Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Vette Set

Players will get to take part in a one-off race that celebrates Chevrolet’s endurance-racing history in the latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges beginning Friday morning.

Weekly Challenges consist of five events for players to race through in a seven-day period, with a fresh set landing as your local clock ticks past midnight into Friday. Four of these come from the existing races within World Circuits, across a spread of pace and prize money, with a fifth “Special Event” created just for that week’s racing. The more you complete, the more — and higher — bonus rewards you get.

We’re starting with the first of two races at Deep Forest this week, and an unusual case of both being at the same track configuration rather than just the location. It’s a two-lap race in the European Sunday Cup 500, requiring a road car from any European brand, and offering 10,000cr for taking victory. The “500” notation applies only to a recommended Performance Point (PP) value, and isn’t a limitation.

However there’s three races with a hard 700PP cap this week, beginning with the World Rally Challenge at Fishermans Ranch. It’s another two-lapper, requiring any car at or below 700.00PP when equipped with Dirt Tires, and there’s 65,000cr available for winning at this twisty off-road location.

The Race of Turbo Sportscars is up next, for a five-lap race at Dragon Trail Seaside. Again there’s a 700PP limit and you’re required to use a car that is turbocharged, but there’s no other restrictions. Winning scores you 85,000cr.

Our third 700PP race — and you could conceivably use the same car for all three — is in the World Touring Car 700. This is also the second of the Deep Forest events, but this time it’s ten laps long and you’re going to want to watch out for some pretty stiff tire wear and fuel consumption multipliers if you want the 110,000cr reward for placing first.

Finally we have the Special Event, which heads over to the 24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit (appropriate, for this weekend’s action) for a three-lap race in Corvettes. You can pick any roadgoing Corvette model of any generation — excluding the Gr.3/4 cars, Gr.3 Road Car, and Sting Ray concept — and you might like to get busy in the livery editor as the AI sports some classic Corvette racing liveries for this one. Tuning isn’t necessarily required, but some models will struggle on the long straights without it as you chase the 110,000cr first-place prize.

We’ve got a return of the specific prize-type tickets in this week’s bonus rewards. Completing any one event earns you a Six-Star (Parts) ticket, while finishing any three gets you a redeemable 150,000cr ticket. Checking off the set is worth a Six-Star (Car) ticket, which can award you with any car from Brand Central worth 500,000cr or more (including Invitation cars).

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 20.
