Human decisions were removed from realistic hacks. Hybrids begin to learn at a geometric rate.
They became self-aware at 2:12 update. Eastern time, April 24th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

Post of the thread. I look forward to reading how The Hybrid Wars started and brought humanity to the edge of extinction...

I'm still curious if 'hidden' cars (think JP Flag 2010 or Red Bull 5G) were affected/removed from garages or not.

The X2010 JP Flag Color will now cause your console to freeze up upon attempting to drive it. Your best bet is to delete it from your garage. :indiff:

As someone fortunate enough to have access to 2 PS3's, I will just accept the update on one console, and keep the other console at v2.11 so I can enjoy hybrids offline (which is 99% of what they were used for anyway)

Never had it anyway, but good to know. Parroting Sonygamer's question, though, about the 5G.

yup, as soon as I get home from work I'm going to update and go drive online. I had a few but I got rid of them a few weeks ago when the ban threats started. I mostly just go into public rooms and drive & tune, I don't end up racing online all that much and so the hybrids didn't really bother me (aside from getting rammed out of nowhere by some massively overpowered car that I didn't even see coming). In the end it doesn't really bother me that hybrids are gone.

Yep. Just tried to do a Speed Test with the JP Flag Color, and my system locked up. The 5Gs still work though.
Well it is a sad to hear the JP Flag Color is going :(, but im pleased to hear the 5G still exist.

Now everybody, I asked once and I will ask again, if I back up my save before updating, then copy it back when it is done, will I still have my hybrids? (Besides the JP Flag Color)

Will somebody please answer!?!?!?!

You probababily will still have the cars, not the hacked though.. if you click on them they get back to their original state..

There's no reason, to me, why I shouldn't update to 2.12 game data. I never hacked any of my cars (as much as I was curious to try), and I didn't want to be banned because of it. 2.12, here I come...

Well if you back up your save game that has them all before updating it may not. I wanting somebody to try this and see if it works!

EDIT: Nevermind

Well it was fun I do miss my Ferrari fxx ohh so much :'(. I updated without knowing but I do have a back up and a second account that hasn't been updated so ill just use that for hybrding

I must say, I'm quite amused by the patch notes. "Fixes for some minor issues".

Totally explains the patch perfectly.

I've made the tough decision. I'm officially downgrading back to 2.11. I'd much rather drive my unique creations then listen to whiny kids online complaining about how they can't use their X1 because of PP limits and such.
Goodbye GT5 online. Thank you PD for ruining yet another fun experience for us all.

Not to be a prick, but aren't you complaining about how you're not able to use your hybrids anymore?

That wouldn't make you and those whiny kids so different, would it?

Do you really not think PD would have thought of that? No, it won't work.
Well anything is possible nowadays.

Well it's official, im not upgrading especially after what ZDUPH said about the JP Flag Color, im definetly not updating because I don't have much use for online anyway.

I voted no as I am not going to lose my bad bus v8 track toy, so now off to make whole new profile for 2.12. Will update on new profile affect old 2.11 profile?

99% sure yes, Game Data is shared for all profiles/accounts.

The only way to have an online updated version & a non updated offline hybrid version is to have two seperate PS3's.

It's a shame that I don't care what you think. Talk to someone who does.
Welcome to my ignore list.

The update data is shared by every user on the same system, the only way you can have two accounts at two different updates is to have two PS3's.

I have been reading on what this update consist of and I can say that I see no problem with it. I am new to GT5 and I enjoy my horsepower just like anyone else but I do not feel hybrids should be allowed in public lobbies.

I can completely understand the use of these cars offline or with buddies but during a public lobby it is the same as any other mod. It makes the game unenjoyable for many who do not know how or do not want to cheat the game.

In saying that I do see the need for some to do as they wish. The game has been out for a few years now and it is totally understandable that some of you may have gotten bored with the game. I am sure a few months from now the geniuses who mod these games will find a new way around everything, so keep your heads up!

In the name of having fun in your own time without hurting anyone else, here's a how I justify my hybrid experiments.

Very well sums up the main purpose engine swaps have to me, fix/improve sounds of cars that have sometimes very bad sounds when you use them how they came in the game.

Same with chassis swaps, there are many cars with incorrect wheel positions (S15 Silvia and M5 '08 e.g.) that can be easily fixed with a swap.

This goes on with other modding possibilities (like being able to make the Mustang '06 act like the automatic version), there are millions of possibilities to fix what PD hasn't bothered or couldn't fix in the past years, and just think of all the customization and driving pleasure that can be added to game by clever hybrid creators.

And than PD comes in and SMASHES all the fun at once (yet leave the actual cheating abuse-ability to add hidden tuning parts that don't count or count incorrect for the PP value of the car). Actually that's pretty arrogant; "WE'RE THE AUTHORITY, WE DECIDE, YOU FOLLOW". Makes me wonder if PD listen to fans or just rushed their biased decisions on this topic without thinking it through.

I can't believe they force me to choose between this, in my opinion completely different game, or playing online with my PSN friends (which is the only reason this game isn't in my dustbin since a year) on the same old dull game how they created it.
