Who thinks GT4 sucks?

i personally think that the graphics in gt3 are much better in almost every way. In my opinion 480p looks worse than interlaced and the 1080i isnt much better. Just the art and the levels in gt3 were cooler and more pleasing to the eye. I think the sound in gt4 is o.k. depending on what car. THe american muscle cars in the game all sound like weed wacking pieces of ****. I still like the game

Wow, I love the graphics in this game and I think they are an insane improvement over gt3.

My only gripes: ice racing is really hard to get used to. I would have liked the races layed out in a more linear fashon like gt3 (go 1 place to race, not 52). I was a little unimpressed with the physics but now that I figured out how to change my DFP to "simulation" setting I am hoping it will be better.

Also - the fact that so many BMW's are in this game is awesome. I would have payed $150 for this game for that alone!

I personally really like the game, i like the fact the brakes are more realistic, i like the more pronounced weight transfer. The music does suck, but what are you gonna do? We all usually fire up our own stuff in the background anyways.

Everyone's talking about the autosave feature. I went to gameshark.com and now have over 3 billion dollars. LOL Now i can freely mod and drive as i please.

Overall i really love this game. Well worth the wait.

....The physics arn't real.....And if they are, maybe they're real in terms of the car from the hoodline up, because EVERY car so far deffinatley leans more than a 80's jeep grand wagoneer

Go take your stock street car on a track and come back to me with the second half of that statement. Going from driving a 02 GTI 1.8T at HPDEs (High Performance Drivers Education Events) and driving one in this game with simalar mods, it's almost scary how close it is to handling like the real thing. With S2 tires it brakes, rolls, and understeers just like the real car does. I'm sure the people who have taken their cars to a road course appreacite this game much more then the avrage joe would. I know me and my friends are going to be using this as a tool to pratice our race lines and learing how to control lift off etc..

lift off oversteer on FF cars wooohooo! (just like in my Ford Focus!!) can't wait 13 days to go!(try the M5 in GT prologue with road tyres on Citta de Aria, much fun!)

Personally I will play the game with an open mind in the beginning and make my judgements then, everyone has a right to their own opinion, and I'll post mine when i get it and not hypothesize why i hate/like the game before I get it.(unlike some people)

However I think the old enemy of HYPE is the main problem here, way to much of it IMO, PD were never going to be able to release a product that could meet the hype created, there would always be something that they hadn't included that would get someones' back up and upset them.

And as has been said previously it's a PS2! ooollllddd tech people, just look how far pc's have progressed in the last few years.

Why do people keep saying that the brakes lock up?! Play Toca or RBR and mash the brakes, THEN you'll see what lock up is.

You should use N class tyres if you want realism, definetly not S2.

But it ISN'T hype, it's just common sense to expect flaws from GT1 to be resolved and some new additions by now!!

the big problem of the us version or all in general is the points sytem doesnt make sense, wats up with the unnecesary huge wings, and why can't you play gt mode without a memory card.
In general its a great game but it could of been a lot better. And the rating gamespot.com gave it is just not right.

I honestly thought I was going to be playing the game all night, but in all honesty, I popped GT3 back in after about an hour and a half.

OK so you don't like it but you've only experienced aproximately 1.3% of the alleged game length, and the hype has been present for the series has been there since GT 1 and getting worse ever since.

Some things were changed others not, they are keeping us hooked on the series, hoping the next one will be better and therefore buying it!

Only thing i was disappointed with was.. no REWIND and FAST FORWARD in replays... if i'm wrong some one PM me ASAP!!! And how do u get around that? Like say i run 10 laps and i want to watch my 9th lap. I have to wait the whole time?!?!

250 cars would be fine if they were all worthwhile. I like the Scion cars, but why waste the disk space for them on a GT game????? 20 f'ing Skylines????????? Give a break!! Are you telling me that everyone of those skylines, drives different enough to justify putting them ALL in the game?? 10 NSX's???? why?

But, it is a Japenese game, made by Japenese folks, so i guess Americans aren't the only selfcentered culture out there.


PS. speaking of wasting disk space They have like 20 different SHUTTER TONES in photo mode!!! Shutter tones???? are you kidding me???? someone actually thought to put that in the game???????

Hey, dont complain so much. If there was only 1 Skyline in the damn game, you would see stupid posts like where is the GT-S blah blah blah. The only reason they put different ones because its a popular car. Anyway, if the game was online, all the skylines wouldnt look the same.(if it were online which will hopefully happen!) Some of those skylines drive different(suspension is different, some are lighter than the others and so on) But then again your right about making different ones. Thats like SRS. There was all the 5 model Z's, and they performed the same. LOL

I just got the game last night and I've been playing it, and I disagree with anyone who says it sucks. Especially the people who said that the AI is still "stupid." The beginner races (even though they were still really easy) - were way harder than in GT3. The only thing i can really complain about is the HUD in 3rd person mode

I was going into a turn, the cars front whent down while i was braking. The cars rear was really flimsy, like in real life. I crashed. I was amazed by the physics.

quit whining about this. they are a japanese company, so they obviously will have a bias toward japanese cars. it's not like you are being forced to buy this game, and it be the only racing game you own. if you want to race a car that isn't in this game, go play another game, or learn to appreciate what 700 cars are already in here. ok 650 (even i thought so many skylines was funny, especially when it's the exact same specs for 3 different ones, but with different names and colors, lol)

Hi guys,

Now to start off, I'd just like to say that I am as big of a GT fan as the next guy. I've lived, ate, and breathed GT ever since the days of GT1, so I was anxious as anyone else to get my hands on GT4. I've been around forums for years and know how it when a n00b comes on with 0 posts, but I'm going to speak the truth.

I got GT4 today at about 4:00 PM. And ya know what? I'm not impressed. I honestly don't like it.

For one, the gameplay/driving in GT4 is just...weird. I really can't describe it, but I hate it. I know it will take time to get used to it, just like the changes from 1 to 2 to 3, but the first time I popped in either one of the first three, I don't remember NOT liking the driving style. GT4, however, is just awkward. Even though I know I'll get used to it, it has left a bad taste in my mouth.

The gauges also suck harcore. In GT3, I liked to be very precise with my shift-points. In GT4, there aren't even hatches for every 100 RPM! 👎

But the one thing that REALLY pisses me off though is the autosave crap. I tried "normal" and "restricted" or whatever from the options menu, and its the same thing. The game automatically saves/overrites when you buy/sell a car. WTF is that?! I'd like to chose when I want the game info to be saved, thank you. This means you cant just mess around and buy cars and mod them for the hell of it when you have no intentions of keeping it. Or, if you just wanna sell a few cars to buy one nice car which you can't afford otherwise. With this, it will automatically save whenever you buy/sell anything. Lame.

If there is one thing you guys can help me on, it is the saving issue. Maybe I'm just mistaken? But how do you get it back to the previous style, where it ONLY saves when you tell it to?

Im gonna do my best to be nice to you, but when I read this thread this morning I thought for sure that sony messed up the game, but I think you never knew how to play any of the GT games. sorry to say.

This game if anything seems (so far) the easiest to play. The style of driving did change a bit but not to the extent that you made it out to be.

As far as the auto save, I dont have a problem with it at all.

Look dude I just think you cant play the game thats all so dont trash it for the rest of us.

GT is still number one!!!!

OK, my first impression of this game isn't so great. The AI is even more lame, IMO. The cars are hard to control with the DS2, the car movement while racing is very "twitchy" and the cars understeer a little too much for my tastes. I understand I need to get use to this game, but man, this game can be painful at times.

I also don't like the inconsistencies in the game like the Licenses Tests. Some are so easy, a small child could even do it, but then a humdinger just wakes up on you and it's GT3 license test B8 all over again. Same with regular races. Even certain races in GT Mode were oddlly inconsistent. One race giving me 116 points and being very difficult, but another race offering me 148 points in the same car, and it ends up bieng the easiest race to win ever. Well here's to hoping I get used to it.

Oof! The game has been out one day and people are already ready to put it in the "unplayable" stack of old games under the TV.

I don't know when they'll announce the working title for the next game in the series, but it's been flying around the office that it will be GT5 Prolonged.
