5 years is how long GT5 itself took, and they managed to release GT6 during that period.

@Jordan

Full translation, Kaz Part :

JVL : Could you tell us where is the statut of the course maker and why this feature need much time to development ?
Kazunori : It's still in progress, but it takes us more work than expected

JVL : The arrival of competitors like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa will evolve your plans for GT7?
Kazunori : We (PoDi) follow a path in which we believe and we will continue to follow it.

JVL : Could you tell us about GT7 and if it will be present at E3 ?
Kazunori : Today, it's a Peugeot event, we can't talk about the next Gran Turismo.

JVL : Possible to add more customization options for GT6 ?
Kazunori : For now, the only planned update concerning the course maker

JVL : About engine sounds in the next Gran Turismo, they will be changed, and how ?
Kazunori : We've been working on the next gen sound for 5 years, so they [the sounds] will change. I can't tell you what will change at the moment, but I they will change.

JVL : Will there new cars and new tracks in Gran Turismo 6 ?
Kazunori : There will be new cars, yes, but not new tracks

JVL : Can we expect to see Peugeot 208 Pikes Peak in Gran Turismo série ?
Kazunori : Yes, this car will be present

JVL : With your Vision Gran Turismo project, we can see how manufacturers can be creative when there is no limit. Are you satisfied with the results until now ? Will you continue this project for future installments ?
Kazunori : Collaboration based on meetings. This leads to something new, something creative. Once the machine is started, you can't stop it, so you'll see more creations around VGT project.

JVL : When FIA Championship will be launched in GT6, and what type of vehicle we have ?
Kazunori : I can't tell you about it at the moment (laughts)

JVL : You became the main sponsor of PPIHC (Pikes Peak International Hill Climb) to be held in late June. Will you participate in this event, hat is your feeling ?
Kazunori : Unfortunately, I'm too busy this year, with the development of the new Gran Turismo to be able to go to this race.

JVL : Can we hope to have Pikes Peak track in Gran Turismo 6 via an update?
Kazunori : No.

JVL : In Gran Turismo 7 ?
Kazunori : I don't know

JVL : You have many sports cars, which would you add to your collection?
Kazunori : It would be the Corvette C7, it really is a very nice car

JVL : Do you have a word to address to JVL community, which is a big fan of Gran Turismo ?
Kazunori : I know you are all waiting impatiently for the next Gran Turismo, know that we are working very hard to meet your expectations, so you have every reason to be impatient.

So just the course make to go (which I'm not that interested in but I know a lot of you are), a pikes peak car but no pikes peak, a couple of real cars (possibly) & the rest of the VGT's.....

So what happened to the "we have big things planned for GT6 statement" from PD at the beginning of all this ?

Just curious by the way, not trying to cause an eruption of any sort :)

Peugeot 208 T16 in Course Maker update pls Kaz

Am I the only one here that find that Kaz' answer regarding the Course Maker is clear enough? By my implementation, I think that PD expected they can get things to work quickly, but I guess they need a large-scale testing that takes long time to do, or there is a huge bug in the CM system.

Just my theory 💡

I'm glad there is only one more scheduled update for GT6 if it means GT7 will be coming sooner.
How did you come up with that conclusion? The only thing I got from that interview was that the only planned update containing a bit of customization will be the one with the course maker for now.

I think he said in a previous interview last year that it went beta if i remember correctly? so maybe they'll mention something about it and GT7 at E3 during sony's conference.

I read it all like this:

Doesn't care what others are doing so another sim-cade grind fest inbound, overshoot with CM and PS3 can't cope, GT7 trailer at E3 confirmed, nothing else for GT6, no new cars for GT6 apart Nissans for GTA next year, no new tracks, Pikes Peak in GT7, FIA Champ on GT6 this year

Some are rather wild guesses but let's see what happens.

"Big things..." yeah, i remember very well...

I would say it is always nice to be able to ask questions to Kazunori Yamauchi, no matter the answer. Yet, given the format and the event, this short interview with him was just a "bonus".

On that note, it is really interesting to see how car maker and designer think and work with companies like Polyphony Digital.

Say what you may about the Vision GT project, it IS a good thing for the constructors and a nice, welcome touch for us gamers. That's always cool. (I won't comment on the lack of interior on some/most though :D)

I did arrive late, but I am surprised to see the Course Maker garnering more interest than an event creator. It is, to me, the kind of question worth bringing up all the time to PD. All the time.
+1 for event creator.

1200 + event creator + fast AI = epic win.

So Kaz sponsored Pikes Peak to not go there whilst being unsure if he is going to have the track reappear in GT despite there already being hillclimb cars and he wants to add more.

k.
Sometimes things just don't go as planned, in all honesty seeing as they put many ( and by many i refer to the tajima and monster vehicles being base models, giving hint to a more extensive use of the concepts) pikes peak car i'd said that they were going to make something out of it, at least as part of the FIA thingy.

If they did introduce Pikes Peak again in the future I'd much rather they did on the PS4, I cannot see the PS3 coping all that well especially with all the trees and foliage, as well as the general scale of the thing

Yeah I'm surprised to hear they've been working on it (at least the sounds?) since 2010.

That's a while even for PD, maybe we will see the next GT before 2017.

They laid the groundwork for this PS4 sound update in GT5P, and several of the VGT cars etc. in GT6 use an incomplete version of the new engine sound method itself. I personally believe that the length of time this has taken is indicative of its future potential, and likely impact on the industry (although to most players it'll just be a welcome improvement, at last).

He may not be able to say what will change, but the clues are already in GT6 for all to hear: sound generated according to the engine configuration, dynamic controls according to player input and engine condition, expressive reproduction of sound field from any angle including car interior, improved reverb and a theoretically limitless variation with tuning. There are hints of other things, but they're not so concrete.

Just another example of Kaz talking out of his ass imo. Never again will I believe anything that man says. To me, he is just like a politician, full of nothing but hot air. With the recent news about the other racing games, unless he comes up with something big for GT7, I can see this as being GT's swan song. The only ones left will be GT's most die hard fans, the ones that will stick by them no matter how bad the game is. I really believe GT's time has come and gone as far as being the racing game of choice. Their reign at the top is done imo. Kaz is just to stubborn to change and wants to continue to follow the same path he's been following and in todays age, that's just not going to work anymore. In my opinion, Kaz is PD's biggest downfall right now. His "vision" isn't working anymore and its time he realizes that otherwise he is just going to be left in the dust.

I don't know why but I have the feeling that it will not take too long for course maker....
Depends what do you mean when you say "will not take too long" :P For example, if the new Course Maker is planned for this summer, then ok, I believe we can wait that much. But if it's planned for Christmas period, then ... just no.

It's not like we're going anywhere
but then again, i'm expecting some A+ piece of work, not some sloppy thing you'll never use ( thanks again for the Bspec, appreciated.)
