Had been racing at Okayama at weekend but tonight I had my first laps at Limerock in the mx5 cup. I missed the qualifying session so I registered for the race and did some quick practice laps. I started 7th and slowly got my way up to 4th although couple guys in front had a coming together on lap 10. I then did a Q session and did a 59.5xx which put me 2nd on the grid for my next race. Whole race was leader and me nose to tail. Couldn't get close enough to make a safe pass and he made no mistakes so fair play to him.

Limerock is such a great littletrack in the mx5! When you get it right it feels fantastic!

Just hopped in the Mustang today and said I'd give it a try. 20 laps later I was still going in free practice so I said why not try a race in it.

Well I went into a Q session and did a average enough 1:22.7xx.

Went into the race and too my surprise started 3rd, even more to my surprise found out it was a rolling start. Got second before the first turn and after 10 laps of nose to tail racing with the leader he started to get away from me. That left me on lap 15 8 seconds behind 1st and 6 seconds ahead of 3rd. Then the leader runs into traffic, and I don't know whether he went off or was forced to go off but I made 6 seconds and seen a lot of dust. With a backmarker inbetween me and the leader.

The backmarker refuses to let me past and I know if I try to force an overtake I will lose out so I sit there for a few laps. Coming up too the last lap the backmarker makes a mistake and I fly through. 1 lap left 2.2s behind the leader. About halfway through the lap he goes off (The tight hairpin leading into the tight twisty section) and he decides instead of coming back across and wrecking me that he'd go across the grass and wait for me to pass. So with 1/4 of a lap left I have the lead and I win by 3s!

I only led .25 of a lap where as the guy I overtook led 20.75 race distance. Was a great feeling to win my first Mustang race as well, in my first attempt. 👍

Raced the Solstice on Charlotte Road. Finished 2nd overall and in class. Battled the entire race with someone who is starting to become a key rival of mine (He gets placed in just about every Solstice race with me). Last week he beat me, this week I beat him :p Pretty fun stuff. Congrats on the the Win Matt, almost had my first Mustang race win last night, got passed for the lead with 6 laps to go..

Thanks mate, and well done for second place overall in the slower (Only a bit but still slower) car.

It was a pretty low SOF race that I won since I think it was the lower split. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=6570167&custid=101189

Not Complaining though. :D

I've been running the MX @ Charlotte all week.
Usually find a good lot, but lots of idiots also.
Not matter what, if the field is bigger than 6, someone has to pull a dumbass move in the 1st lap. I've been starting from the pits, but even that's not safe.
Might give the Solice a go later today.
The MX is fun once you learn how to driv it.
I still can do better than low 24's.

Just raced against Will Power in the Caddy at Mosport, he was really quick as is to be expected. I was only really close to him in the first few corners, but I had a terrible race so I can't really say I actually had a battle with him. I finished down in 8th after an off made me need to pit. He was kind enough to chat with us for a few moments after the race, which was pretty cool. This was the first time I have ever raced against a real pro in iRacing, so it was really cool.

^ That can't be the same Will Power from Indy Car? I've raced him several times and just thought it was a coincidence.. He's from Indiana.

It could be, Will resides in Indiana but is from Austrailia. And he said he talked after race so only they know.

Yeah It can be hard sometimes whit other drivers. for some reason i always am 2nd. My last race i hit the wall in first corner on my own had to pit and got again speeding in pitlane. I got fron 13 back to 7 but i usually end up in 2nd. There is always one alian i can't follow.

I have seen you indeed alot this week. Try not to battle whit the solstice if they are faster, they don't give you points, so let them go. to let someone go whitout to much timelose, go a bit wide on the first banked corner.

You should do 23's to release you from noobs. My best lap if i am not wrong is like 22:4. its done whit the baseline setup. I am not so into tuning.

- 1st corner brake a bit after the finish line "gently", don't lock-up. better to soon then to late in braking. when turning in release the brake and don't use the throttle. you are in 3th gear when you think you can make the turn hit the throttle.
- next corner flat out.
- The next 2 corner you can do on diffrent ways but you can gain or loose alot there. so take them well, release the throttle a moment when steering in the first corner try to do it early so you can hit the inside. take the corner in 3th gear. The second corner alians do that corner in 3th i think, they go far outside-inside-outside. but i have difficulty's to go on the outside when entering that corner so now i take it very scharp. I brake early and go far on the inside. i shift 2nd to turn in better and shift fast back to third. make sure your exit is fast.
- at the kink just lift the car a brief moment
- next corner brake and shift to 2nd. try to take the corner on the inside and stay inside at the exit.
-next corner you do in third. I don't brake there i release the throttle and hit it again ASAP. try to have a fast exit to cary good speeds on the oval.
- next corner flat out stay on the inside, when it changes into the oval stay at the inside.
- straight flat out ;)
- the next banked corner try to shift to 5th on the exit and not in the middle of the corner. if you do you loose 3km/u top speed. This is not the case in race when drafting of cours.

You should do 23's

Thanks Maxitsu,
I'm getting there.
Can do pretty constitant 24's when doing TT's.
Broke in the 23's in Testing.
I'm losing the most time coming into T1 off the banking,
and then through T7.
If I run through 7 in 3rd, the car will push.
So I've been in 2nd just before hitting the limiter.
Really suprised I have not blow an engine the way I wring it out :)

Jumped into the MX-5 Roadster last night on Charlotte, didn't qualify and was just running it for fun, I ended up winning my class, and overall, so pretty happy about that :p

Woop, finally managed to win a race at Charlotte in the street stocks after being wiped out 4 times in a row in previous races. I mean its just absolute choas, one person makes a slight mistake it wipes out half the field!

You aren't kidding... but playing dodge the wreck can be fun too. I got my first street stock win at Charlotte in only my second race.

Also got a pole to flag win in the Nvidia Cup MX-5 at Lime Rock earlier in the evening.
After being off for about a year it was nice to jump back in for some races, but my safety rating took a beating getting up to speed in practice

Was in the cleanest race I have seen last night. Even stranger it was in the fourth split of the street stocks (Charlotte)!

Unexpected, but great racing from everyone. Maybe Sunday evening 2200 is the best time to race? There were very few incidents in all but the bottom split.

Hell Yeah! I got my first road win in probably over a month, first win of any kind in quite some time. Started 3rd and took advantage of some early wrecks, was able to stay out in front for 23 consecutive laps in the mx5. I didnt even warm up for this one, i just wanted to join to have fun. I was sloppy but still somehow won, ive run much better races and barely got top 5.

I jumped in my first time at Dega and in fixed trucks! Starting 10 I knew it might be tough battle because I wasn't sure how lines would move. Middle groove seemed to stall after few laps, so I moved to bottom to gain a few spots and got ahead of the middle guys. I took the risk of jumping in that line, and it paid off. Guy behind me closed up and got little run but I'd side draft inside guys in the corner which gave me a run coming out of corner. We battled like that for laps and finally got the lead but got passed. I ended up pushing another guy for laser few laps and coming through the front stretch he moved up which allowed room to go under. I took the chance and ended up losing by -0.003 which was like inches! It was fun but pushing requires trust and steady wheel.

During last days i tried to get "safe driver - oval" trophy. You need to finish 5 clean races in a row.
I was trying with Street Stock - and got 4 clean races straight with good points iR.
Today i wanted to get the trophy with 5th clean race. I was very happy to be 6th on last lap, but on the last corner on filnal lap lapped cars spun just in front of me and forgot of the golden "lock your brakes" rule. I had no where to go and received x4 car contact incident.

So to make my mood little better i went for iRacing News Challenge (Summit Point) which goes for me quite well (26th place overall). I was on 3rd class place with nice gap, but lapped car forgot to brake in the first corner and just rammed me.
Result was towning to pits and race lost. Got -90 iR which is big loss for me - i was working for this much for several races.

In the Solstice? Sounds to me like we're close in points.

Race 1: Solstice on Summit Point

I start 6th overall, on pole in my class. I get a good start, and pass one MX-5. Running a solid 5th when on the second lap I spin around after catching a bit of grass and get passed by the 2nd place Solstice. I drive my A$$ off and catch him with three laps to go and make the pass for the win.

Race 2: Solstice on Summit Point

I start 7th or 8th overall, 3rd in class. I again get a good start and pass and MX-5 and another Solstice. Now 2nd in class I'm working on the leader when on lap 8 he makes a little mistake, but it was enough for me to take an advantage, pass him and take the win once again, 3rd overall.

You did very well, I like when two cars battle fairly for position. This is something a lot of racers do not know how to do, the service needs more racers like you, congratulations on a fast time and safe race.

I just did my best race ever i think. Speed and consistency wise. i started 4th on the grid. I worked my way up to 1st 2 laps before the end. It were very clean battles whit other cars but in the last corners of the last lap my rival takes me out when he lost his car.

I dropped back to 4th. It really s*cks becaus the race was perfect. For some reason the gods don't want me to win. I am almost always 2nd and 3th in every race but a win may not happen.

I raced a bit to much these days.

I did 22 races on summit point raceway : 7x 2nd, 6x 3th, and 18 times in the top 5. and no win.

I made one incident whit was my fault and received 6x contact by others there mistake.

And the strange part is when i look to incidents. the guy who makes the mistake always has less time loss. The victim always loses more. Also on incidents whit other drivers.

Got my first win on an oval last night and it put me over the 3.00 I need to get out of rookie. Qualified 3rd and within the first few laps 4th place took out the entire field behind us. Then I just had to wait for 1st and 2nd to take each other out. I had a few chances to pass them but 2nd kept complaining about 1st blocking so I just kept my distance because I knew he would try and make a move sooner or later.

I still can't manage to make that extra lap after the race. I had been just running the laps after the race is over at full speed. Every time I hit someone sitting in the middle of the track, so last night I started slowing down so I could pull off the track and someone hit me.
How are you suppose to handle the post race laps? Nothing I have tried so far has worked. What I'm asking is what are you suppose do when the race is over so that you can park your car?

I joined iRacing about 2.5 years ago and in the first few months I won 4 times. And then... Nothing... For over two years and over 100 races I didn't win a thing. Then at the weekend I finally got a win! Yeah! It was in the SRF where my iRating means I normally get in towards the bottom of the top split. However, I dropped out of a race due to my internet connection failing mid race. This dropped my iRating enough that in my next race I got in towards the top of the bottom split. With me running in third on the second lap the leader span and second place span in avoidance leaving me in first place after a quick trip over the grass to stay out of trouble. I was overtaken by another driver who soon span off leaving me then with over half the race running in the lead. My lap times went all over the place but I was so pleased to cross the line to win. I look forward to my next win in a couple of years time. :-)

Wow, congrats! The drought is over, now its time for more wins. Same thing happened to me too, when i first signed up i got like 6 wins right off the bat. I think because you're always racing in the lower splits and once you get better you start racing the aliens. I think ive only won 3 races over the past 3 months or so since then.

Joined a Mustang race and decided to withdraw last minute. 30 minutes later, i check my stats and it says i finished last (-18 laps). I didn't race as mentioned, although i clicked "forfeit" right after the countdown hit zero. I lost almost 100 iRating points in the process. How is this reasonable?

I think up until 2min before the room opens you have the chance to leave without penalty. After then it considers you to have joined a race even though the room hasn't even opened.

If it says Withdraw you wont lose points, but if it say forfeit you lose points. I think it changes from withdraw to forfeit 1:32 before the race.

How it's reasonable I don't know, but I'm guessing it's because if the race would just go official and you disconnect in the last minute, the other guys can have a official race.

Let's say the race need 10 people to go official and with your signup there are just 10 people there. If you drop in last second there would only be 9 and if you wouldn't hurt from it, 9 others would so I think it's fair enough. But it's a good thing to know about I guess 💡

Typical Talladega. Guy pushing couldn't keep up with the fast move the pushee made to the outside of the leading tandem, spun sideways and took out the field........ I love Dega & Daytona, however, only those qualified and experienced should do it. This is another key example where iRacing's license/rank system is totally flawed.

I think thats about right. In the beginnning i made the same mistake to forfeit.

But i like that rule. I am sure alot of drivers would disconnect before the race actually starts. When I play other games when the game starts there are always disconnections. Even if you join a good competition, there are always people who has to forfait. Iracing's forfeit does really hold the grid together. And if there are disconnections, the guys who does race are not disadvantaged.
