Bravo Spliff. Nice retort. I'm just happy it's out and that I'm getting it and the DFP for 104 bucks total. Yes, it's an over-hyped game and as with all such games, there is the inevitable letdown (look at Doom 3 for instance). But please please don't gripe about it too much. PD did extremely well in my opinion and the crap being spewed about how bad some people think it is is getting out of hand.
 
A man with comman sense, can see the reality and post something intelligent. and it supported my point, now I'm happy! I would also like to point out another factor about the GT Series. This will make you safer on the road if played correctly, it is as close as possible to the real deal. Do you see the bull**** this started! Ignorance is truly bliss! I would rather suffer, oh boy do I!
 
Calling a game with over 700 cars and a well captured nuerburgring (not mentioning other tracks or improvements) an upgrade is just a dumb joke,and by the way i would pay 50 euro for a game that accurately simulates 10 nice different cars on the ring,and still be very happy that i won't have to pay for gas and tires...

I wasn't going to add any more fuel to this fire but I'm finding that the topic seems to be spiraling away from the central point driven by nothing more than an unwillingness to see another point of view - kind of like the world's political situation at the moment now I think about it :lol:.

There's a lot of chest-beating and denial in the preceeding pages that amounts to blind religious fervour.

Gentlemen, it is a video game, produced by a commercial organisation to make money and they've made a few mistakes by the sounds of things.

Because it's a console game, they can't simply patch it after the fact without taking an enormous loss, so any problems people are having with the game they are pretty much stuck with.

However, that doesn't mean complaining about the errors is futile. Just that you have to direct your complaints to the makers and distributors. If there is a sufficient body of negative feedback then it's possible that more effort to avoid problems will be taken the next time. Staying silent is counterproductive as that then means that the manufacturers either think nothing is wrong or, more probably, think they can get away with sloppy product because people will buy it anyway.

Until I get the PAL version I'm keeping an open mind; that's a tactic that may help those of the membership whose blood-pressure is reaching boiling point because an opinion has been raised that all is not perfect in our long-awaited GT4.

95% of the complaints i see are just bull****!!! I mean,where's the point in reading a review on driving physics written by a 15 year old kid,that has his whole "experience" from need for speed underground...?

I never complained about the physics, and this is definetly the most realistic GT to date, but it's not realistic enough to be a true sim, so stop pretending like it is.

Sure,it has some flaws like AI or the missing damage model,but we already knew that that's not gonna be the strong side of GT...it focuses on something else...("The real DRIVING SIMULATOR" does that mean something???hmm,i don't know :dunce:...

So you're content to drive around a track, and then drive somemore, and then even more....Although I love doing that, (nothing can beat driving '60s cars or Caterham's through the Nurb or GT's around Le Mans) it's not what I expect from a game that is the FOURTH in the series. And don't start with the "Real Driving Similulator", that's just a lame excuse for not having decent competition and to presuade buyers that driving in GT is just like driving in real life and you should be content with JUST that.

735 cars and not only{but surely enough of} such above 500hp???yeah,it really sucks to be able to drive just about EVERY car {maybe yours but with the turbo that you never could afford,but always dreamt of} :dunce: if you don't like to drive them you can still inform yourself about them)

I love Daihatsu Midgets, Moves, Honda Life Step Vans and a Daimler Motor Carriage. I love having 19 RX-7s and less American cars than Nissan Skylines. I love all this in a ****ing GRAND TOURING game. Yes, I know it's not just GT's, but when they leave out so many great cars in favor of this, even the blindest fanboy can see it's just filler.

List me what they have improved, apart from physics and the inclusion of the Nurburgring.

Finally, don't get me wrong, I don't hate GT4, in fact I've played it more than any other game of last year already, it's just I'm fed up of people not seeing how great this could have been!

I am done here, passed on my knowlegde to educate. But need to go take a dump, hungry for fish. You know they say it's good the brain, just sayin not complaining! GT5 is going to be the best yet, mark my words!

The only disappointment I have about the game is the fact you cant play 2 player with your own garages and tuned cars.

You seem to be beating a dead horse, we already know gt4 doesnt have damage or online play and the ai isnt great, but how about enjoying what it does do well instead of moaning about things that cannot be changed

you complain about paying 40 quid for gt4 well what other game offers so much content for this price? i sure as hell cant think of ANY

Shouldn't a game CHALLENGE the player instead of being everybody's darling by letting you drive a 700 hp car in virtually every cup in order to make all beginners and losers happy, instead of adding a "easymode" ? :banghead:

I just don't get it.... apart from gameplay, the structure of a game is the most important thing;

After the grafic next gen bonus of GT3 I just think GT4 did not deliver what it should have, and Gt2 with its PS classes just was much better... I mentioned this before at least 2 times, sorry that I repost it, but I can't count the statements concerning too many Skylines anymore...I mean, THAT is really not GT's problem....

If there is one thing nobody can complain about its variety of cars in gt4

The game is only as hard as you make it... If you wanna go through it like a monkey on crack, do so.. OTOH - if you want to make the game challenging - you're free to do so.. A little annoying that you have to check the competition, then exit and so forth. But for a old geezer like me, with plenty of time and no need to complete the game in the fewest number of days - I couldn't care less...

First off there IS ALOT MORE DETAIL IN THE GAME, if you dont expect there to be a period required to adapt to the 3d engine required to give grafix at this level, YOU SUCK! Secondly, the feel only took 2 races to get used to (what you probably dont like is the fact that the throttle/break imputs, or more important the level of imput has more bearing in this game, so you have to be more reluctant to go WOT (wide, open, throttle) Someone playing with the same technic's of the previous GT series games would feel like somethings off (I embrasse it and enjoy the elevated reralism)

and a final note about the saving, (Do you want some cheese with that WINE?)

TURN IT OFF OR REMOVE YOUR MEMORY CARD!!!

Come on, if your really all that of a fan of the GT series, you whould have more respect and ask solutions to your ishues to see if there is a resolution (restricted saves/ memory card removal) before you spew some bull****.

& dont get your panties in a knot because I callled you a ***** (THATS LIFE) When you put your opinion on the chopping table!
 
I got it yesterday - and I thought it was "different". It feels very different - and that is not a bad thing. It is actually very fun - I really enjoy it. I think it is one hell of a game and I can't wait to play it when I get home.

But there are some downfalls as well. The gauge in third person mode is not to my liking. The cars feels very different - but I will get use to it as I continue to play it. All games are like this - you aren't use to it so you think it feels weird and different.

Give it some time. It should be really fun.

Is it just me or is there no penality in the game? I ran into another car head on - and I got no penality. Of course I was in Arcade mode - I haven't tried it in a real GT4 race yet.

I guess I will get my turn to have my first impression on GT4. I have to wait till Thursday (tomorrow) though.

But you guys have to understand, no game is perfect. There are many who hates GT4, and many who loves GT4. There is no need for arguements when one person is simply stating their opinions.

I have to wait till march 15th to actually buy the game (darned two-week delay for paycheck #1) All the "eloquent" complaints are making me look forward to buying the game even more.

By all standards I would say im a huge GT fan...but I'm not a single-minded twit either. If I don't like the game, my world wont come to an end. As a matter of fact I was truly disappointed when I found out you couldnt race modify normal cars in GT3...but guess what...I got over it and I consider GT3 as the best (since I havent played GT4 yet) racing game I have ever played.

And I'm going to play it for more than a few hours before I give up and whine about it :)

Well, that is always the reaction when I mentionthe "challenge thing"...
(First of all I should say that I don't think Gt4 sucks and that it is the best sim out there at the moment.)

Ok so I can challenge myself...wow how motivating...
I'm not a hardcore-gaming-only player that laughs about todays game difficulties and cries for the SNES/MD-nosavepoints-onehitandyouraredead-extreme games....
BUT the actual structure is just boring... why no "easy mode" than you can choose right in the beginning instead of forcing me to make my life difficult myself
by taking weak cars I don't HAVE to drive.... I mean who likes playing a jump'n run with invulnerability and 999 lives etc? easy-normal-hard... that always worked...
did you ever play Gt2? I guess you did, it was not unfair at all, challenging yes, but not unfair....how many people cried "uu it is sooo difficult"

I've played about 40% of GT4 so far, and I'm seriously bored right know, waiting for my japanese copy of Enthusia and playing Kaido Battle 2 and Mario KART (SFC)... I loved GT right from the beginning as I enjoyed the japanese Gt1 in early 1997.... Gt4 is a solid game, but it could have been so much more just by adding a little structure to the game.....

The only place I have found to have any penalty is the "Special Conditions" Hall.
Don't hit anything at more than 40 mph or you get a 5 sec. penalty. Rally d' Umbria the first race is extremely challangeing, narrow streets, sharp corners (tight track). first couple of times I felt like a pinball, got smoked by 43.56 sec.
 
OMG some one said a game I like sucks!!1! I'll be an arse about it rather then saying why I think it doesn't suck in a constructive way. I'm sure Gt4 is a fine game, but I can see why people may be dissapointed about it, it was hyped up so much etc, it was never gonna deliver to everybodys expectations.
 
This game is not the greatest ever. It is good, however.

And LAN mode is so friggin' fun...
 
Well I got my copy of GT4 last night, and I havent played the simulation mode yet, only Arcaed so far with my bro. All I can say is the graphics do look very good, and someone a few pages back said the cars were too hard to control, All I can say is yes they are a little hard to control, maybe because there more realistc but hey after 2-3 races im deff. getting the hang of it. yea I do go off tracka few times but hey its diffrent, and that doesnt bother me. The only thing I have a problem with so far is you could only choose one car at a time in arcade mode, which takes longer to get into a race, but eh that just a very very small complaint, nothing to really make a huge hype over. The car sounds are really well done aswell. Now some of you are saying "oh the game is getting boring" Well thats proably because your playing it 6-7hrs a day and over killing it. Me I take it easy and play it for what it is a game, I personally dont play games like its a contest and I have to beat someone to actually finish it. Just like a new music cd, it could be the greatest cd in the world and if you listen to it over and over 6 hrs straight everyday for 2-3 days, eventually your gonna get sick of it and never listen to it again.

Anyways So far I like it, its diffrent, the arcade menus are really good etc.. I just cant wait to go home later and try out the actual simulation mode and see how that looks and works. I proably wont use the gt3 save because of the fact that I want the challenge. Thats what makes the game fun. Starting from the bottom. There deff could of been alot of improvemts to the game, liking hiring your pit crew staff and having sponsers etc.. But hey atleast I have something to look for in GT5... Well happy playing everyone (well for the ones who actually like the game and are playing it).

I guess I'm trying to put my point across, it's getting real boring driving against AI cars because all they are are obstables - you may as well put blocks on wheels as competition. I try hard to restrict my cars to get maximum A spec points, but it's all so easy since races don't depend on the other cars, all they are are time trials with other cars thrown in. And this isn't even the only problems with GT4, there are numerous others if you look. While I put up with it for GT1, 2 and 3, I'm just a bit pissed that I've put nearly £220 into a series that doesn't evolve.
 
Here's the bottom line: if you like other gt games you will love this one. I got my copy yesterday and played about 8 hours straight, and I wish I could have played more. Everything is better than before; graphics, sounds, courses, cars. The physics are a little hard to get used to, but try playing gt2 after playing gt3 for a while. It's going to take time to master, just be patient. I played forza's demo yesterday as well and I seiously was laughing. It's not even in the same league. It's just not fun, the graphics are a joke compared to even gt3, let alone gt4, all the displays are hokey pokey, I mean it pretty much sucked.

250 cars would be fine if they were all worthwhile. I like the Scion cars, but why waste the disk space for them on a GT game????? 20 f'ing Skylines????????? Give a break!! Are you telling me that everyone of those skylines, drives different enough to justify putting them ALL in the game?? 10 NSX's???? why?

But, it is a Japenese game, made by Japenese folks, so i guess Americans aren't the only selfcentered culture out there.


PS. speaking of wasting disk space They have like 20 different SHUTTER TONES in photo mode!!! Shutter tones???? are you kidding me???? someone actually thought to put that in the game???????

There hasnt been a skyline in any of the games i havent owned....just shows you how sick i am :)

American Culture has every reason in the world to be self-centered...economic, scientific and political hub of the world, saved the world from tyrrany on no less than two (possibly three...results pending) times, and thats only the beginning....

And I have no idea what shutter tones are...sorry
 
YAY! im getting mine today and im super duper excited.....none of the cons people have stated have absorbed into my brain yet, so i guess when i encounter them, i'll make my own conclusions.
most of the people on this forum seem to be educated and friendly, but there will always be the choice few who think they are kings and reign over everyone.

Just like a new music cd, it could be the greatest cd in the world and if you listen to it over and over 6 hrs straight everyday for 2-3 days, eventually your gonna get sick of it and never listen to it again.

Well, playing GT4 since yesterday for a few hours is simply not enough to realize gamestructrerelated problems, believe me....

I personally didn't overplay it at all as I study.... that could be the reason, but it isn't... Well games are always about winning and and not wanting to lose... that is the ultimate meaning of videogames; I also like to just test cars and drive around enjoying the driving simulator, but just simulating a car is not enough for 99% of the players... well let's say 95%....
