. That's my only problem.

I also agree with the garage issue. With so many many vehicles, we need more than a 6-car garage. Is it so hard to make a 5-story parking garage an asset? With your own private parking floor? Would be wicked.

I'd also like to be able to make more than 1 target on a map at one time.

That would be good but you'd have to make the color a different color each time so you could tell which one to go to.

Being able to set waypoints would be good... to get from Palamino to AngelPine is quite a twisty route so I had to keep consulting my map and placing the target at the junction I turned at... then repeat...

The pop-up can be abit annoying sometimes, especially when landing Helis! and trees pop up right when your about to land and you crash into them.

To me, it just shows the diversity of San Andreas. If it was all about killing and driving, it would be too much like the other games. And you would get bored quickly. It just brings something a little different, instead of every mission having to involve killing people.

As for the complaints about the Freeways, I don't care. I can definately see where you're coming from, and I could see how about 95% of people getting annoyed by this, but I'm a very focused driver. I'm careful about everything. Unless I'm in a rush to get somewhere and aren't focusing, I hardly ever get run off the road. Anticipation is the key.

And too many cops? I've been to LA, and there were cops everywhere when I was there. It also makes doing crimes a bit harder, and makes you think a little more, which I like.

I've already thought about the map targetting though. I agree with all your ideas too. Maybe they could have included a way in which you could have the roads you want coloured in red. Just clicking on the road or something. That would make it easier. I'm getting used to everything now. I can make it from my place in Windy Hill Rd to Four Dragon's Casino or to Verona Beach without consulting the map. And to other areas. :D

The Safe House on the mountain would certainly have been great!

I've seen at least 10 bribes since I started the game. They're just hidden.
