I think thats about right. In the beginnning i made the same mistake to forfeit.

But i like that rule. I am sure alot of drivers would disconnect before the race actually starts. When I play other games when the game starts there are always disconnections. Even if you join a good competition, there are always people who has to forfait. Iracing's forfeit does really hold the grid together. And if there are disconnections, the guys who does race are not disadvantaged.

Biggest problem in GT5, rage quitters. They have an off or two and realize they can't win and they are gone. I've seen it in iracing as well, just nowhere near as much.

I thought I'd jump into fixed impala B race after getting little help and it paid off.

First thing, I missed the start and thought great here goes my race. I just ran hard and caught last few cars in few laps, and got all the way to about 17th before a caution came out. Most of front guys pitted but 4 including me because we had 7 laps on the tires. Restarted and lost a spot but gained it back, then lap later another caution came out. We all pitted this time, and I came out 3rd. We had a good number of laps before anything happened, and I stayed out on old tires with 10 to go. 1st left us in the dust, and I slowly was catching him til I was right behind him. He tagged the wall out of 2, which allowed me to pass clean in 3 and I pulled away from there to take the win. It has been awhile but It was awesome.

VINCE__
Congratulations on the victory! Love that B class at Charlotte.

Thanks, it is fun. I had another race with top split guys and it showed I'm still not up to par there yet.

Last race i got DC'd. It were my first laps on Sebring. I never saw the track in real life or a game, so i don't really now how it flows. Being dark don't really help. I haven't practised to much so next race will be a learning process like on VIR. However i am looking forward to race it his time. For a flat airfield track it has a nice layout, it has some great corners.

The only problem i have now is to find a official race. Thats the thing i hate about Iracing. When i am ready to race it happens quite often its going to be a unofficial race. 👎 while others have the advantage to drive whit big fields whit high irating and thus gaining more points then i ever could get, even if i could win. Its a bit unfair.

Anyways i hope for a good race tommorow.

Yeah finding official races in Grand Am for me seem impossible on a time that is suitable for me. I find my self racing 03:00 at the night and even if I'm awake I'm no where near as focused and fast as I usually are at 21:00 or even 23:00.

But I guess it's the peoples fault, iRacing have made the races there very much to fit our timezone, but people aren't racing at those hours. And since I have focus on Grand Am as I seriously find the GT cars sluggish and boring to drive and the HPD just too forgiving and kid friendly to drive I'm kinda stuck where I am.

So it's down to one race pr week as I'm not going to sacrifice more nights than needed so iRacing haven't given me what I payed for it this season, and I just hope adding some none american race series cars to it will wake up the european people to race when I want to race! ;)

It's a shame really as I love the feel iRacing gives me, but if I have to race 03:00 to be able to race it's just useless and waste of money in the end. And obviously I could race something else, but why do I have to race something else.. I pay to race what I want just like everyone else 👎

Jumped into my very first GT Challenge race tonight in the Ford GT at Mosport. I didn't qualify and was just planning on gaining experience and finishing. I started out back, got a good start and passed a few cars. I'm taking it easy, not trying anything risky. I come over the crest of turn 2, and back off a bit as I see the GT field getting backed up by some Vettes, next thing I know, some Vettes make contact, the GT field gets scrambled and I end up hitting my right front quarter panel off a Vette.. I was doing maybe 30 mph. I had 3 Fords on my right, and a Vette on my left.. I had no where to go and left frustrated.. Everyone in the GT class was involved except the pole sitter..

Yeah driving on 3:00 is insane, i understand you will be a bit less focussed at those races. i won't take part races that late. I have to work a bfew hours later so a bit of leep is needed :)
Also some tracks are popular then others. Like Infineon, Sebring, VIR are hard to have 10 drivers. While Daytona, Laguna, Road America there were plenty off people. Next season i will try the Gt/hpd series or Star mazda. I think i can love most cars. Only the Caddy i don't like (so far). Cockpit view is terrible on one screen. I even still love the Mazda MX5 roadster.
I can't really adapt very well on the Riley. Sometimes it feels you are superman, at other times i lose grip for a reason i don't know. i don't really understand the car. Its like it has unlimited downforce at high speeds but unstable at slower corners, i don't really know.

Well, my last race went fairly well NVIDIA @ Lime Rock.
As typical, the pack behind me took everyone out in turn 1.
I had to slow to avoid a crash on lap 3, and the leader got away from me, so I cruised to a fairly easy 2nd.
The race before that however, not so much.
I has late getting my pit setup done on the grid, and lost track of the countdown. Ended up jumping the start. I jammed the brake as not to hit the car in front of me. At that very moment, the power supply for my wheel took a
crap, and I lost control of my car. Thus causing a major pile up :ouch:
At least once I found the problem, I got on the mic and told everyone what happens, and that I was sorry.
Which leads me to another subject: incident etiquette.
Don't want to stereotype, but it seems every one involving drivers for Eastern Europe, they just bash into and go with no apology.
Anyone have the same problem?

Had my final race for the season in the Skip Barber last night, came away with a win and 136pts to give me my first ever 1000+pt season. My goal was always to try and get a 1000pt season which wasn't that easy seeing as I don't search for SOF races. Pretty happy now :)
Now on to the Star Mazda............

Well for me when I first started it took a couple of months to even know how to use text chat, so I put it down to some people just plain not knowing, but I guess that really only applies to Rookie and D class, after that there should be no excuses.

My latest race, is my first full race! :D Tried to race before but my pc couldn't handle it :( Freezing time by time, tried everything but just had a bad setup. Eventually my gpu blew up so I had to buy a new system, so did it good. My first race tonight, wow! So awesome! :D The best thing, I won  Started at the back and took the first place on the tenth lap, completing the next 15 laps in a steady pace creating a 8 second gap. I'm new to this so I don't know the times, but I've beaten 2 c-class guys so I felt good

Here are the results..

Just had an excellent race in the Mustang Challenge on Daytona Road. I started 2nd and was running in 3rd most of the race, battling for 2nd place. Going into turn 1 on the final lap I stick my nose on the inside and try to get by, but rather than plow his door in, back out of it and wait for my next chance to pass. That comes 2 turns later at turn 4 on the infield. I was always faster than him through here, but didn't try anything to risky. I faked to the left, he goes wide, so I slam the brake, turn right hard and hope for the best, I manage to just squeeze by cleanly and ended up 2nd. Great race.

Just got my first win in the Skippy. Started from pole (qualified with a 1:22.6) and steadily gained on 2nd until I was 10 seconds up by lap 13 or so. About that time second got passed, and the new 2nd place was much quicker. He was gaining a few tenths each lap. I had relaxed a bit and I couldn't get my time back. I had a near spin on the last corner on lap 16. I had to do the two foot save. Kept it together and finished about 4 seconds ahead.

My heart was pounding the entire race. I think it must have been doing 150 BPM for the first couple laps. I find it really hard to keep it together when leading. This was the first race in a long time where I was leading for a number of laps and didn't spin. Hopefully that will help me to calm down a little in the future

Just had my first ever race, at Okayama. Started from the pits and came 3rd, just tried to be clean and just had one 1x. Pretty stoked :)

Did my first race in the Star Mazda tonight. Started 3rd last , let everyone by before turn 1 so I could keep it incident free and get some race time in the car.

A few crashes in the field moved me up to mid pack , then with 10 laps to go , realised I was going to have to conserve fuel or splash and go. Only 9 laps of fuel in the tank ! I decided to short shift and back off the throttle where possible to see where that put me with 5 to go. The guy behind me was closing in , only a few seconds behind with about 6 to go but he must have had some problems and dropped off.

I still had to get this thing home though ! A splash and go would most likely cost me a position or 2. More coasting , lap times dropped dramatically as I did all I could to keep circulating and still make it home. She started to splutter and cough with 3 turns to go. I had just made it ..... and finished 3rd. :)

What was meant to be just a test race worked out pretty good

Nice work Carlos, Mac K and FastM3 👍
A good day on iRacing for GTP

Thanks! Seems it was! :D

That was tight! From what class do you have to look at fuel? I'm just starting out in the nvidia cup, don't think I have to look at fuel and tyres now?

Edit:
Did 2 races today. First race I started as third and in the second lap I overtook the leader, but spun out because I stepped on the gas too early. Collided with the railing and had little damage. Was in the pits for a whole lap, was -1 on the rest :( The rest of the laps were pretty nice and made up my lost lap on all of them , becoming fifth out of nine.

Second race I started as 9th, kept 9th for 2 laps because I went to sharp on a corner twice, had to slow down. After that just went for it and the leader was in sight in the 15th lap. Paced a lap behind him and then aftertook him. :D

Fuel planning isn't so much related to class , but usually race duration and capacity of the car. In the case of the Star Mazda / 24 laps at Watkins , the car has the capacity to run with no fuel stops.

During testing , I saw that the 6 gallons I started with showed I would make race distance. It wasn't until I actually did a full race that I learned not to trust the estimate shown in the fuel box display !

I am running high downforce , maybe that is throwing off the calculator ? Either way , I now run 8 gallons just to be safe :)

* Some races in the V8 supercar this season required either a fuel stop or conservation to make race distance.

Welcome to iRacing and congratulations! That sounds like a great start!

Thank you! Did another 3 races at Oky in a row last night, just trying to get my SR over 4. Everyone has been clean as well, and I'm at 3.81 :)

I personally just take the car into practice, put the lowest fuel amount in and drive some race-pace laps until the fuel runs out.
Then you know how many laps X amount of fuel will get you and you can work out how much you need for the race distance.

Then to be doubly sure, just run the race distance in practice. If anything its good to practice driving the race distance anyway to improve your consistencey and get used to how car handles with race fuel.

The nvida cup features fixed setups, so you can't change the fuel if I remember correctly?
But any non-fixed setup series allows you to alter fuel in the "Garage" menu.

Most fixed series fuel won't be an issue, but open series they run atleast enough laps for pit stop so you have to adjust or take full fuel load. Granted some tracks you will pit even with fixed setups because of tire wear but not always.

Good idea. Going to do that when I'm going to next class. Still not sure what league I'm going to do though, have to buy alot of new circuits.

I tried today but I could only change it when the race was already started. So for pit stops no problem, tyres the same story..

Seems I have to find out then :D

I was one lap away from a 'perfect' Nvidia Cup race at Okyama.
I Started on pole and the driver in position 2 false started and subsequently missed the green lights so there was no drama in turn 1. By lap 3 myself and 2 other drivers were a couple of seconds ahead of the pack and we ran pretty close until lap 5 when 1 of the drivers went off exiting the second hair pin.

For the next 17 laps I led the other driver by ~ 1.5 seconds. Sector 1 was always a tie, sector 2 he would catch up, sector 3 was always up for grabs, but he was weak in the final turn and couldn't manage a pass on the straight because he kept taking the final turn too fast.
Lapped traffic was not a problem and we both got through 4-5 drivers with relative ease. The 2nd place driver eventually had an off on lap 22 that I didn't see, but he was 5 seconds back at the S/F line so I was finally able to settle down a bit. Having a car that close for that long was really wearing on me. I've been the chaser many times, but leading makes me more nervous.

On lap 23 I was being held up by a back marker who obviously had some duct tape over his tv's left corner. Completely ignoring blue flags and it was obvious I was a lot faster but I wasn't pushing him because I had a good lead and he was driving like a jerk. He went wide in the final turn then on the front straight he pulled to the right but didnt slow down until closer to the first corner so I moved to the left and started to pass him. Naturally he swung back to the left as we were exactly side by side and struck me causing damage and sending me off. I struggled through the last 2 laps and still won but I was only 2 laps away from a zero incident pole to flag win :( MY SR went up by .07 - Lame!!!!!

The race was a blast though :D so in the end it's all good 👍

Sounds very nice! :D Congrats on your win! Sucks you got damaged :( Didn't do your SR any good!

I was almost having the same race, being held up while riding in front of the pack, in the second to last lap! They were getting closer and closer and finally the guy also in the final corner went out, but came back on track, the navigator said Right! But he was going into that direction... Went left and it was all good luckily!

I think I just had my best race although not winning it, and dirtying it. First time going against B licences but managed second place! Really a big difference riding these guys, you just see they have more experience. I started as tenth, and the defending was so much better and counter attacking me like crazy! That was so scary! Finally got my nurves back together and got to second place! :D

Nice 👍 and Thanks.

My best race to date (not results wise) actually involved a lap 1 disaster in a MX5/Solstice/Jetta race at the Okyama full course.
After a tow and repairs I left the pits way behind the leaders but right in the middle of 4 other drivers (2 were also just exiting the pits). I couldn't tell what lap anyone was on so I just treated the pack as my race opponents as we were all very close lap to lap. All 5 of us ran the entire race within 8 seconds of eachother and traded places a lot. Possibly the best example of clean, competitive racing I've ever been a part of :D - minus the first lap of course.

First lap nincompoops happen.

Otherwise, I won an nvidia cup race yesterday. First place and I had an epic battle. He was a few seconds ahead, but, I pressured him into mistakes; he blew his motor halfway through the lap. I didn't even know, until my spotter told me.

You can blow your motor? Cool!
