I reckon you should be aloud to pause and save 24 hr races so you can take breaks to sleep, go out or give the playstation a rest and then continue it later. I really dont want the yellow light of death again.

    1. infamousDee

Yeah, leaving your console on for 72 hours straight was all well and good back in the days when consoles were reliable, but now…

  2. bicarb

Stop the moaning at “only” having 200 Premium cars, why look at the downside of having 800 standard.  Look on the bright side 200 Premium! No pleasing some people!

  3. Craigles

Has anyone else noticed that you cant see out of the back of the mira and yet the rear view mirror can. Hmmmmmmmmm

    1. Häka Mikkinen

I’m a little afraid that the pixelated shadows on the dash will be distracting when using cockpit view on tracks with lots of trees.

On the other hand, after playing GT4 again yesterday in all it’s SD glory on a 50″ full HD tv i’m encouraged by how quickly the brain can adapt to graphical shortcomings when you are in the zone.

    2. Geo_212

Another thing I like about Forza 3… But Forza is more about accuracy of shadows more than lighting. GT5 rules in the area of accurate lighting.

    3. infamousDee

Forza’s interior shadows are as pixelated as Gran Turismo’s. Not to mention the fact they’re not dynamic, plus exterior shadows are also pixelated.

    1. Vulcao

That’s exactly what was made on this video, I think. We can’t hear any sound but the game’s. The problem is that the volume on TV was too high, which makes the sound go out of the clip.

  4. lee

looks good….I do hope there are more classic race cars like Lola T70’s, alfa 33tt’s and Matra’s etc. And more up to date lmp cars like lola, dyson, riley & scott etc.

It is possible that ( If polophony decide to ) we might get more cockpit views/ cars as a patch at a later date?

Also, can someone help me…I’m not sure if i’m being dumb but on this website on my PC, I can watch youtube video’s in 480 – 1080 HD but if I watch them on my PS3, I don’t get the option.

    1. HugoStiglitz_420

yea man same here. the ps3 is capable of 1080p obviously but maybe the ps3s browser is incapable of streaming high def

  5. DirtyMudFlaps

    for 4th video…

    LOOKBACK Fail @ 0:35

The rear-view mirror is clear, then you look back to find impenetrable louvers…wtf

  6. Craigles

Why do they bother with a rear view camera on the mira, or keoneggzeg ccx if its in the game. Reply to me if you know.

  7. Craigles

You dont need the driving line. You can just use the parts of the track were it has been rubberd in under breaking. You could mabey use the driving line if it was dark but any other time (except for learners) you shouldnt use it because gt5 is a simulator trying to get as close to real life as possible so thats a no for the driving line.

  8. Paulo

Have people not realized yet that PD implemented a braking indicator in the way of flashing the most probable gear to downshift to near the current gear display box when you’ve reached the braking zone?? This visually lets you know when to brake. This guy turns off the braking line for what reason I have no idea because he sure as hell doesn’t use the other method.

Bad driving aside, game looks sick, went to Best Buy where I lived but they do not have demo =(

    1. pLiDeX

lol i think the guy from the first video isn’t a GT hardcore fan, i hope that in GT5 you can turn off that indicator, for me it’s very annoying, because i try to race without any help but it’s impossible not to se that thing flashing

    2. gNNY

if “hardcore fan” is defined as “exceptional driver” then I’m not hardcore. If it’s defined as “taking a vacation just for checking out GT5 at GamesCom and buying almost 1000 EUR worth of video equipment just so that you guys can critizise my driving here on GTPlanet” though, then, yes, please consider me a “hardcore fan”! ;)

As for turning off the driving line: see comments above. Also, this is not like we were playing GT5, it was us trying all kinds of different stuff. And I’m a bad driver, too, so there, you made me say it.

      :D

    3. pLiDeX

lol oh ok, i understand, for me a hardcore fan is someone that has dedicated a lot of hours to GT games, someone that knows every little detail of information released about GT5, i don’t know you so i was making a supposition, i guess i was wrong

i guess you are andrea from the insidesimracing/gtplanet reports right? thank you for the time and money spent, btw, i wish i could take a vacation “just” for going to gamescom and getting to talk to kazunori :P

  9. carl finlow

Hi. I know this is not the place to post this, but i can’t share this news/create a new thread over in the forum.
I’ve just spotted on Amazon france that they are selling the GT5 Collectors edition CHEAPER than GT5 Standard edition! It’s about €4 cheaper, for all that nice extra packaging, 5 cool cars, the 200 page book etc..

If someone could post that on the main forum it would be great news (for GT5 users living in France!)

    1. gNNY

you’re right, cool. Except the whole thing will probably be in french, right? Not the game, but the packaging and whatnot. Too bad, it’s not listed at Germany’s Amazon store, yet. I wonder when they will start the preorders over there.

  10. Bert

Does anyone know, if the Nurburg is playable at Night

Andddd I read on GTplanet before about how you will Flash your head lights, which will give you a 5 second window, for you to overtake the car infront..
Does anyone have any more info on this…?

    1. pLiDeX

i don’t care about the reventon, the superleggera so so, but the superveloce must be in the game, it so awesome, but if they haven’t improved the sounds it won’t be like driving the real thing, it’s sound is incredible

    2. Alex p.

Reventon might be in the game, when Kaz was asked what his favourite car was in the game, he replied: “The stealth fighter Lamborghini.” Which for me sounds like: Reventon.
p.s. I’m driving the Reventon right now on Forza 3, quite a good game I must say.

    3. HugoStiglitz_420

I really want to see the Reventon (so much fun driving cockpit view in forza 3), & the LP670-4 should be a requirement because it’s the fastest lambo so far. I also want to see the zonda cinque & zonda f roadster & the veyron supersport but we may not see them all bcuz you can’t put them as anything but premium

  11. Maxitsu

At the first video, when he he hit the Audi at the chicane whit high speed. The IA held the audi on track, normally it schould spin of the track. I think the IA is decent enough for me, but impact and collision phsychics still s*cks.

    1. Kurenai

What the hell are you talking about. He hit the audi whilst braking, the Audi’s rear jumped in the air landed and the AI held the spin. It’s called controlling the car. It’s called good car control. If you take into account how fast he was going when he hit the Audi (140km/h) then how fast the Audi was actually going at the point of impact, that wasn’t more than a 70km/h collision.

And just because the AI controlled the spin, that has no correlation to impact and collision physics. What we saw there was far better impact and collision physics we’ve ever had on GT before.

    2. gNNY

and by the way, the collision was done purposely so that you guys could see this effect. Really. It was not my bad driving, I wanted to test exactly this effect… :|

  12. Craigles

I am such a re. I kept thinking that november was after september and then i remembered the dredid october. WHY GOD WHY.

    1. gNNY

best comment yet :D Sometimes, I can’t remember what weekday is today but this is even better. “Hunt for Red October” anyone?

    1. Denur

It’s about cockpit view for standard cars, that they are trying to put something in like in GT PSP (black cardboard). But we now know that that is not going to happen after all. No cockpit view for standard cars has been confirmed by KY.

    1. Bernd

All cars can catch fire, if not maintained properly. I once had a colleague, whose otherwise reliable Ford Capri lit up one day, because the fuelfilter leaked

    2. FlareKR

Car companies wouldn’t allow their cars to blow up, catch fire, or have the passenger compartment disturbed (roof flattening or ripping off). Obviously if your car can explode in a game, imagine real life; they don’t want that perception. That’s why car combat games, GTA or Mafia, Burnout, and Split/Second have fake cars. Blur is an exception, Activision was pretty damn lucky to do that.

    1. SEIDO463

I think it’ll sound better playing it first hand through quality speakers, the deeper sounds will come through clearer… but still I’m not sure..

  13. KilzoneStrife

…November..hurry ! Yesterday,I played Forza 2,3 ,GT1, GT3,GT4…just to pass time by…And,I got impressed all over again with all the GT’s! ,I was 11 when I bought GT1 and it still looks rockin to me! A game before its time, like GT5 among these other car sims and arcade racers.

  14. llllllllllllll

kool :) .. can’t wait , i just want one more demo , at least 5 cars and 2 tracks and it will make me busy for 2 months ! :) ..

    1. Bernd

Not all premium-cars will be Super-Cars, it could very well happen, that a Mini comes as Premium, while a Camaro or something comes as Standard

    2. Sigmaviper11

I highly doubt it. Premium simply denotes what grade of bonus amenities you get. Like better damage cockpits and high beams. I hardly see it being likely that a premium Fiat 500 would cost more than a standard CTR-2. Though dlc wise if they release both types expect Premium packages to cost more.

    3. Erik

The price should depend on the market value of the actual real world car, and not how it is represented in the game. Although it could be pretty funny at the car dealer: “Oh, you want a steering wheel? That’s gonna cost you some extra, dude…”

    4. infamousDee

Sigmaviper, there will be no “Standard” car DLC. Any new cars in the game are Premium, the rest are ported from Gran Turismo 4.

    5. Goshin2568

@InfamousDEE Ummm, no… What about countach? That’s confirmed standard, and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t in GT4.

    6. J-KiLLA24

@infamousDee, not all standard cars are from gt4. You should know that the SLR McLaren was in gt4 yet in gt5 it is still a premium. Some of those other 800 cars are from GTPSP also. Some cars from gt4 have become premium cars in gt5.

    7. Geo_212

I’d much rather they spent an equal amount of time on all of the cars, recreating a decent cockpit view. Or, cut out maybe 400 of the other cars so they can make 600 cars with highly detailed (though not as much as the current Premiums) cockpits. But here’s what I’m hoping: It IS possible they could just release DLC that updates all of the Standard cars to have a decent cockpit view. That would make me happy :D

Though I’d want that more for bragging rights than as a necessity. I actually drive better on the bumper cam or hood cam. Cockpits on all 1,000+ cars would just be a “TAKE THAT, FORZA!” kind of thing.

(I am in no way bashing PD or Forza. We can’t change what PD and Kaz have done and are doing with the game. And Forza is still a fantastic game; GT5 will just simply kick its butt thoroughly.)

    1. gNNY

because in real life there ain’t no driving line there either :D

Sometimes I do that because it’s fun. Of course, I haven’t tried Monza before so I didn’t know the course but if you know it you don’t need the driving line any longer because you just know when to brake and what turn’s next.

Also, without the driving line you get a nicer view of the course itself, so I thought it was a good idea for the video.

    2. Mr Frappy

I find that using a racing line to learn the layout of a track is more distracting as you focus less on what really matters. So, I rarely use it apart from when I fancy hot lapping a track that I know quite well, but just need more precise braking points.

    3. pLiDeX

i think David asked that because the driver wasn’t very good, so he sould leave it on

i always race without it, i don’t understand why people like to be told how to drive the car, maybe they are lazy and don’t want to take the time to learn to drive each car, but then i don’t understand why they are playing gran turismo

    1. Sum1s2pid

I concur. The Miura is a timeless beauty. I can’t wait to take her for a spin around the Nordschleife myself, and revel in that raucous V12 ruckus.

      Is it November 2, yet?

    2. Bernd

@witham – That picture really made me very sad, seeing the Audi R8 Racing-version, Countach and Renault Alpine as Standard. A bad surprise in the morning :-(
