PAL Sales Charts Week 7 2018: Forza Motorsport 7 Returns to The Top 40, GT Sport Falls Off

The latest sales charts for weekly UK retail indicate a good week for Forza Motorsport 7. After dropping out of the top 40 completely, the Xbox and PC exclusive sim made a sizeable return to form.

The overall winner last week goes to FIFA 18 with the sports title returning to the top spot. Sales were spurred on by the Nintendo Switch version of the game getting a reduction from the larger outlets. Prices have mostly returned to normal now but it made enough of an impact to push the game past its competitors. New releases for the week include Kingdom Come: Deliverance (2nd place) and Bayonetta 2 (5th place).

Even with a drop of four places, Forza Horizon 3 is once again the best performer in the racing genre. The bundle title of choice comes in at 19th and continues to resonate in the region. Without sounding like a broken record, it’s still impressive to see Horizon 3 positioned as a must-own on Xbox.

The bigger story this week though comes from the other Forza franchise. Making a return to the chart, Forza Motorsport 7 makes a re-entrance at number 21 just behind mainstay Horizon 3. Pricing has remained consistent since its last appearance on the list, with the title able to be purchased for just over £20. That’s a very attractive price for one of the most content-stuffed racing games this generation. For some reason, consumers in the UK felt the need to play some Forza last week.

The final entrant on this week’s sales chart is Need For Speed Payback. Despite us commenting last week that we wouldn’t be surprised to see it drop back out of the top 40, it actually moved up ten places. Sitting in 28th, the small surge in sales gives the game a bit more legs. Perhaps the recent addition of online freeroam influenced buyers.

That’s all for racing games in the top 40 this week. A startling omission is GT Sport which continued its slide that has been going on for the past few weeks. Polyphony’s racer came close to pushing into the top 10 under a month ago but it is now experiencing a rare dry spell. Perhaps it will see a return again next week.
