Imola Arrives in RaceRoom Next Week

Sector3 Studios has confirmed the iconic Imola race track will land in RaceRoom Racing Experience next week.

Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari — to give it its full name — is a 3.05-mile circuit in Italy. For many, it will forever be linked to Ayrton Senna: it was there, at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, that the Brazilian lost his life.

After Senna’s death (as well as Roland Ratzenberger’s the day before), Imola saw many revisions. The flat-out Tamburello corner received a chicane, with Villeneuve slowed down as well. A little over a decade later, Imola received further changes, most notably with the elimination of the Variante Bassa chicane.

The track hasn’t hosted the top tier of motorsports in a decade. Nonetheless, it has regained a Class 1 rating from the FIA, and continues to host various other automotive events.

The addition of Imola is a major coup for the developer. It joins not only a handful of recent Swedish additions (Knutstorp, Falkenbergs Motorbana), but established classics like Monza and Silverstone.

The new content hasn’t only been tracks, either. Earlier this summer, Sector3 announced the inclusion of Porsche, with three cars coming before the end of the year. The team also added its own wild take on open-wheelers, too.
