Watch: Ferrari Velas Esports Championship European Regional Qualifier #1

The first Regional Qualifier in the 2022 Ferrari Velas Esports Championship will be live at 1900 UTC today. Four races will determine the first 12 drivers for the European Final in September, as the top qualifiers from the four hotlap events go head to head.

Players have had nearly two months to try their hand at the four hotlap events, two each in Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. The top 24 times in each advanced to the first Regional Qualifier, with one set of drivers in Europe and another in North America (USA, Canada, and Mexico).

With drivers only permitted to enter one race in each of the two Regional Qualifier events in their region, that means we’ll see 96 names competing for 12 places in the European Final today, with another 96 going for 12 spots in the North American Final tomorrow.

Over the course of this evening’s events, hosted again by regular presenters Paul Jeffrey and Nicki Shields, we’ll see four races, with the top three players in each taking a finals spot.

The schedule for the races is as follows:

  • Race 1 – AC Competizione – Nurburgring – Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo
  • Race 2 – AC – Laguna Seca – Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo
  • Race 3 – AC Competizione – Zandvoort – Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo
  • Race 4 – AC – Monza – Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo

Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver Carlos Sainz will be a special guest during the broadcast, and registered viewers will be entered into a prize draw for Ferrari clothing goodies too.

Following these Regional Qualifiers, there’ll be another set of four hotlap events running from June 20 to August 14, and the top 24 in each region from each race will be invited to attend a second set of Regional Qualifiers in late August.

From there, the qualified drivers will head to two Regional Finals in September, with three advancing from each to an in-person event in Italy to be broadcast in October.

Only one driver can win though, and whoever claims the title will join the Ferrari Velas Esports Team for 2023 — as 2020 winner Giovanni de Salvo and 2021 champion Kamil Pawlowski also did.

You can tune into the Regional Qualifier from 1900 UTC on June 13.
