Well, that sucks. Just like many of the other fantasy racing series here among us GTPlaneteers, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. It was sure fun. This series surely made a guy from Houston, Texas, USA very happy to see such great video footage. Everything from RACECAR's fine intro to the actual races themselves was an absolute blast. All I can say to you is... cheers! 👍

..There is something that could be done as a sort of "grand finale". Well, I say finale, more like a "see you at some random point in time when I decide I'm bored and have a unique series/event idea." It's something that's been in the back of my head for some time now.

It doesn't involve the GT3 cars (they're just too heavy on the system), but it does involve some skills I've learned in equalising cars, the 10th anniversary of GTR2 this coming September and this instrumental.

Can't say I'm entirely happy with hearing the expression "throwing the towel" from you regarding this. No matter what, you were still one of the very few GTP'ers who used GTR2 to create a competitive B-Spec series. Most of the "other guys" who tried to do the same have either given up and moved on to other games or just flatout gave up. Saying that your product didn't stand out in this B-Spec world is a bit of a stretch, no...?

But if you feel that you hit writer's block right now and need some time to rethink your strategy for another day, then I guess this is a "see you later until I get my bearings properly"... I for one hope that you can find your groove again one day, man.

For reasons of Steam Summer Sale, I've bit the bullet and gotten pretty much all SimBin games bar RaceRoom for about 15€. So maybe, at some point in the future, we'll have the SimBin Racing Series or something instead. Idunno.

I should perhaps also rephrase what I said yesterday. "While it was actually for fun" may not be the correct words to use. I probably should've said "back in the simpler times". Each organiser (of which there was about 5) was focused on one (maybe two) categories of racing and each series was distinctly unique. No, I don't mind what's essentially a fully B-Spec version of GRID, I was actually supporting that idea, I'm just concerned, partially about the lack of actual cooperation in making such a thing work, partially about multiple series becoming too similar in general.
As cliché as it is, and trust me, it is a cliché, I'm just not fully confident in the way things are right now.

Or maybe I should just shut my mouth, quit complaining and get on with my 15€ of awesomeness.

@rallymorten it has been fun, it has been a challenge, but it has always been enjoyable. It sucks that your PC decides it needs to pull a me when you're trying to run it all, but I don't believe this is the end of you running a series. It may be a while, but I think you'll be back to being race director eventually. And when you do, I'll do what I can to support the effort.

On the expansive organizations, if people are bull-headed enough to force everything to run the same, and some are, I would be concerned as well. That said, I don't think those running them are that way, not to mention there's all of us who WILL complain loudly if it does even start looking that way.

And I'd be on-board with your anniversary event.

Cheers mate!

Well, that is a massive bummer for me. I really was enjoying this series and honestly, I didn't see how this didn't stand out. Either way, I can't change you mind so if this is where you decide to stop, as much as it sucks, then is fine. Guess I just help feel that the first B-Spec series I found and really enjoyed (and helped out with abit) isn't even going to continue :(

@rallymorten From what I've seen is that I don't think this group is trying to impose a monopoly of some sort, rather help out with already set cars and share them among other organizers for later use, so it's easier to paint cars and it's all streamlined. It doesn't have to be under one name but it's still shared across, and if you have something to bring to the table we'd be glad to see it.

However something controversial I will say is that some do it just for the sake of having their name everywhere and controlling the scene, making it a big name of some sort, which is funny because this was only for fun at one point...

Sad to see you go from this. I had great waifu power ;_;

I know, and I can appreciate and see the advantages of that. I'm just generally concerned about too many series and events becoming too similiar.

Maybe I just really need this holiday

What I hinted at above is still a genuine possibility.

If anything, seeing series like these has inspired me to go with my own sort of series. That's why I am still trying to find something that works to where I could possibly make my own GTR2 Series and even my own series of videos. Being part of this fine community has inspired me and in trying to enjoy an already classic game like GTR2. And if you know ANYTHING about me, I live on inspiration. It's like my blood and my heart and air in my lungs. Without inspiration, I feel dead. So the inspiration provided by series such as this one has gone a long way in enjoying GTR2 more than I probably would without it.

I guess what I am saying here is... thank you. Thank you for providing this fine series. It is all AI racing, but I always sometimes wonder where my good GTP mates are in races. Always try to see where folks like RACECAR, BKGlover, Angel, DCybertron, RedDragon and others in these races. Whether reactions are "yeah! Another win!" or "damn damn damn!", this was a fun ride. So once again- thanks for providing such awesomeness. If anything, this may be a chance to check out some of the past races uploaded on YouTube just to remember the insanity of this series. Or for some people who didn't do too well in these AI races... a chance to relive brutality.

One last thing... rFactor recently celebrated 10 years of its awesomeness, but GTR2 is reaching the decade mark too? Some things you never notice have certain anniversaries.

I have just had a brainwave. A small one, yes, but a brainwave nonetheless. A proper way to send this off and get on with things.

To put it short, in my messing about with things trying to make it not crash every 10 minutes, it seems the championship files got a little messed up, to the point any progress seems to have deleted itself. Since I was using a homemade championship (because that does all the points and weight allocations for me) for this, it's as if I've never started it. And I'm too lazy to do it all myself and set up another championship to pick it up where we are.

So here's the idea. Either this (most likely) or next weekend, I'll take all cars to Spa (because season finale) and do a 24 hour (or until my PC dies) race, which, of course, will be livestreamed, so look in the usual place. I'll see what I can do about making the cars that little bit more evenly matched, but no promises. The idea would then be that the current championship leader will start from pole position, 2nd place starts in 2nd and so on, just so the five previous races aren't completely wasted.

You will, of course, be allowed to enter a special livery for this event, if you so wish.

I may also include a slower, non-GT3 class for anyone who hasn't taken part in the main season.

How does this sound?

Well, if your PC could hang for the entire 24 hours, it would be a fitting finale to this GT3-based season, but at the same time there's that lingering risk that the race can crash halfway through and end things on a whimper...

...ah what the heck, I'll say yes, that hasn't stopped you before. The slower class is an interesting idea, but how and who we get to fill in those seats? Can we even get enough people to join that...?

I can get behind one last hurrah for this series to send off Perl-Speed GP's GT efforts.

Clearly this track is best suited to the #Fasterrari.

(jk all cars have actually had the physics from the McLaren implanted because various reasons. Mainly because it makes The Almight Wing seemingly cosmetic only and cars can keep going if it breaks off.)

Purrari more like?

One last hurrah, and NCTX/Starion is getting in on it directly. Along with assisting the Jackson efforts in GT, the team has acquired a BMW 320i, an E46 chassis, and will enter the TC class at the Spa 24.
