WHO IS STARTING TO GET VERY VERY SICK OF SEEING SO MANY NISSANS AND MAZDAS IN USED CARS?!?!?!?!

add some diversity geeze, I feel like I just beat the water temple in Link to the Past when a US car shows up in the used car lot.

Inches won't do - The track is, at no point, more than 15 mm off of the real world... scary - really...
 
Well, to those who say this game sucks because of how the game is saved makes you have to deal with bad decision and you can't cheat by going back to your previous save; IMO, you all suck.

To those who complain about the physics and handling of the cars, because now you know how much you suck at driving, since now you actually have to drive the car other than treating the brakes and gas like an on-off switch + now you actually have to know when to brake and turn; IMO, you all suck.

To those who complain about the graphics is not good enough, you all need new HD tv's and appointment with you eye doctor.

The 900 degree steering alone makes this a really good game, not to mention this is by far the most realistic , advance and sophisticated racing/driving on console to date.

One more piece of advice, don't buy it if are not sure, and for the people who hates it, don't by the next version and go back to your NFSU neon undercar lighting.

This game is not for beginners and casual noobs

Honestly, that's probably exactly what a used car lot in Japan looks like. So I'm very not surprised.
 
^^ Isn't used car lot 1 for JPN cars, and Lot II for the rest of the world? Not sure... haven't been into that part of the game yet.
 
lol all JPN cars, both 1, 2, and Mostly Historic. In matter of fact...I really dont know what the use of Historic is besides having old JPN cars

well, this is as REAL as it gets, picture yourself as a salesman at let's say Toyota, then a buyer comes and buys a Celica without paying (without saving), then he tunes it, maybe even wrecks it and drives it for 10.000km and returns it (load a previous save game), now is that real?

Not REALly. If you were to buy a car from a dealership, they would let you TEST DRIVE it first, no? There should be a test drive option in GT4 if there's no re-load glitch.

lot 2 is late 90's
historic lot is 80's

I walked into my local ferrari/bently dealership the other day... they where not to keen on letting me run a few test laps in a 360 modena.

I got burned by the autosave myself (damn you lotus 7... er chateram fireblade or whatever..) I have the car now and Im stuck with it. (its an awsome car BTW... just sucks you cant race it!) but its not like I would not buy it eventualy anyway.
 
The addition of the mid 80's Volvo 240 wagon made my day. I cannot wait to buy one, and mod the hell out of it.

Sorry to jump in the convo kinda late. I don't have my copy of the game yet, but I havent really set my standards too high. wheel tLook at the differences between GT1 and GT2.. Aside from more cars/tracks/menus and tweaked physics , the game isn't too far off its roots. System limitations in hardware do apply. I think this is why some are seeing the similarites of GT3/4 in the same light. Theres no doubt it will be an amazing racing game and will consume much of my time reguardless of these things. I'm even thinking of purchasing the DF get more into it..Its kinda hard to reinvent the wheel, but try reinventing the racing game and pleasing everyone with your progress.. No easy task..

The only thing I've gathered that I was looking forward to was better AI, but no matter how powerful car your is in any of the game in the series, you have to be able to drive it. You may be able to pinball off walls with that modded 910hp supra in a lower difficulty and win some races, but is that satisfying to the true enthusist? Never...

To those who are whining about gameplay: READ THE COVER. It says "The Real Driving Simulator."

Having ACTUAL TRACK EXPERIENCE, the physics in this game are the most realistic I have ever seen. For example, the Integra Type R was an underpowered, understeering, unresponsive POS in GT3. In GT4, it responds to lift-off oversteer just like its real life counterpart.

Real life racing techniques and characteristics: Trail braking, lift off, throttle steering, brake lock up, tires, countersteer, dive, squat everything is all there and all extremly realistic. <---period.

The DVP wheel adds to all of the above...

Being a GT fan from the beginning, there are a few minor gripes...namely the autosave, but hey, its realistic.

The graphics are FAR better, the foreground graphics don't seem as big of an improvement as the backgrounds, but both are still a lot better than GT3.

GT4 is everything it was supposed to be. I can wait for online mode, offline is gonna keep us all wrapped up long enough. IMO, online play is not that important.

As far as all the delays, here's an indirect quote from a GT4 preview article. "Japanese business culture work in a way such that a final product isn't released until it exceeds the original expectations of the project." They're perfectionists.

Since I figured I get better surround sound by allowing my reciever to decode to Dolby PLIIx and use the stereo setting instead of Dolby II setting which is a bunch of crap.

My only real complaint is switch back and forth from 480 to 1080 for each race. This is the biggest bunch of bull crap. With all these delays you would think it would be a one load per sitting. This is the only thing I hate about the game by the way. So I'll just play it in 480. BASTARDOS

I agree with you 200%.

I have my copy of GT4 waiting at home, I just wish our PAL counterparts could enjoy it with us!
 
Im not saying this so some in particular but, the people are complaing are people who have been playing NFS Underground the last two years. Physics are great, better than before. And some of you are complaining about cars? Look at all the other racers, 30 cars in UNDERGROUND2, MNC: has like 70, forza 250. So 700 is not enough? Maybe PS2 is not capable of running anymore cars.
 
1st impressions and yes it sucks @$$. But what other choice do we all have? I guess we all have to live with it. I'm DONE with GT3 so GT4 is do or die. Physics are bull**** and graphics are ****ty. But. I'm still playing like the rest of us. :/
 
Yeah...I havn't been around for quite some time, and I'm not here to just start a fight...... But I am completly let down. I've been waiting for this game for what seems like forever, and maybe it's my own fault for giving it such high standards....And I mean it IS on a PS2 so it can't be THAT great....The physics arn't real.....And if they are, maybe they're real in terms of the car from the hoodline up, because EVERY car so far deffinatley leans more than a 80's jeep grand wagoneer.... But that's besides the point. I'm not a physics major, nor do I think I know everything about every car.... BUT the cars I have driven in real life and drove their counterparts in the game. The game has yet to get a single one right....But like I said...It's on PS2....Can't expect anything great from a console that's planning rivals that of people who build houses on fault lines..


PS.....Now that I think of it.....I can't tell which has more jaggies...GT3 or GT4.....Gt3 they were larger...but in GT4 there's 5x as many....Oh well..Sacrafices
 
I think GT4 sucks............

No it doesn't totally suck, but it did not live up to expectations. My friend just bought a '69 Camaro SS to mess around with. He bought sports exhaust, race exhaust, supercharger, and N/A tune 1. Then he takes it to the drag strip to do tests, before and after each part is put on. The car sounded close to real at idle, and merely ok when racing down the track. Then he put the sports exhuast on and it sounded MUCH better at idle and better down the track. Then, we got all excited when he equiped the race exhuast, which is basically straight pipe......... And what were we rewarded with???? A full blown angry weed wacker all the way down the 1/4 mile. The race exhuast made the car sound like a TOTAL POS!!! the supercharger didn't help. and unlike the sound of the waste gate for the turbo cars, there is NO supercharger whine......

This is merely the latest disapointment, not the only one. As my friend was looking for a car to buy for his first one, he was pretty much disgusted. I felt his pain, car after car, with under 100hp and that no one (well not us) is ever going to race, not to mention buy. and we're mission other cars, like classic mustangs, ANY firebirds!, no Italian SuperCars that we all are familiar with.

GT4 for me and my best friend, is basically GT3.5
I'll play it, but it's just not what i was hoping for at all. And i'm not buying a New TV just take advantage of the graphics for a $50 game.
 
Gran Turismo SUCKS because it doesn't have garbage trucks and buses like in Burnout 3!!

250 cars would be fine if they were all worthwhile. I like the Scion cars, but why waste the disk space for them on a GT game????? 20 f'ing Skylines????????? Give a break!! Are you telling me that everyone of those skylines, drives different enough to justify putting them ALL in the game?? 10 NSX's???? why?

But, it is a Japenese game, made by Japenese folks, so i guess Americans aren't the only selfcentered culture out there.


PS. speaking of wasting disk space They have like 20 different SHUTTER TONES in photo mode!!! Shutter tones???? are you kidding me???? someone actually thought to put that in the game???????
 
It sucks that i have to wait until 2.march for this game,while people who don't understand or appreciate this product can (or could) play all day long...

i personally think that the graphics in gt3 are much better in almost every way. In my opinion 480p looks worse than interlaced and the 1080i isnt much better. Just the art and the levels in gt3 were cooler and more pleasing to the eye. I think the sound in gt4 is o.k. depending on what car. THe american muscle cars in the game all sound like weed wacking pieces of ****. I still like the game
