As the George Bernard Shaw quote goes... "We do not cease to play because we grow old. We grow old because we cease to play."

A recent scientific study showed that playing video games improved the mental acuity of people in assisted living centers for the elderly.

As for me I am 69 soon to be 70 and play GT5 almost everyday.

👍

I believe the Nintendo Wii sold shedloads of units due to this, especially in the UK.

Seems like there is more mature players than might be expected. Could be fun to make a simple pool.
0 - 16
17 - 25
26 -35
36 - what ever

Something like that!

47. Started racing on the PC many years ago with Papyrus' Indycar Racing and NASCAR Racing. Took a decade or more long break for wife, kids, etc.
Got a PS3 & GT5 when it was released. God I missed a lot in those years. Really really really enjoying GT5. Clean shuffle/spec lobbies provide some awesome racing if you know which hosts to stick with. Looking forward to the kids growing up so I get more time behind the wheel.

45 here and started with GT1.
Now with GT5 and endless nights of electronics along with equipment education under my belt I have built a dream racing simmulator that rivals what you can buy.
The young just waste time but the mature do it in style!

Whats with this 40 thing i'm confused :D can anyone explain this to me

Well it used to be the "over the hill" or "midlife crisis". But when you get there, your still in dis-belief that your 40.

No i meant 40, does level 40 have higher levels or is it age???? I'm not really sure

Well I wished when I hit age 40 that it would stop adding up,like levels in GT5.

Ohh so if it's age i don't belong here im barely half or almost half of 40 :D but i would still play videogames if i get married to my GF who play videogames too (all day also!)

it's amazing when a thoughtful thread is started and someone just has to try and change the mood of it. (Dragonwhisky) I'm not going to name names but i think this person has some kind of complex as a result of his mother thinking I have to answer to him to prove something. this is the kind of person I like to add to my block list for the reason they are never happy if someone has something interesting to share that makes them feel like they were ripped from the center of attension when they were never there.

Just wow. Lighten up. You can just go bite that chip on your shoulder.

Was just a tongue and cheek effort to satisfy my curiosity regarding this epic sim rig you've built.

/ignore Toyzri active.

45 years old and have been playing since GT1.

2 years ago I made the GT Academy UK finals, so there's hope for the old ones.

I've got just ten days till I'm officially in the 40yr old. club. It's always great to communicate with other adults that enjoy the same hobby. Sometimes the kids can be a little much handle in the forums and online.

In F1 terms I'm on lap 42 around the sun. GT3 was my first real racing game. I just recently got my personal best GT5 TT result at Spa in the FGT (40th, LOL).

I have been to racing school driving F2000 race cars, and the first comment I got from instructors was "you sure you've never raced before?" That's why it's hilarious when people belittle the time we spend in games like GT5. You know that scene in Rising Sun when Wesley Snipes tries to call BS on the edited security disk and Tia Carrere says "where have you been, Lt. Smith, you don't think video can be altered?"

Respect to all of you in 50s, 60s, 70s... gives me hope that there's no reason to stop if you enjoy it (and with the technical advances, this is an exciting time)! Can't wait to see what my game rig will be like in another 10 years...

Well put FormulaKimball, like yourself I got hooked on sim racing back when GT3 premiered and I haven't looked back. My friends list consists of guys and girls from all continents and of all ages. We love to drive and we appreciate the effort that and attention to detail that has been put into GT5. If you know the game then you know that we are not alone as adults in our passion and the list of serious car enthusiasts that have made mention of owning GT5 and racing sims includes names like Clarkson and Leno so hats off to you all. I'm glad to be member of this unofficial club of adults and gamers!!
