Codemasters recently announced that they have got the WRC license, and if I remember the comments, they will also be branching out to cover the other race types you mentioned.

Correction: Codemasters has the FIA World Rallycross License.

This really doesn't look impressive at all, will of course still follow and await reviews but not holding my breath.

Weird how rally games in ancient hardware captured the rally feel so well but since the PS3 era it's not been very good at all, the milestone WRC series has come on leaps and bounds but still a far cry from the glory Colin Mcrae rally days :(

I think we can blame it on graphics (authentic long stages take more and more time to develop with each generation) AND the casual console "I want everything easy" mentality. Making a CMR style game with real damage and not enough time to fix it between stages just isn't going to sell these days.

That's true - just look back to DiRT3 which had a hardcore online mode for those who were interested - that lasted perhaps a month before it lost any merit due to empty lobbies. The amount of players who just aren't interested have made the realism aspect just too expensive in an industry where developers can face financial ruin from just one game's reception - so of course they'll go the mass appeal route.

Codemaster's latest though, might help swing that back around. They had cash problems years ago but got backing and seem to be in a better place now (judging by Dirt Rally.)

I agree with you that this "I want everything easy" had ruined most games these days ( resident evil springs to mind!)
And i know it's not quite the same but Project Cars isn't exactly aimed at casual gamers and it seems to have sold pretty well, i just wish a company would take a gamble and do it, miss the glory days of rally games.

Looks a bit rough honestly. I wonder if these are late alpha videos or early beta? I see the vehicles still heavily turn on a central axis. Could be a great game, the videos are just a bit underwhelming.

Experience an even more immersive 2015 season with all of the WRC, WRC2, WRC3 and Junior WRC championship drivers, cars and special stages. Drive with precision along the snow-covered roads of Sweden and the rocky roads of Mexico, and take on the rally legends in 65 unique special stages in the entirely overhauled Career mode. Aggressive, cautious, hot-headed… Unleash the driver!

 tough lighting! I'm sure it's an error, but that did make me smile.

I do think they are stretching the truth a little with the comment about the road surfaces having a real impact for the first time - but hey, I'm still interested.

Yup, going to enjoy the dusk/night driving in this.

Seems like a lot of the assets from Milestone have survived through into this game, so it is looking less and less like a new company having to start from the bottom again and a lot more like the next stage in the development cycle.

I'm sure the Sébastien Loeb game will be better, but I'm liking the look of this too.

It doesn't look bad. In my opinion it will be more arcade than simulation and it will be really fun like the WRC games by evolution studios on ps2. I'm ok with that, i'm not looking for full simulation in rally games, i prefer to have immersive landscapes and a proper career mode. Off course dirt rally will top this and i'm waiting for that a lot. I will wait for reviews and footage for wrc5.

Ah finally some cockpit cam. - Just hoping the allow detailed FoV settings and the ability to remove the visual wheel and driver hands.

wow, more than surprised, i was expecting a super arcade low end title. Looks good. Great. I think i might try it to finish off 2015 waiting for dirt rally on consoles next year

Yep, definitely yep. I'm impressed with how they have built this and the massive improvements since the first footage we saw. love the atmospheric nature of the gameplay; they certainly seem to have been taking notes from the DiRT Rally visuals.

This means I'm going to have to take a break from Driveclub...

mmm Montecarlo doesn't look good at all. Bad landscape. However, as i said, it could be an interesting title considering the delay of Seb Loeb Rally evo and the fact Dirt Rally ( which is clearly the best title) is not yet announced for console.

Well.. i still have to finish project cars and play metal gear... i had much more time when i was a kid going to school... daaamn work :)
