The 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours: Coverage & Discussion

Just as it was with this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Gran Turismo fans have another driver to cheer for in the Nurburgring’s 24-hour race: Kazunori Yamauchi. Here’s all the links you need to follow along:

Facts & Guides

  • Car: Modified Nissan GT-R
  • Car Number, Class: #71 / SP8T
  • Drivers: Tobias Schulze, Michael Schulze, Yasuyoshi Yamamoto, Kazunori Yamauchi
  • Team Name: Schulze Motorsport

Race Coverage & Live Streams

Alongside the “real race”, PlayStation Germany is hosting a virtual, trackside 24-hour event in Gran Turismo 5. Participants were selected in a GT5 Photomode competition, and GTPlanet user Wallbreaker was chosen as one of the winners. Keep an eye on his Twitter feed for live updates throughout.

One more thing – take note that Gran Turismo is a major sponsor of the Nurburgring 24 Hours, and has been for several years now. As such, you’ll see the familiar logo on each and every one of the cars competing in the event – including the Porsches. This does not suggest any of these cars will be appearing in any GT game in the future.

Good luck, Kazunori and Team Schulze!

its ok butters i’ve no intention in letting this get out of hand.it’s allready gotten old for me!!

  2. guyc1161

oh sorry did i ruffle your feathers somewhat?i don’t recall naming any names or calling anybody an idiot.maybe your the one who should lighten up lol.i can tell the difference between sarcasm and factual statements.

    1. Butters

Chill y’all. We know what you mean. Definitely, not everybody is joking when they say for him to get back to work. Some people are just jerks and want to say something negative.

  3. guyc1161

i can’t get over how some people think that gt 5 (polyphony digital) is all about Kazunori.Kaz is the CEO of the company and sure he plays a big role in the decision making and planning of everything pertinent to gt5 but if he’s off racing or golfing or whatever the company is not at a standstill.rest assured that members of his team continue to work on whatever projects they have in development. .

    1. David BumbleBeest

      @Doc
It’s really hard to laugh when you think your favourite website is frequented by morons.

  4. WannaRace1

But seriously, Kaz, get back to improving GT5. Still a lot of time left this Sunday afternoon. We’re waiting.

  5. Huga

@David do have any knowledge about 24 nurb race?

“Kaz won 1st is his Class” “IN HIS CLASS” the race is divided by classes.

Don’t post something that you don’t know about.

  6. guyc1161

schulz,schulz,yamamoto,kazunori,37th overall, congratulations on a job well done.kudos to the whole team..
total domination by german auto manufacturers porsche 1st ,bmw 2nd audi 3rd.

  7. WannaRace1

Good job, Kaz. Now that you got that out of your system, get back to making GT5 better!! More tracks, more cars, saves for endurance races, etc.

  8. terminator363

The online coverage with the live tracking, Audi’s stream, the official stream and Radio Le mans this is a lot better to watch and understand than last years 24H

  9. Raven_WET01

After watching the live stream for 5 minutes: nobody can make fun of Micro$oft for shameless self-promotion ever again lol

  10. Apophis_2029

    Now Kaz is on place 25 after over 12 hours of racing. O_o It goes up – 33 – 28 – 25 … what next? :-D

  11. jakeBG19

    I’m fairly sure he’s in 33rd right now..?But i’m not right sure as I can only speak english/french :(

  12. Gulyo

Who cares mr kaz toy … this is just a passion …
Whoud have been made better game instead !!!
    DLC’s PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. timwap

Hey everybody would like DLC so bad but often your posts aren’t that constructive. My advice is go buy other racing games instead of stress the hell out of you, take a look at Codemasters stuff, that for sure will be a better waiting.

    2. He's just trollin

DLC is his new thing after his “sold my ps3” thing went bottoms up epic fail……….

  13. Scorpius

Its only allowed to drive 2,5h maximum (pit times included), then you have to wait 2h minimum to go back on the car, so solo sessions are impossible.

And who is forced to drive the 24h races in one session by himself? You could invite friends, or just pause the game, or you are a tough guy (or girl) and just keep driving, it works, you can complete these races at your own, I’ve tried it at the 24h du Mans. If anyone just uses the time, they spend in complaining about the not saveable endurance races in driving, they can race many of them every week.

    1. timwap

Complain for complaining about the lack of endurance saves, wow that some serious trolling congrats.

  14. opladener

Since we don’t have a save function in GT5, he should be forced to drive the race all by himself, too. ;-)

  15. Apophis_2029

Good luck for him. ;-) With this rain it’s extremly difficult i think. I hope on 29.06. it’s dry, because on that day i will drive my first 8 real rounds on the real Nordschleife … after over a few hundret rounds in GT4 and GT5. And after 1 year in german traffic with my first car. Hope i’m still alive next weekend. :-D

  17. AnPrionsaBeag

I find it disturbing how some commenters here and in other threads seem to worship Kaz as if he were some kind of godly figure. Anyway, bona escasença a totes!

    1. jason paul

what disturbs you exactly?some poeple need hero’s.anyways its your right to be disturbed and your being disturbed doesnt disturb me.

    2. Huga

No one is worshipping, your over exaggerating,

People are just cheering him up and saying: “good luck Kaz”.. if that is worshipping for your then you need to get your head straight.

    3. AnPrionsaBeag

      @ Huga
“Over exaggerating”, am I? If you can’t even understand the meaning of the words you write, maybe you’re not in a position to give any kind of maturity advice.

      @ jason paul
I wish your own heroes were William and Robert Chambers. A little reading disturbance from time to time is good for your mind. Learn to think and perhaps you’ll understand what I wrote ;-)

    4. badboy_etc

“judge not, or you will be judged first”

put your smarts to good use, instead of scolding others for wanting to believe in something.

    5. DriverD00d

I think what he means is that, there are tons of other good racers in this race, but this website just focuses on Kaz and so does everyone else just because hes famous, I dont think thats right because if he gets last then everyone would still tell him “good job” but if it was some other racer everyone would say “booooo”…

  18. selfmutilation

    Tv.audi
type it on Google. Closest I got to finding a result. Hope it works when race starts

    thanks for the useless fluff.

    1. Jordan

You’re welcome. Since you’re apparently not able to figure this out on your own, I’ll explain: every Nurburgring 24h race results in dozens of emails, forum posts, and comments from people who believe those windshield banners suggest a certain manufacturer will be coming to the GT series. That “useless fluff” exists to stifle unfounded rumors and any misguided expectations of GTPlanet’s readers.

Thanks for letting me know it has also served yet another purpose: wasting the time of rude trolls like yourself.

  20. Jack Dawson

This guy a nuts! He can’t even drive. Maybe he can drive by the book. But not naturally. A one hella of nerdy who just lucky to get a drive that is unfair for unfound talents in this unfair world of motor racing.

    1. Huga

“He can’t even drive”? did you sit beside him on a race or something? i bet you don’t even know how a clutch looks…

There are vids on youtube and anyone who has some racing knowledge knows that Kazunori Yamauchi is a good racing driver.

      so take a hike kid.

    2. David

you think just because of the stereotype saying asians can’t drive and now you think they can’t race? Dude i don’t know where these steroetype started but none of it true there are alot of people and alot of people are better then the rest and do you wanna know something? He is better then your punk ass kid.

    3. Butters

The sense of speed is spot-on in GT5. People think it’s wrong, but no. When you’re looking through only the windshield, it’s much slower.

  21. jason paul

ive seen some good website’s,love me motorsport, had the net since it became available but that 24 hour nurburgring website is (i am struggling to think of a word bad enough)a gibbon could of done better.somebody said “well done on the website, works great, easy to find things”i pity the next company that wants his talent!!!!….haha..practice session times…yeh rite.i cant be bothered searching, fuggg it

  22. Scorpius

Team Schulze is in the first grid, they are on P46 overall and P3 in their class (they drive against 3 VW Golf GT24 and 2 Audi RS4), so the quali result is quite good I think.
