GT5 Demo Collection is Real, Includes Garage Video

First things first: two independent sources have privately confirmed to me that the GT5 Demo Collection is real, and the original whistle-blower lherre has backed up his announcement with more screenshots. This collection is also providing a closer look at things we only got to peek at during the shows where these demos were originally featured.

For example, the above video is from the CES 2010 demo, which included a somewhat mesmerizing look at the available cars in a warehouse/garage. In lherre’s new screenshots below, you can get a closer look at damage on the SLS AMG’s bodywork.

I so want GT5 even if I have to get a PS3. does anyone know if GT5 will be offered for PS2?

  2. FlareKR

Another “look-what-PD-is-not-gonna-give-us” video :D. The game is really looking awsome…now if it could only be released (I can wait till the Holiday season, I’m already filled with playing MAG, UC2, MC:LA, FFXIII, Warhawk, Bad Co. 2. seriously no more games for me for a while)

well, if you would know that the 3D firmware will be updated around July for the PS3 and GT5 wil launch with 3D capability you wouldn’t say PS4 launch title…

    Sigh… Wanking…

  4. whitman

Noone noticed, that the doors are a bit cracked open? Both, left and right. But the scratches were missing here, put both together and it would be adequate in my eyes. Much more important is the physical damage, to stop those dumbasses in online mode, kicking you from the road…

  5. aelange

i’m just going to drive nurburgring over, and over, and over again….
and for those who don’t like the music, the music is awesome, you have no taste. gt5 is a much classier production, i would be appalled by anything else.

    @ FishforRent
Totally agree with you about the TT demo. I can only assume plan A was to use that event to move copies of GT5 but since it wasn’t ready they had to go with plan B.

What is interesting was the lack of polish on the TT demo. The new physics were awesome but they didn’t have time to clean it up. I don’t buy for a minute they dumb’d it down in the graphics department on purpose. It was as good as they could deliver it at that time.

That sort of tells us they have a ways to go to get everything looking as nice as the R246 track. I think we might see a release late Q4 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out in 2011.

  7. LolWut

That garage is nice and all but Project Gotham FTW, Whats missing is that depending the number of cars u get, the more “garage areas” you unlock to shamelessly rip PGR off. Anyways thats more like a game space, cuz, the FT86 wasnt even around when it was selected… so no ” walk up to the car, give it a look around, open the door, get in and drive” at least from what it looks like. That said, it looks absolutely gorgeous( the cars, the actual hangar, meh). I dont know if he selected the car to race @ tokyo or to showcase the car driving @ tokyo.

And sadly, I dont know what to make out of this…will us getting that demo would really mean another delay…to “polish” an already polished looking game? Only MORE time will tell

  8. wsoul

Jesus… I love how the cars look. Tokyo looks pretty bad ass in the video too. I hope they release a demo similar to this on the PSN.

By the way… Is there something wrong with images on the site? Every image now claims that you need to be on this site to see it even when you are on this site…

  9. snaketus

I really hope that is going to be our excat carage, and you can actually drive your cars in it the way you want them to be.

Unless PD have a sudden change of heart we aren’t going to see this game in Autumn anyway.

Obviously something is either wrong with the game or Yamauchi doesn’t like the colour of the grass, or the reflections on buildings on R246 and it’s all gone back to the drawing board again. Since the botched March release for Japan, we’ve heard absolutely nothing from PD or Sony other than guff about GT academy.

There’s no release plan in effect, and if they are still messing around “honing”, I can’t see them getting the game into a state where it would be ready to go to print three months prior to Sept/Oct. That leaves them until June to get it 100% finished. With the rate at which PD work, in that time they’ll achieve almost nothing.

    Edited to make sense.

We are not getting this demo! At least I hope not, because that would mean the release of the real game would delay until 2011. PD and Sony have a track record of this. We got the TT because the release date got slipped to late 2010, not March. If we get another ‘demo’……..we won’t see GT5 in autumn.

  13. Hentis

Wow the Tokyo track has never looked so good.
however whether we will see this as a general release demo, I would like to say Hell yeah but seriously doubt it. They can prove me wrong of course. But to think of it the guy thats managed to get his hands on one possibly shouldnt have it in the first place, but there you go.

I know retailers aren’t a very concrete source of information but I just got an email from amazon stating they got ‘new’ release date info from the publisher, NOV 1st.

please note, I also got a previous email from them stating that Heavy Rain would be released in Feb 2011 :)

  15. Daddymac

Not sure how much to trust it, but I just got a notice from Amazon (I pre-ordered the game last year) that says…

    Hello from Amazon.com.

We have received new release date information related to your pre-ordered video game in the order you placed on September 21 2009. The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:

    “Gran Turismo 5”
    Release date: November 01 2010
    Estimated arrival date: November 05 2010 – November 09 2010

  16. Big Ron

Yeah, that garage is just a background location in the menu. and I think you will see different locations where cars are standing. but it looks sooooo coool

  17. Phosphor112

I don’t think that garage view will actually represent your garage in game. Unless you can select what cars you want in there allowing only a limited amount.

  18. Turbo_3800

Something says “Arcade version” to me to what we’re seeing here. R246 looks impressive over the GT4 version regardless of how many times we’ve seen it over the course of almost a year. I can promise you if a GT5 demo was to come out at midnight with only 2 tracks ,everone that’s complaining about seeing R246 too much would play it till they’re able to drift the entire track lmao!! Yes that garage is really really a dope look for the game and yet we are teased even more. It doesn’t bother me that we’re not getting alot of updates cause I would still want the element of suprise when I play the game and not see everything we’re gonna get. For instance how PD completely redone the High Speed Ring, is PD gonna bring back some of the original tracks and completely redo them too like “Seattle” “Autumn Ring” “Deep Forest” “midfield raceway” “Rome Night(somehow never made it to simulation version)” “Red Rock” just to name a few, I’ll be looking for things like that besides how damage looks on my M3 in 3D lol. But until then I’ll sit back and be patient.

  19. dearlybeloved

i just realised that there is the nurbuggering track included. If I am to make a guess and the demo gets released, then it is going to peak my interest in the game again because finally I will be able to play the nurbuggering using the inside view for the first time in a gt game.

  20. Viktor Navorsky

Man… i´ve saw this Tokyo track soo many times, that when i get the game,it will be the LAST TRACK i will EVER play….

  21. New User

Foolish, that’s not the music from the game. There’s usually transitions when you load up a race, and sound effects, which are clearly not in this video. The music is just an overlay.

  22. Paulo

That garage view is orgasmic. Could you imagine having like 5 rows of 25 cars in there, and being able to walk up and down the aisles to view them, and then selecting one and driving off. Holy shit balls!

  23. yorkstar

They dont even have to publish this full demo with all cars.
but come on, like 1 track with 3 cars ?

thats good for me, otherwice you know a lot of cars even before it is release.

And they should make a official Car list !!!

So we have something to talk about

  24. Big Ron

Yeah, the americans are crying about the Tokio track. But imagine, they would show us the stupid Daytona or Indianapolis road course all the time. Then I would puke and maybe loose my interest on GT5.

Tokio is 5 times better than those american ovals.

  25. ismellbacon611

i still dont think this is the final damage model (for racecars anyway). but for production they can’t do too much because
    1. car manufactures dont like to see their cars broken makes a bad statement about them
    2. kazunori has an avid love for cars and likes to see what they look like going around a track not flying into the wall

so don’t expect burnout style aluminum foil crumling of cars
but then again you never know…

the fact that they have damage in a demo is alone pretty amazing…

and this next one is for all those americans…(me being one but oh well)

you’re tired of seeing tokyo in all gt5 videos ever released well think about it they’re a japanese gaming company so its the very best thing they want to show… we’re sitting here talking bad things about tokyo track and being annoyed by it and it makes us look selfish. i mean we really shouldn’t deserved nascar for all the stuff we’ve been saying about their home track.(even if fiction) eventually the game will be released and you will have a variety of tracks to choose from so right now law off the tokyo track because thats probably all we’re going to see for another long while.

right now i would be happy if the demo is all they have to offer because of gran turismo’s key features such as online play, graphics, and physics. and becuase we know they do have more to offer we shouldn’t be soo needy.

the game will be great with or without a public demo.

GREAT WORK POLYPHONY DIGITAL AND SONY!!!!!!!!!

  26. GTracerRens

I hope there is enough space for 1000 cars in that garage!! ;p Lookin’ good. I hope they release this demo. And please keep us up to date if there is a Japanese release! :)

  27. DrTrouserPlank

Wouldn’t it be the “right thing” for PD or Sony to make a statement on the existence of this demo collection and the likelihood of it’s loyal fans actually receiving this in the near future? Isn’t it always their stance to remain stoic and issue no comment on every aspect of this game?

Personally I think we deserve clarification. A statement on why this demo is even out in the “public”, and why we can’t have it to us to hold us over after waiting so loyally and patiently in the face of almost zero information from an increasingly distant developer.

Whilst they are making this statement, maybe they would like to consider employing a little honesty and telling us (for better or for worse) what the REAL plan is regarding the release of this title, either this year or in 2011.

  28. Flagmo-T

Just because there is WRC Cars, doesn’t mean that is WRC.. The tracks is needed to be saying That, for me it’s just rally cars..

I’m Not impressed, this we have known for 5 years…

Why add a bicycle if there aren’t any ppl around to use it, the only people on Tokyo is the Drivers and the few in the pit.. The race will be Orsm on Tokyo no doubt, but Come on!! is it really that exiting for a developer point of view.. Not in my mind.. the last 10% is missing, and also in the Damage models, They should never had gone this way. Rear Bumper and front bumper hanging to each side isn’t damage it’s foolish and not very realistic, It’s actually just look ridiculous ..

All this I wrote was in frustration..

This i say with my heart!!
beautiful work PD :O) thank you so much for the last 10%, you are so good at this (((O_+)))

  29. Mustangmiha

AWESOME!! As a collector, I must get this somehow, no matter how expensive or cheap it is! It’s already 14h, and the day cannot be even better! :D

  30. Dan_

    Holy crap!

Alright, now we’ve seen the demo ( God bless PD ), and what about giving it to Prologue owners?

  31. tyl0r_r

these graphics take a huge crap all over any other race game i’ve ever seen, which is a lot of them. they finally made nice trees. and the warehouse full of cars was literally exactly what i wanted but never expected.

  32. kaos

My god, this youtube video is just terrific. Can’t wait to play this game.
When does mister yamauchi give us this masterpiece :(

  33. Praggia

Personally I think PD has this nearly wrapped up and are just adding the finishing touches

The problem is that big wig corporates at Sony have obviously taken control of this project and it is so obvious that they will release this game when they are able to reap maximum profit.

Yes it is gaming, but at the end of the day its BUSINESS more than anything else

  34. Wheel Nut

Regards PS3 3DTV games it has not been confirmed if games with 3DTV feature will be on a “standard game release disc” or if it will require a seperate “3DTV specific version” to be released.

Of course their could be an option during loading to select “Regular or 3DTV” but we dont know how they are going to market it, if its possible to include both and how they want to go about marketing it.

    15th Jan 2010
MotorTrend editor Peter Lyon was also able to confirm that a “3D version” of GT5 will be available “as soon as 3D TVs become available on the market,” (Sony’s 3D TVs will be available this summer).

  35. Praggia

If they really want to demonstrate the new physics engine then Nurburgring is the track to be included if this demo is released .

Tokyo is a crap track it really is?
    Where are the new tracks?
    NO word on these?

How about the Paul Ricard circuit? or the Millbrook test circuit?

    Come On guys

  36. dearlybeloved

Really pleased with the view of the cars in the hangar as the feeling the player will get is that, “look at my collection of exotic cars” but when I realised that R246 is the track, I thought “hell no! months of seeing that track as a timed demo, please not that track because I would have preferred something else like trial mountain.” Still, looks stunning to say the least.

  37. Praggia

They should really be releasing this to the public
I mean come on how long have we been waiting and to be honest PD should at least try to sate the hunger of its most loyal fans

GT is not a game anymore its a worldwide phenomenon, pulling in WRC, Nascar, Top Gear.

    It is HUGE!!!!

I have a sneaky feeling though that SONY is delaying GT because of the release of their first 3d enables TV’s end quarter 2010

  38. [UK] ANDYW

At least this will give us a trickle of new info/finds, as ‘lherre’ records and uploads new videos and screenshots.
Garage video is nice, reminds me of the PGR3 garage.

  39. DrTrouserPlank

It’s funny that the biggest news we’ve had for a long time is the result of someone breaking an NDA rather than a statement from Sony or PD.

  40. S3 Racer

I think if we get this demo, we get it by next tuersday(psn update) or we never get it.
    Why:
    1. Released with the original jp release date.
    2. Easter present, like the tt demo was a x-mas present for the non-participants to the academy.
    3. The pressure on Sony is now the biggest for the demo, ’cause we just know about it. In 2 weeks we won’t be talking about it anymore.

I want the demo like anybody else, and i don’t think it will throw back Pd with GT5.

    I want Nür-racing Sls

  41. Praggia

This is just gut wrenchingly awful

Why do they have to torture us this way? Come on PD please release this demo to keep us busy while we wait for the full monty pllllleeeeeaasssseeeeeeee.

GT5 is going to stun the world, they are just sooo head and shoulders above the competition.

I want the demo i want the demo i want the demo i want the demo i want the demo

  42. R0M

I asked lherre if he could share the demos so I could publish tons of High Def’ direct feed but didn’t receive a response yet (((-:

  43. Joshua

That garage/hangar is basass. I can just picture having a couple hundred beautifully modeled machines in there for me to gawk at and then hit the circuits with.

  44. yumi

I don’t care how long it takes. If the final release is in the fall but Porsche’s fate is confirmed with the game, then waiting will be easy. :)

  45. hojo

Please let us have this demo to tide us over until the official game release Polyphony…we have been waiting so long. Just put a timer on it like you did with the 350Z demo.

  46. sprint

when i just read that news, i can’t stop thinking about blademask that said:
“…its like a kick in the balls every single time to refresh the site.. see n ew news, get excited… then.. ballpunch :(“

  47. DaveTheStalker

Weird, people’s comments are not showing up on my phone.

Yes, that garage view is beautiful!

  48. W89rnr

Jordan, do you think there’s any chance of a public release and if not, what would be a few of the reasons for keeping it from the people’s hands?
