When are you all expecting news?

Yeah I've pretty much come to terms with having no GT in the near future. I am disappointed for sure, but there are plenty of other brilliant games coming to the PS3 soon. My money is on an almighty publishing campaign revolving around E3. There arent any significant exclusives coming out in the final quater of 2010, so it makes sense they should release it worldwide around then. Dare I even say christmas? :scared:.

I just wish sony could be a bit more honest with us. If it turns out there was a major programming delay/problem, who here would begrudge them more time to sort it out? Even if it is a pure marketing decision, I very much doubt poliphony to be sitting on thumbs! All this 'extra' time will give them the opportunity to implement new ideas or just test and re test the old ones.

The longer the wait, the better it will be. So do yourselves a favour and dust off FIFA or something :)

By the way, I was checking the release date for Heavy Rain earlier, and I happened to notice that the GT5 pre-order date, over the last week or so, has changed from march 9th, to august 13th. Maybe ASDA know something we dont :dunce:

I have a horrible feeling the next news isn't going to be good. 6month - 1year delay. If the engine was anywhere near ready for production the TT demo would have been running on it IMO.
Did you want to download a 2-3GB "demo" running on the full engine? I sure wouldn't. The point of the trial was to get the best drivers, physics were important, graphics were not.

TGS 2010?? E3 2011?? Or will GT5 be an PS4 launch title??

I ain´t trust Sony and PD anymore... They told so often "big news soon" "GT5 release is soon" "BIG Screens at TGS" bla bla bla...

Some opinions are dumb, IMO. Did you want to download a 2-3GB "demo" running on the full engine? I sure wouldn't. The point of the trial was to get the best drivers, physics were important, graphics were not.
You really believe that graphics were dumbed down so much?! The demo was small because there was very little in it - just one bland track that is bland in real life, and two similar cars. Subsequent footage of the game showed little/no difference in graphics between the TT and the same track in the CES demo. However, that same CES demo showed some very pretty footage of the Tokyo track. Was that dumbed down too?

While I fully accept that the engine is not finalised yet, and is subject to ongoing tweaks and improvements, to expect a huge leap in graphical quality over what you saw... you really are kidding yourself.

Yes, the final build can't be much more better looking.

But... it will be better than anyone has seen on their own TV before. Forget youtube videos, i've seen that Tokyo track first hand on a similar TV to my own, and it was far more impressive than youtube (including HD) shows. As for the TT track, i agree, i don't expect it to look much better, BUT, i'm sure it would look better with Pit crews, and a full crowd of supporters.

The tgs Replay on Gamersyde does it job:sly:

For sure it will look better on your own TV compared to YouTube videos, but people expecting a leap in graphics really are kidding themselves. Not going to happen, not on PS3.

I'm confident in saying that i'm sure the time for Desperation has already been and gone.

Have a look around, how many members have you seen come and go.

Look at the way Amar was treated.

......and i've not been posting here much more than 6 months. Reading many years before that.

This is more like the Depression Thread than Desperation...:indiff:

I am dying for new news...and today I am playing GT5p all over again...yes...from the very beginning.

And I am too, saddened by the fact that people like Amar is gone.

Personally, I think the delay in the Japanese release date has something to do with the massive launch of 3D-TV's that Sony is planning. It has been stated that GT5 will support 3D, and it would be somewhat lame to release GT5 and say, yeah, it supports 3D, but you can't see that on any commercially available TV yet. (Afaik, Sony are currently planning worldwide availability of 3D-TV's in March/April). Also, the PS3's system has to be updated to support 3D, and the new version might not be completely ready for release yet.

And then TV's ready, release of Avatar as 3D Blu Ray, release of GT5 as first real 3D-game ... could be a one-time chance to sell those TV's.

And until both things are done, OS ready and TV's available, or at least they know when both will be, they might hold GT5 back, so they can release all together.

Seriously.... how many people are going to buy GT5 AND a brand new 3d hdtv?
Gt5+3dtv bundle maybe?...lol

Just imagine how KY felt if Sony did come to him and told him "we're gonna push back your release date for XXX marketing resons." Extra time to perfect the game? I don't think he'd fight it. I think 'marketing decisions' is as good a reason as any for the delay.

I don't think PD will be breaking any traditions with GT5. That is to say, the end is probably not near at all.

I said "engine" theres no reason to expect the engine code to be significantly different to the prologue version in terms of size but PD took great pains to point out that it was only the physics part that was included. If they can use the new physics that suggests the new physics are done.

The fact that the rendering and sound pipelines weren't included suggests to me they aren't finished yet, let alone the deformation/damage stuff. Bearing in mind that the demo's they are showing at trade fairs aren't necessarily running on PS3 hardware I smell a rat.

There are no real news since GT5 Prologue. Ok, GT5 Time Trial contains just one car and track, but at least that's nothing. I don't think that any news will make me happy about GT5.

Btw, I think Amar is gone because he's tired of this s**t too. C'mon, 5 years for one game?!?!?!

Yeah I´m sure... We get an "GT5 is coming soon" 👍

Not in a good mood today, got up on the wrong side of the bed?

What i was saying is we got to see a new track for stage one of the GT Academy TT.
So maybe we get to see a new car or track for stage two!

I think the car will be still The 370z, but yeah the new track is what I wait for.

Well I will put it this way... there better be something at E3 2010 or else I will loose a lot of faith in a 2010 release date. E3 2010 would be the first event where if there was nothing or very little I would classify it has a major disappointment.
