Do you think GT will EVER end

Well yes and no, GT may end......especially if GT7 flops. But they could go a new direction or even resurrect Tourist Trophy. Maybe develop a midnight racing game as they love lighting and the night sky so much.

I won't be surprised if they cancel GT after 6. I haven't tried it yet (still waiting on Amazon) but after seeing the sales numbers it is gonna be hard to follow up with a GT7. Kinda sad cause GT was my first racing game, but all good things must end eventually.

Considering the massive flop GT6 was I wouldn'tt be surprised if they ended after this..

Only reason why GT could end is budget issues, if the future games don't make profit for Sony then there will be no reason to continue the franchise.

That's very unlikely since a lot of people are waiting for GT7 on the PS4, it will make a lot profit without a doubt.

GT is currently in NO danger of going belly up. One hiccup in sales won't be the death of them. If GT7 and 8 follow suit? Then maybe we should worry. But I don't think they will be.

How bad the GT6 sales were for PD/Sony really depends on the budget. We know GT5 was huge but I can't see why GT6 would have been anywhere close bearing in mind it's built off GT5 and had a much shorter dev time. Even with just 2 to 4 million sales they'll probably turn a good profit but they must still be worried by the huge drop.

Of course it will, it may be several more years but eventually it will be a thing of the past just like so many other things are now.

Not necessarily.... I know someone who would vehemently refute that theory:

GT-XX - The Real Mario Simulator?

They could argue it, could try to refute it but that does not change anything. All things come to an end it is just a matter of when.

Mario did, Spyro did, Crash did, Kong did, Megaman did, Metro did. Some were just revived years later, but there was a period where they were gone but not forgotten.

I Miss Crash.

edit: even Rayman did til the Wii came out.

The only reason GT should end are if: 1. Kaz dies in some sort of horrible accident and they cancel the series in respect for its creator.
2. If PD suddenly file for bankruptcy with no way out.
3. If the Racing Sim concept loses interest.

Gran Turismo is one of Sony's babies, and it's PD's only baby. They wouldn't end it suddenly like that, with all of the competition coming out soon.

That being said, they do need to work on stepping their game up a bit, to keep with the times. They have a new blank canvas to work with (PS4) and hopefully they will do good things with it.

Only if there is a significant alteration in the vision of the series will it end. Either that or if Sony goes bankrupt. Before GT6, PD were rather formulaic in their approach towards the development of the games, with Sony hurrying them along to get done in order to fit the release window, which resulted in the numerous delays to GT5. However GT5 sold relatively well. It was obviously Sony's idea to eschew the prologue version of GT6 to circumvent the hypothetical delays in the development cycle, resulting in sections of the finished product being left behind at the time of release, and subsequently underachieving in the sales department. I'm quite positive that PD are going to learn from this mistake as they were long heralded as developers who would never resort to anti-consumer tactics. To sum that all up, if GT does end, it will be because of the creators, not the consumers.

Can I revote? Because yes, GT has to end at some point. It can't go on forever. Look at Burnout (my most favorite franchise ever), is dead. Bomberman is dead. Ridge Racer is dead (thanks to RR Vita and RR UB...) Things must always come to a end. Hell, GT seems like it's going to die because PD refuses to listen (and are losing trust from fans).

Like I said, popular franchises are killed by their creators fixing what isn't broken (and not fixing what IS broken), not by its fans.

They would have no choice to end it if people stop buying it in big enough numbers. Sony have to justify giving PD a huge budget for each game, if they're not selling enough then the budget will go elsewhere. Simple as that.

no, not any time soon. i'm convinced that unless, pd fixes gt6 gameplay and bugs, gt7 will sell even less, drastically less. forced by that, gt8 will be what GT should have been, in tems of gameplay (not graphics), since number 5 (i mean gt5, not channel nº5).

to me, an "race creator for career mode" would make so much diference! from empty to full!

Its sad but if they continue in the vein of GT6, then yes it will end, any more half finished, buggy un supported GT titles and as soon as there is an alternative ( P Cars ) people will start to leave

Sadly, I think the end of gran turismo is closer than we expect.
Especially if they don't fix the biggest issues.
PS4 might be the last breath for GT. If they don't make things right, someone else will.
People get tired of broken promisses and false advertising, it's already the begining of the end.

Sure it will, leave it to Kaz. He seems to have a pretty good idea on how to kill the series. He's been at it for a decade, just a little more now.

GTP forum will be trolling Kaz and PD long after GT ends

Everyone will start arguing over which of their posts was the final nail in the coffin

Eventually you will become ashamed of your efforts, and argue over who feels the most sad

There would be backlash, but given PD's inconsistency to respond to its fans, there would be a surge of indie, fan-made projects dedicated to the memory of the franchise. PD might even sense it coming and auction off the franchise. Who knows?

...and you will be there to remove them, straighten them, paint them red and white striped and call them candy canes.

There doesn't have to be a game every year for something to 'end'. There were 16 years between the last Punch-Out game and the Wii one. In fact, Up until 2009 there was a very heavy stream of Crash games too, it's just that nobody wanted to play them and it eventually disappeared. Mario has never died, dunno how you could think that. DK just had a game out last month, and a game on the 3DS a year previous. Megaman has also had games in recent years.

No. Because Ferrari 288 GTO.

In my opinion yes and it will be after GT7 because we will be again disappointed ( they still don't listen us at all , ........ ) and more other they will have for the first time real competitors as Project Cars !!! So IMO gt7 will be the last !

Only maybe if Kaz retires, but I dont see him retiring anywhere soon. He says he has only a % of what he wants to accomplish.

GT could continue as a low budget game. That would be interesting, since development focus would distill out only the important parts. That is, the important parts according to Kaz. I think that'd be vastly more interesting than trying to maintain the circus act of your typical big-budget ROI nonsense. And that's regardless of whether the final product appeals to me as a game.
