Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Ioniq Bond

The dawn of Friday around the world sees a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges arriving, when your local clock reaches midnight, with five new events to race for bonus rewards across the week.

Weekly Challenges comprise five events, with four taken from races already listed in the World Circuits menu and a fifth “Special Event” that’s created just for the week. Finishing these races — by placing third or better in each — during the seven-days that they’re available in the special green box will earn you bonus rewards, with better ones the more you finish.

There’s usually a spectrum of events in terms of length, difficulty, and rewards, and our bottom rung this week is the European Sunday Cup 400 event and Grand Valley South Reverse. Don’t worry about the “400” notation — which represents a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a fair race — as you’ll just need a Road Car from a European brand to take part. That does include the Ferrari and Skoda Vision GTs, if you want to rapidly tick off the three laps for the 35,000cr reward…

You’ll need a pickup truck and some snowshoes for the next event, which is the Pickup Truck Race at Lake Louise’s Tri-Oval course — only backwards. The Ford F150 Raptor and Toyota Tundra Pro are the only eligible cars (no Unimog? Booooo) and they’ll need Snow Tires for this five-lap race worth 50,000cr for the win.

This week’s Special Event is the next up the ladder, comprising an eight-lap race at the Suzuka Circuit East Short Course for the recently added Hyundai Ioniq 5N. You have no limits on tuning here, so feel free to go nuts, but be aware that there’s only 80,000cr on offer for winning.

Road Atlanta hosts the World Touring Car 600 for the next event. This is an open series, allowing any vehicle of any kind so long as it doesn’t exceed 600PP. Make your choice and bash out the five laps for the 94,000cr first-place prize.

Finally we have the very high value Gr.1 Prototype Series event at Suzuka — which is indeed hosting two races this week, but this time at the full course. Despite the name, you can use anything on race tires within a 950PP limit, and there’s 175,000cr on offer for winning the ten-lap race. Do be aware of high tire wear and fuel consumption, as well as the possibility of some damp conditions, and you may have to unlock the event to see it in the list.

There’s another mix of bonuses this week, with 100,000cr and 200,000cr ticket rewards for completing any one and any three events respectively. Don’t forget that you’ll need to redeem these from your Gifts section of your Garage to claim their face values. A standard Six-Star ticket is the final reward for finishing all five events, with 500,000cr, 1,000,000cr, or a Brand Central car worth at least that lower value within.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday March 21.
