What would you rate this game on a scale of 1-100?

70 offline, 90 if you have an internet connection.

Why ? First of all, for the offline part, if you can't update your game or dont want to and is stuck wiht 1.00 and all the bugs it's a sucky game honestly. Not enough event to be fun, the fun event dont have enough races in them to be really interesting, lots of bugs, lots of things you can't do, lots of things missing compares to a 1.05 game.

90 with internet because for me it's online that the game is good. Online dearlership seems promising to get special color cars, online event brings lots of credit/exp, and online race provide you with infinite fun at least for me.

Where do I loose those 10% ? Well standard car dont bother me but some are really badly made and it's a shame. Difference in physics online/offline sucks too, as well as not beeing able to put full damage on every a/b-spec race. Restriction are a bit too easy on all event but that was always for GT5.

I just want a bit more selection on Online race to put restriction, like drivetrain, type of car, car makers etc.. Doesnt seems hard to me but oh well lol.

Graphics: 80
Physics: 70
Feature set: 80
Longevity: 75

77 Overall.

85

Game is fun all around, but the lack of events and the impossibility of setting up the arcade races ala GT5Prologue (which was great) kills a bit the game when you run out of events.

A-Spec points philosophy and difficulty settings for arcade races is something I will never understand why they are missing in this game...

Hi Their,
I don't know really, My mind tell's me that i will gave it a bad score. I just don't smell the Classicness Of GT, Well atleast i could smell it on Gran Turismo 4.

I've now hit level 25 in both A and B spec, I've completed to the end of Extreme in both as well and I'll give GT5:
65
The graphics are great, the handling of the cars is second to none, there just isn't enough of a game there to warrant a higher scrore. It just doesn't have enough substance to keep my interest for much longer. If a later patch adds a load more competitions, then it'll be revisited, but I just can't see that happening. Which is hugely dissapionting, considering the GT series have been my most played games, by far, over the last few years.

I would rate the physics 100. However the actual gameplay I would rate 40. If this had been 10yrs ago I would of said 80 but unfortunately PD remain stuck in the past and the gameplay on GT5 is very old and stale. These days career leaderboards has become the norm on many racing games and even arcade racers like Burnout, NFS had career leaderboards.

Over 1000 cars and only 4 time trial leaderboards is just pathetic.

I'd rate it 60-70 Overall. I started impressed, maybe an 85 at start, but reality hurts down the line.

Just for the record: Forza 3, I started rating it around 80. After some hours playing, it started raising. I can confidently rate it 95 now after all the DLCs with awesome "all premium" cars.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

It seems nearly everyone who places F3 on a pedestal places GT5 down low.

Really you can't find one flaw with the physics at all??

lol...

No I love the physics with my G25. However this is the first time i've used a wheel in a racing game because I always used the controller on Forza 2/3, GT5P. So maybe this is the other reason why im so impressed.

Overall I'd rate the game a 85. Pretty good, could be great, but falls short of greatness.

Physics are good for console racers, second only to Simbin's Race Pro. The tracks are great. Shortish list of real world tracks, but great original tracks balance that out. Lots of great cars, especially real world race cars. Online while not perfect, at least allows me to set up a room and host it using the cars and tracks I want, not what is selected for me by the system.

Bad - stupid flawed fake economy, bad single player design, lack of a class system to separate cars, lack of a full leaderboard system, the unicorn hunting aspect of getting some cars, complete waste of time B (for BORING) Spec.

Summary - PD is lucky they did such a good job with the physics, cars and tracks. The 3 things that really matter in a racing game. Without that the game would be just plain awful. But with those three, makes it the best current console racer available.

60- and I'm in a good mood. Ask me again after I discover I need to grind out another 8 B-Spec races to move up one level, or leave my PS3 on for week so I can run a 24-Hour race and I'll say 35. All the "improvements" are window dressing- the core of the GT franchise needs serious work.

if there were many more premium cars and these weren´t Nissans, toyota, dahiatsus, and those japanese cars and if there were many more events, better damage, some circuits more, I would say 100/100.

However I rate it 90/100

I'd have to say 40-50 as of now.

Great driving experience -> Horrid racing game.

I feel like this is the worst Gran Turismo if you look at the overall package vs time in development.

Like others, I would have said substantially higher shortly after getting the game (probably 80-90), but I am already bored and have reverted back to various other racers. That is a major problem for a game that touts its "ridiculous amount of content".

Not to mention I believe the majority of my "game time" was spent looking at the GT loading symbol. I don't remember the last time I played a game that had to load so often. Seriously, how many games load just to go from one menu to another and then back...

I'd rate it about 55-60 overall. Some bit of the game are outstanding, some are mediocre at best, and some are utterly awful.

The premium car models, lighting effects, day to night transitions and weather (on tracks where it is able to be changed) are outstanding. The way the real world tracks are recreated is also excellent, although the game needs more of these. I'm not too interested in driving on made up tracks that bear no relation to reality. The physics just barely scrape into this. They're good, but by no means perfect.

Mediocre - Shadows, some sounds, the menu system, A-Spec single player and the tuning options are all mediocre at best. The horrible, jagged, blocky shadows simply have no place on a modern, HD racing game, they look awful. The tuning options are OK, but not having a brake upgrade is a little silly, and I'm afraid PD should have taken a look at Forza and included bodykits, more wings etc and a proper paint system. It's not that hard to do and it makes a huge difference to the longevity of the game

Utterly awful - Some sounds, the AI, standard cars, prize cars, the UCD, grinding, not being able to save/change drivers in championships and endurance events, the list goes on. These have been covered extensively on this forum so I won't go into much detail here. Suffice to say, the game could be massively improved with a few simple tweaks and a proper AI system

Special mention - B-Spec - I mean really, what's the point? I have absolutely no interest in watching and directing the inept, stupid AI though a replica of the A-Spec events. However, most of the decent prize cars are given in B-Spec, like PD almost want to force you to complete it if you want to fully enjoy the game.

With GT3 and GT4 I was hooked for months, and literally couldn't put them down. I've had GT5 since launch day and I'm already bored with it. As soon as I get to level 30 and unlock the X2010, I really can't see me playing it much longer. In the last few days I've retreated back to my PC and rFactor. PD should look at the 1979 GP mod for that game to see how to create a truly immersive, realistic experience (and this was all done by amateurs and is available for free).

I agree. Having got rid of my Xbox and Forza 3 earlier this year in anticipation of GT5 (and to fund my PS3), I'm seriously regretting it. Forza 3 is just more fun, plain and simple. It's not perfect, but it's a better game than GT5 on just about every level

Yeah, that sums it up for me, too. Forza3 is a complete and solid game.

GT5, to its credit, still has me seriously addicted. I rate it about a 65, maybe a 70. The parts that are good are mind-blowingly good, and the parts that are bad are just staggering.

There's a huge list of cars yet to come out, and I'm wondering how much of the game will be changed in updates as these cars are also getting rolled out. If the bad stuff is improved over time, the game will (eventually) be phenomenal.

95%. Just a few points short of perfection. I've played it every day since release. You know a game is amazing when despite having a LittleBigPlanet 2 review copy weeks before release, you find yourself jumping onto Gran Turismo 5 a few times a day to enjoy a car or two.

This +1

I agree with you in a lot of points...

I'll give it a 80... good, addictive, but not great... could have been Legendary... but PD wasted time in... I don't know what... I mean... they had the time... the budget, the licenses.

When you read about people already waiting for GT6, you just know this game has been a huge letdown...

Physics-92% Great driving experience but the GT-Academy had a better physics for me!
A-Spec-60% I love only the special events and seasonal events!
B-Spec-0% I don't care at all!!
Online-95%-the most important part for me.I have a lot of fun driving with my friends in my private lounge!
The Green Hell 150% a pure orgasm!
Le Sarthe 100%

Id give it a 65. Some parts are amazing, but the lack of events is bad. As for you guys saying its a great SIM game, i completley disagree. Its not a sim at all, the cars do feel real enough but compared with real sims like GTR2, Rfactor and Iracing, it just cant compete what so ever, i mean its not even in the same legue.

It needs much more work, new events such as drag racing and customizable series/championships that could share with friends would be great. Also more premium cars. :)

50. As a game, just terrible. I don't even know where to start. My biggest disappointment is the carrer mode, which I always loved doing in the older games.

The previous GTs were just designed so much better. They had a large number of events. Heck, GT3 only had 150 cars and it's sad it beats GT5 in terms of the races that are available to do.

Previous GTs also didn't have a stupid and unnecessary level system that restricts you from certain races and driving certain cars. It's just a sloppy way to lengthen the life of the game. The older games were excellent without it.

There are others things I would list, but these are the biggest ones I can come up with right now. The only thing that saves GT5 for me is the driving, which is always fun to do. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother playing it.

For what it is and what it claims to be I would give it a 97/100 I have never played a racing game on any console that has been this good. Not once did I ever pick this game up thinking the "game" aspect of it better be as good as final fantasy. This is a driving sim and that's what it says on the damn box!! I really don't think it's fair to judge a game on your false hopes and expectations.

I honestly hope they just take the damn a and b spec out just so people would stop complaining.

I agree with this. I have no interest in reaching level 25 or 35 or whatever, I just want to enjoy the driving. I find it hard to enjoy the actual racing because there is no qualifying and the AI sucks, and I am limited as to what cars I can drive because I have to grind so much to gain credits to buy them.

The thing I have always like about the GT series is that it is tailored to the driving enthusiast, not the gaming enthusiast. Sadly, this is changing.

Oh well, as long as I can still lap the Nordschleife I'll be happy. It could be so much more but clearly PD are heading in a different direction. They can keep their B-spec and their Gran Turismo Anywhere because I won't be touching them.
