*jealous* Fine, you're two wins ahead. I joined a bit after you, though.

Good luck!

Haha this race was a doss really, nothing much to defend for the last part of the race... It all depends on the difficuly of the guy fighting you in second or whether there is one of those super tyre savers that gain at about 0.5 seconds per lap at the end of the race.

I'm sure you'll catch up, especially as my concentration is going to be on the Grand Am Premier Series next year. :)

Also just noticed I'm in second position in my regional standings... :)

I would have four wins, but, in the last lap of a race, some Czech girl spun me. Really stupid rookie dive-bomb... Who divebombs in a flat-out corner? HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK?

P.S., British people play iRacing? No way! I thought you were the only one! There's someone else? Two Britons? Unbelievable!

Aha funny, no there is an 'England' region on iRacing but I'm not in that, I'm in the 'Celtic' Region and from what I have seen so far I think it is the region with the least members... I think. There are still about 1,000 though so it's not that bad.

And the dive bomb move in a flat out corner is just a risky move to pull off, not to mention you have to have a really good run from the previous corner. I know for sure I wouldn't try it unless everything felt right... but it's a rookie so they'll still be working moves out (probably). We just have to remember we were all a rookie once :).

I got the most awesome race i ever had at okoyama short course in the Iracing news challenge.

For the first time there was a split. There was a battle whit 10 cars for the first 10 laps. of course there were some incidents which i could avoid. After that shifted one gear to much down in a corner. I lost 2 places and got stuck behind them. From that moment it was a battle between 4 cars. Unfortunately a stupid driver was way faster on the straight becaus i got held up by the car infront of me. He just drives into my rear instead going around me (on a straight!) it gave me some light damage from that point i had to defend for 10 laps. I finished 3th, while there were 4 drivers that i know from last season, they are faster. But the guy who i assume to be the slowest won the race on the MX5 class. He was more suprised then i was.

 Britain still plays GT5 religiously. :p

Otherwise, the flat-out dive bomb was just about drafting... in an MX-5. :yuck: She had like 2 km/h more... But didn't wait to capitalize on it.

Races are getting better (not all, but most).

I had one race (without any incident!) where I finished 4th and gained .55 SR :)
Two races later I made my first podium finish (3rd). If you manage to stay out of the trouble, you will automatically have good results.

Now I am well above the 3.0 for promotion. Maybe I can make the 4.0 in the next weeks and join the C-class street stock series 👍

PS: If I end this season with D >4.0, to which licence class will I get promoted? C or even B?

If you advance your SR level you get a bonus of 0.40 points.

So if you have 2.97 SR and gain 0.10 points you will have a SR of 3.47.
That explains the SR boost. This also works the other way around. if yo drop a level you loose 0.40SR.

That makes sense: I had 2.86 before. +.15 is 3.01 and the additional +.40 is 3.41 then.

And, if you complete your MPR, and get 4.00 SR, you're immediately Class C. I got rookie 4.00, and then hurried for Class D 3.00, for promotion. You only need 3.00, and MPR.

Anyways, are videos okay on this thread? I've got a bunch of :banghead: videos, of idiot Solstice drivers... "Wah, Jetta drivers have a low IQ, because they don't think that the Solstice driver is going to hit the brakes on a straightaway." and various others, from the whole week.

^ Well you are the faster class, so its your responsibility to make a safe and clean pass.. if you keep getting involved in incidents maybe you're doing something wrong. Trust me, been there done that. :p Or maybe it isn't you I don't know, but from what you're describing it seems a little iffy.

Had a great race in only my second ever Grand Am Race. Came a nice fourth position after having a great battle with third but I just couldn't find a way past even after being less than 0.4 seconds behind for 25 laps. I also set the second fastest lap of the whole race losing out to only the stupidly quick Kiddhy Engström.

Here is the result sheet. (Notice that Kiddhy lapped everyone at least once )

New week, new track and old problems... Week 1 developed very well after the first days. Races became cleaner and cleaner and I managed to boost my SR a lot.

But today at South Boston my 2 races were horrible (and of course full of incidents).

Over the day I lost ~ 0.10 SR. I hope for better races tomorrow. The track is quite nice, a bit tighter than Lanier but looks and feels more like a "real" oval.

Now I stop crying ;-)

Well my first Cadillac race at Laguna was quite interesting in several ways.
After finally settling into the car and running a quai lap of 1:27.1 I decided to give the race a shot. In the pre-race practice session I was about 2 seconds slower than 3 drivers and 1 second slower than 2 others which presented a minor problem in that no one besides the pole sitter ran the qualifier and I was 2nd on the grid :nervous:
I maintained a slower outside line through turn 1/2 and that put me in 5th after turn 3 which felt much more comfortable as the trailing cars were slower out of the gate.
Then it got ...weird.
On lap 1 a driver in 9th place lost control entering the corkscew and slowed up during the turn resulting in contact causing him to spin. The spun driver then parked his car in the turn following the corkscrew right on the driving line and stayed there for ~3 minutes. Following a bizarre 180° manouvre that went straight at 2 other drivers (and backwards on the track) to get back in the right direction he then parked sideways, right in the corkscrew - on the race line - and stayed there for ~4 minutes until a back marker literally pushed him off track to remove the obstacle. All drivers were actually able to avoid the car, but it basically required everyone to almost stop in order to get by. It was really unbelievable 👎
At the 9 or 10 minute mark he finally left and the race completed without further incident.
Needless to say, I've filed my first protest ;)

What a shame too, other than that the race was a great time. I stayed in 5th for almost the entire race but I was losing 2 seconds a lap to the leaders. The driver in 4th was at least 1-1.5 seconds faster than me on every lap, but he had a problem keeping the car on the track and I wound up passing him 3 times - only to be overtaken each time placing me back in 5th. Eventually he damaged his car enough that I passed him again and a few laps later the corkscrew was spinning him every time and he retired leaving me to finish 4th overall.
My only real disappointment came on the second last lap when a backmarker kept completely ignoring blue flags (it seemed to be a theme in this race - a driver that was 9 laps down even blocked me for an entire lap after he exited the pits right in front of me and eventually hit me) and I wound up going off in turn 1 and was lapped by the leader :ouch:

Looking forward to my next Caddy race 👍

Mustang Challenge at Road America

Started 2nd and shot to the lead on the first lap. Lead a lap, and on lap 2 I nick the wall trying to take the Kink a little bit to fast, I get some suspension damage and fall back to 3rd. The damage is enough to cost me about a second per lap, so I try and hang on the best I can. The suspension feels like its getting worse by the lap, so by lap 8 it finally bites me and I spin out of turn 1 and hit a wall.. I salvage a 7th place finish after all that, but stuff like this really annoys me, especially when it was all my fault. I guess I'll get them next time :p

Yes very annoying when you're your own worst enemy. Probably should have pitted early in the race, but its so hard to tell if the car is fine or not until you do a few laps. Oh well, get em next time. Ill be back in the Mustang series in week 4, thats the next track i actually own.

Jumped into a Grand-Am race in the Mustang. Started on pole (in my class obviously) and lead for a few laps. I dropped back to 3rd for a bit and eventually caught the leaders, the 3 of us had a great battle going for most of the race. One guy eventually started to pull away, leaving me and the other to battle it out, I got around him when he went a little to hot into the 2nd last turn and got sideways. I managed a 2nd in class. No incidents with DP's except for when one clipped me in the essess, I saved it and had next to no damage, lucky me :p

I just raced with Oriol Servia! (Hopefully the 'real' one!) In the Cadillac Cup. Too bad my race was ruined by a nut case after I passed Oriol....

Wouldn't surprise me, I've seen Will Power in the Caddys too.

someone tried to sneak up on my inside BEFORE turn 1.

People are just too aggressive in this game. People need to just race at a slower pace and let things pan out for first few laps then push for it when people are just spread a little more apart. with 1 hour races you will get the position you deserve!

I'll cop it on the chin, pick myself back up for next race.

Was it in a cadillac race? I may have been in the same one...

I'm still having trouble getting past lapped traffic that swerve from side-to-side. I'm always in the top 3, regardless of series, it seems, (except in cars with 350+ hp) so I'm always lapping idiots. Even in half hour races.

Edit: before polarbear posts about our latest and awesome race.

I had a long and drawn out battle, from lap 1 'til lap 12, and polarbear345 had a normal A-class noob slam into him, and caught up to win. I only got third. :yuck: Still, two-wide in the corkscrew, and three-wide in turn 5 @ Laguna Seca are all quite awesome, in themselves.

Won my first race in the Grand Touring Cup! 2nd ever race in the series, definitely liking it!

Too bad my wheel's clamp broke mid race.... It is NOT easy to finish a race when half of your wheel isn't connected to the desk....

Yeah!

Just had a nice and clean race at South Boston (Late Model) and earned enough SR to get C licence oval :) :)

Didn't expect this after only 2 weeks.

I had a fun last race. I had a nice battle for a virtual 5th place. but i lost it in lap 23. I did take the outside kerbs (exit second last corner) at watkins glen like i always do. I wasn't pushing at all and still don't know why the car got unstable. While i tried to revover i got 2 wheels on the grass and i thoughed the wall and span backwards. Some poor guy could not avoid me. i have this from time to time whit a DP.

Had my first race in the Cadillac in a long time, started third and had a great battle with the pole sitter, than Dan comes along and gets nice lead going, I manage to get by the pole sitter and start working on Dan, he makes a mistake and falls back. Now the pole sitter gets back by me, and makes a mistake 3 laps later. I get by and lead until the finish, with Dan breathing down my neck for the final 4 laps, really satisfied to take this one.

Is a win counted as a win, if it's not in the top-split?

Everything displayed correctly now 👍

however...

normally I intended to write about my last race, which is now the race before my last race :dunce:

First time ever I was in the top split (Late Model @ Charlotte). I like driving on a big oval much more, than on short tracks.

7th on the grid and I was able to keep in touch with the leaders. When some of them struggled, I was able to take 3rd place. The leader made a mistake and now I was 2nd, fighting the leader. A "race incident" put me into the lead. I guess it was 50/50 our fault. On the back straight I went for the inside line. I saw the leader coming closer and cloeser. At some point (I use single screen only) I wasn't able to see him anymore but thought, that he was still moving towards me. I had a very tight corner entry. My opponent gave me room for exactly one car width, which wasn't enough in this situation. So we had contact (a bit like Fittipaldi and Unser jr. @ Indy 1989) and he hit the wall, but was able to continue the race by losing 1 or 2 positions.

After 3 leading laps the new 2nd hit me mid in the exit of turn 1. Clearly his fault, I had a big crash as a result. After my "gratis" repair I re-entered the track in 9th position, in the slipstream of the 8th. I took 8th and had the now 9th and 3rd directly behind me. After some laps I had massive oversteer in turn 2 without any contact. I tried everything to get control back. I was almost in straight line again (losing 8th place) when my car made another move. My countersteer lead me directly into the left rear edge of 3rd. 👎 who was just passing me outside...

Another "big one" was the result and my car was unrepairable. I apologyzed to the 3rd and he had no hard feelings.

I "finished" (parking my wreck in the pits) 13th and lost a lot of SR. What a disappointment. I could have won this race!

But then... :dopey:

I entered my "last race" (again Late Model @ Charlotte) but this time in 2nd split.

5th on the grid I had a clean race, a epic battle and my first victory*! 👍 Me and the 2nd lapped every other car on the track! Just awesome :)

*) statistic still says "0" wins :guilty:

IRacing should change the blue flag rules.

I had a nice and clean three-way battle for 1st position when a lapped car started to defend his position 4 laps before the end i lost my lead and 2nd place. I could charge back to second but again the lapped car starts to defend again. On charlottes raceway passing on the outside is impossible on the oval part.
So i couldn't overtake safely.

I started to lose my temper. I always am a clean driver but for the first time i did go aggressive on purpose. I did drive on the tarmac on the inside of the oval(off track) and i just pushed him away out his lane at the next banked corner. I know its dirty and you can judge me for that but i am proud i did that.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

Was your move dirty? Well, maybe...

Was it understandable? Of course!

I think I would have done the same.

I'm not much of an oval guy, but I ran a Street Stock race at Charlotte earlier this week. On the 2nd or 3rd lap, I get spun at the non-turn heading to the start/finish line. The guy lets me know his displeasure... "Thanks for turning into me!" or some such. I'll admit I might not have been running the "recommended" line there since this was my first race ever at Charlotte, but I left him plenty of room. He actually didn't hit me until after the apex (if you call it that). Anyway, I spun into the infield, but avoided damage. I pull back onto the track at the back of the pack.

I run clean laps, manage to avoid a couple of mishaps, and end up back in the top five. Things are going good when I see someone pulling out of the pits up ahead of me. I move to the top of the track to give him plenty of room, but he just keeps coming. I let off the throttle and try to squeeze through, but end up tapping him and the wall slightly. In the mean time, 2 drivers that aren't a lap down have passed me for position. :/

With about 5 laps to go I'm starting to catch the draft of the car in front of me and I'm reeling him in. It just happens to be the guy I made contact with earlier. I hold back just slightly as we cross the line for the white flag, and I get a good run on him down the back straight. I'm expecting him to stay low to block so I enter the turn a little high, but as he turns in, his car gets a little loose and he starts to slide up the track. I dive to the inside with white knuckles... and just as I'm pulling even with him, I get slammed and we both go spinning into the infield.

Of course, I thought he was mad at me from earlier and did it on purpose, but after watching the replay, I think he just got out of shape and over-corrected. It didn't look intentional. I think I lost about 3 more spots before I was able to limp it across the line, but it was a fun race regardless. :)
