66 Stunning Gran Turismo 5 Screenshots (18 Megapixels)

You’ve probably seen most of these before – I had them posted here for a few hours yesterday until Sony asked me to take them down due to a press embargo on the material. No matter – now I’m able to share the full, original images with you in all their glory at 18 megapixels. Enjoy!

Can’t wait to have a spin in the 8C. Had the privilege once to be driven in one (sadly couldn’t drive myself) when doing photographs for a car website…

  2. Heymoa

These are fantastic and Nov 3rd cant come quick enough. Anyone else notice the Zonda in the 2nd pic from behind has its front wheels off the ground?…. its quick but not that quick :P lol

  3. Alex

i hope that the cars that are in prologue are additional premium cars and not int he 200 – 250 count..

i mean. Ive had those cars for like 6 years now.

  4. SEIDO463

In the pic of the Volvo driving across the bridge did anyone notice the driver?
    The casual appearance is cool..

    1. Viktor Navorsky

It would be cool if we could personalize our own “driver”. The wish time is over for me, i just want the game the way it is… no more wishing, i mean… just for the game.

  5. magburner

I’m loving the detail on the black Lambo (fourth one down in the middle row). It looks like the car has actual working wing mirrors! :)

  6. ismellbacon611

they showed all the new cars in the demo except the 2011 subaru impreza wrx sti :( ….. that makes me a sad panda.

  7. yanfloist

It doesn’t get any better than this.
I told you guys, the best is saved for last.
Gran Turismo 5 is going to blow all the other racing games away. I bet the forza boys will even stop playing forza 3.

    1. GlobeKIDD

Dude i used to be a forza fan. I still ove to play the game, but it’s useless useless unless your with friends because no one knows how to drive right online. I’m expecting better things from the GT crowd. I’m always satisfied online with Prologue.

  8. GT Pro

GT porn. I haven’t been this impressed by GT in a while… though, I am still unsure about how far the modifying goes (anyone want to elucidate here?)

    1. J-KiLLA24

when i went to the gt site it said you will be able to customize suspension kits, tires, chassis, body(bumpers, sideskirts etc,im guessing)exhaust system, and engine parts.

    2. Bernd

One question: did you ever play GT ??
I think, we’ll get all the possibilities, we had in GT4, like: Exhaust, racing brakes, chip-tuning, NOS, port polish, racing clutch, carbon driveshaft, racing flywheel, dampers and springs, weight reduction, transmission, turbos, etc. etc. Many goodies are available in three versions and price-categories. Furthermore you can adjust ride-height, damper/spring, aerodynamics, ABS, TCS, etc.
Apart from that a zillion-billion different wheels + about 15 or so different wings were available in GT4.
So, our expectations for GT5 are very high

  9. RE515TANT

The reflections inside the headlights and on the back side of the side mirrors of the Xanavi GT-R (pic 7) is just absurd.

It’s hard to believe these aren’t screens from a professionally, hand-rendered video (ie: that these are completely programatical is terribly awesome)

  10. NBH

Will we be able to make photos like this ourselves in the game ie mid race shots, several cars together etc or are these made specially by PD?

    1. Big Ron

You will be able to do exactly the same. First option is to shoot photos out of a race, second option is to go on photo tour and shoot photos from special places.

    2. NBH

Thanks Big Ron. If we can take photos of all the cars and see every detail like the wheel and headlight photos that’s just crazy stuff!

    3. RE515TANT

It may take a few seconds to render this high-resolution of a photo with that much detail, but PD has always been good about showing us things directly from the game, not pre-rendered stuff.

Personally, I can not wait to create photos like this myself. **droool**

  11. JDM

Finally, I came. GT5 has been like making love with my wife the last three-four years. Now that I saw this, I need to clean-my-screen (u now wt im sayin).

  12. yeti

    Awesome…

Love the comparison shots between new and old versions!!

And the old Jag & Ferrari’s are just amazing… love the V12 engine in the Jag…

    C.

  13. deathcabdan

It looks like we will be able to drive around the photo travel locations…check out the 300SL in motion, and the Volvo going over the bridge

  14. RetroGiant

Anyone got these in a .zip or know if another website has the full size images. I’m trying to gather them up for my screensaver images and every file name is different so I can’t batch download. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

    1. Bernd

I know for sure, the Mazda 787B, AUDI R10 and the PEUGEOT 908 HdI/FAP are in. And Mazda’s FURAI concept-car. But we can expect Toyota’s GT1, the Sauber C9, Bentley and Pescarolo, which we already had in GT4 – only guessing

    2. competizione

the benley speed 8 bmw v12 lmr mercedes clk gtr audi r8 oreca and pescarolo from 2005 i think i cant remember the name of it are show in the standard cars video

  15. Name (required)

Now i REALLY jizzed in my pants. True guys. And I didn’t believe GT5 could do that to my pants, but I was wrong. WOW.

  16. Andre

I’ve just spent some time looking at the image with the Alfa’s 159 front and I was amazed :-| The quality of every detail is incredible and the reflection on the bumper is perfect…
Virtual images can’t look much better than this, or can they?

    Great work PD!

  17. lado

Boa this pictures are incredible good! The cars are really well made it´s nearly perfect look at the karts all wires are visible. I can´t wait to play it tomorrow on gamescom :P juhhuu

  18. GT'ireland

the screenshots are fantastic.nice one jordan, and this is for tokyo drift.,have you nothing ever positive to say? Maybe your one of the people who go on to different forums just to anger people..catch a grip of yourself and stop moaning.im sure your not a total A-HOLE.

  19. Andre

This pics are awesome! Really, calling this a racing simulation game is like saying that a Ferrari is just a car… This is a master piece of art that brings us every detail of the very best work from the car industry and, even better, let us drive them!

Can’t wait to get my copy on the 5th November…

    1. Big Ron

But simulation hasnothing to do with the graphics :D
A game can look as good as Aphrodite, but in handling be a arcade racer.

Racing simulation has just to do with handling, physics, racing. And we will see, how it finally ends.

    2. Andre

@Big Ron – I agree that simulation has everything to do with handling and physics, but I can’t agree with “has nothing to do with graphics”.
A real driving simulation has to “simulate” real life conditions. And that’s not just the behaviour of the car, but also the environment.

Have you tried a professional simulator? Usually it’s about F1 and they are shown in public events with a partial cockpit, a wheel and 3 pedals…
My opinion: they don’t work!!! You do get all the physics and the car is really hard to drive, like in real life. But the graphics and sound are terrible and that ruins the feeling of reality, taking off all the joy in the experience.

Hey, but that’s just my opinion ;-)

      Cheers!

    3. Big Ron

You are right, too. But in my opinion, graphics are meant to create atmosphere. The better the atmosphere, the better the feeling.
They both, physics and graphics, play together. Of course, with comic graphics, the best simulation will never feel real.

  20. Forza!

Check the pic with the white M3 and look at the VW Golf in the background…looks quite damaged, doesn’t it?

  21. TokyoDrift

Enjoy those artificially enhanced images from the photo mode – graphics in gamely are nowhere near as detailed.

    1. organdonor

We have already seen gameplay footage from the demos and the cars look amazing to say the least so I’m sure alot of us aren’t too worried about it. Even GT5Prologue’s car models look great. Go jump off a bridge.

    2. TokyoDrift

Sure, we got a bridge in the village, about 3 feet off the ground. Where is the challenge in that? Idiot.

    3. Big Ron

Haha, epic fail. The only thing we cannot have in gameplay is antialiasing.

But all in all, GT looks already the same while driving plus aliasing (don´t know how strong it is).

    4. Big Ron

      hey TokioDrift

why bashing against other user or the game? If you donßt like GT5, than search for another forum. We don´t need guys like you.

    5. danielwhite74

The game looks exactly like this, minus the anti-aliasing. You probably know that already, but you just felt the need to be a pathetic troll.

    6. Yaywalter

Oh, you’re probably just butthurt about the standard cars not having cockpit.

Unless you’re asinine enough to think that we don’t know that these are Photo Mode pictures, and that of course they look better than the game runs in real time.

Slap some sense into yourself, man.

    7. danielwhite74

No, this is exactly what the game looks like minus the antialiasing. As if Polyphony need to release bullshots of this game. XD

  22. Wiretap

They were probably told by Toyota to make their Prius a premium model! :(

This is going to be one of the cars to save the world! Well according to Toyota anyways! haha

On a whole though, those screenshots are f’in awesome!!

  23. BDawg

    Ferrari F1 = hells yes
    Prius = failz

Hope they havent wasted another premium slot with that like they have with the Ovlov C30

but apart from that, epic, the Jag engine bay is possibly the finest thing Ive seen in a long time

    1. the stig

thats the problem mate =) ha ha
its gonna be painful to see ‘capuchinos’ in premium and ‘supras’ in standard. ;)

    2. Big Ron

I can understand you. Of course it is very very nice to see street cars in Premium quality. But it´s better to have sports cars or exotic street and race cars as Premium than a Toyota Prius or Cappucino, which are never needed nor wanted for racing

    3. the stig

@HenGTX , its not about exotic vs normal battle.
I like ‘normal’ cars as well as super cars.golf, integra… etc for example,I really like and enjoy those kind of cars and its great to see these cars in premium.
BUT cappuccino, some daihatsus…etc in premium instead of supra, gnx and other great machines is not good.
yet again maybe these cars will be premium too,I dont know.but the fact is that the premium list is filling with NON great machines.

    4. P37Mac

Supra is premium. First few pics. Prius was probaly made premium as a ‘condition’ to get the Toyota and Lexus concepts in the game. Still can’t get over the detail and visual quality in this game!

    5. jdejes

Probably there’s an event you have to win with a Prius in order to unlock a cool Toyota Supra. Maybe that’s the reason there’s a Prius in the game.

  24. FCdrifter

A Prius? Really? Of all the cars they could have put in the game and didn’t, they made sure the Prius was included….

    1. ismellbacon611

my ps3 just got the yellow light of death…fixed it 3 times already by hand… but now im afraid its time to get a new one :( … hopefully the harddrives are interchangable :)

    2. Maxiboy

Yeah just whack in a laptop hard drive, then find a game disc with a system update on it. When you turn it on after putting in the blank hard drive, it instantly looks for code to read, and if there is a system update on it, it will grab it and install. Once thats done just transfer all your saved data and download the latest system software.

    3. jdejes

Mine’s at the service center getting the yellow light of dead repaired. Hope to get it back in one more week. But just thinking my PS3 could die on me by the end of october gives me BIG nightmares. If I have to buy a new PS3 I’ll do it just to play GT5 on release date!! Can’t wait!

  25. QUESTION...QUESTION.

You know how they say that the Standard models, are from previous editions, and they just haven’t been focused on as much? As in no interior modeling…

We all know it’s a shame, but what about the way these STANDARD models drive. Will the FWD, understeer, and RWD slide, like they’re meant to (Like prologue eve).. Or will they be like GT4, and just be the same boring Cars, just on new tracks?

    1. organdonor

Standard cars will be running on the same exact physics engine as the premium cars. They will also get scratched, dented, accumulate dirt and have mechanical damage.

    2. Jeffreypang911

So the reason these all have interiors is that they are new cars added to the GT series, and not from previous games?

    3. organdonor

      @Jeff
If you are refering to the pictures above, no. Some of the Premium cars are from past GT games, and they made from scratch with a much higher polygon count and fully detailed interiors. Alot of the Premium cars are new to the series though, but there are still premiums that have been taken from previous GT games and totally reconstructed.

    4. Big Ron

Every car in the game uses the same physics engine. So no worry, every car…standard and premium…drives as you would expect.

    5. QUESTION...QUESTION.

      Ohhh good good =D

I was playing Gran Tusimo 4 on my PS3 the other day, took the E55 AMG on the Nurburg =D, But after playing Prologue I was expecting a power slide… =(

  26. Zenith013

Love the detail of the Jag’s engine compartment. Some seriously good photos of the Miura, generation comparisons and the 60’s racers.

    1. Bernd

Yeah, couldn’t believe ALL of the Miura-shos are from the game, they just looked too real, unbelievable (especially the rim)

    1. FlareKR

If I see one more Fiat 500, I’m gonna throw up. And if I hear that it is for sure premium and some other cars don’t get interior views, I’m gonna vomit in every single 500 I see.

  27. ismellbacon611

i really hate being the one to complain but compared to all of those images… the Maserati looks like it was rushed :/ … i mean it looks fantastic!!!! but the other models seem to be put together nicer and with more quality… just my opinion

  28. G-Ram

Correct me if I’m wrong… we haven’t heard anything about the 8C being in GT5 previously have we? There are pictures of it though so that’s confirmation enough for me. I can’t wait!

  29. dalejrfanfreak

I’ve been playing racing games since the days of the original Nintendo and this has to be the most awestruck I have been when looking at pictures of a racing game. The detail present is incredible.

    1. Bernd

Only a single tear ? That Jaguar with it’s beautifully detailed engine actally gave me goose-bumps and filled my eyes with tears. Thanks, Jordan and all who bring up these news. Want to hear the Jag now ! :-D
