Today’s a big day for tech brands. Apple kicked things off in San Francisco an hour ago, but for gamers, all eyes are across the country. Right in Times Square, Sony is set to present the future of the PlayStation brand at — appropriately enough — the PlayStation Theater. Well that was fast. After rumours started circulating earlier this week about an event in New York City, Sony has gone and confirmed a PlayStation Meeting next month.

Over the past month there have been whispers of a more powerful and better equipped upgrade to the PlayStation 4, commonly referred to as the PlayStation 4.5 or PlayStation 4K. Keeping up the momentum of the first two reports, yet another story has emerged, and the refreshed console may offer a little more promise than originally assumed.

Hold on to your butts. Hot on the tail of an earlier report on the rumoured “PlayStation 4.5” (or the more succinct “PS4K”), another story has emerged, potentially shedding light on new details of the machine that could break the traditional console cycle.
