What would your first set of wheel be?

Everybody bashes the AE86......but I see your point. It DOESN'T have the most balanced handling or power for that matter, but it's just the fun in driving a car you actually own that gets me. We didn't have an 86....we had an AE85 Trueno but you get the point. :D If I were to have a second.....it would have to be the R5. I'm told they are very agile, responsive cars.

R5 Turbo is my choice...quick, light, great rally aw well as road car....props to the French...BTW, my friend's dad had a R5 Turbo...he lived in Belgium and was an early "street racer" if you can call them that over there :)

Is there any reason for that particular selection of cars in the list? Personally I would like to start in a Nissan/Datsun 1600 or 1600SSS. These were a great car in their day. I used to race against quite a few of these when I had my Mazda RX4 2 door hardtop running a 13B PP.

Of your list, I chose the R5, but I would love it if either the 49 Beetle or 68 Karmann Ghia were available as starter cars.

Are you sure it'd be reasonable....considering neither of them sport more than 70 horsepower. ouch. But you opinion is yours I guess, I respect it.

Well, I'll admit it's not the smartest choice, but if I've got a spend a few weeks just working up the cash to buy and build a more reasonable car, I can live with it.

Definitely, you're next car would be well deserved. Even with the AE86, after it reaches it's limit, the next car is SO much easier on you, because you're not PUSHING so hard to keep up. And plus it's fun to beat other cars with an obselete 60 year old car :D or in my case 20.

The MK1 MR2 SC. I would take the NA model though over the SC, mostly because I own one... though its special (look at sig)

I love Toyota's and more so the MR2, all generations of it. My next pick would be the 86, because its a great car to learn with, cause you get good racing with it, unless you go mod happy.

But AW11 MR2... I just wish I could drop a 20 valve in it ;)

i dunno if i can start with it, but the miata gets my vote. i did start GT3 with a trueno but man, what an eye opener after driving the miata. of the cars that have between 100 to 200 hp, this car is very fun to drive.

I agree, the Miata was a very appealing first car with it's superior handling compared to the Trueno. But....I don't know, I just don't have FUN driving it. It's not my type of car, I guess.

Azuremen , you've got a VERY nice Mister-Two there. Props :D

Azuremen i dont think you could have 200hp in your car with these few mods...

Think about it. A 20 valve 4AG could push 160-170hp. The ECU greatly helps, probably around 10 hp. Exhaust and intake, maybe another 5. Maybe you misread and thought it was a normal 4AG ( 16 valve DOHC )? Those only push 125 horsepower

Seeing the latest list I'd actually want to start out with a Golf Mk1 GTi or a Peugeot 106 XSi. 2 fun little hatchbacks. The AE86 is fun though, but less fun to look at :D.

I secretly hope they've got some deep dish rims included to put on the Golf ;)

I highly doubt the R5 Turbo will be within the starting price range...

I'd take the Piazza. Good looking, small, nimble, RWD, some had turbos (not sure if the one in the game will), and rare and different enough from the norm :)

When this game comes out I'll make a thread specifically about first cars.

Speaking of 106s, I miss the 106 rallye from GT2. It was VERY nimble and it kept up with Mustang GTs when I raced it.

The '85 FC....man I love that thing. Also speaking of Golfs.... I hope the MKII is in. Cute lil' cars :D

1988 Honda Prelude Si 4WS

MK1 or MK2 Golf GTi

I'll be looking at those....I am extremely fond of the Honda because it was the first car I ever drove. Also the first car I ever drove by myself. :)

I voted for the Isuzu Piazza, especially if they have the "Handling by Lotus" Edition from the late 80's. I liked the EightSix(AE86) also, it was my first car in GT3. I'd have chosen Nissan Silvia/240SX, if it was on the list.

Definitely the Accord. Good, solid car.

Doesn't seem like a kinda starting car, though.

Ford Tauras SHO because of the great power for cheap price early on. Handles decently enough and is a challenge to drive hard. But it's fun.

This is only a theoretical thread, you don't have to use the car that you chose here.

Chose the 86 in GT3, but I'd say the 5. Been waiting for a good hatch for ages and this would be nuts.

I would go with Hachi-Roku too ...

Started with that in GT3 at first try, was great ... :D

BTW: is that for sure - those will be the possible starting cars???
