Major Gran Turismo 5 Feature Still “Undisclosed”

After all we’ve learned over the past week, is the best still yet to come? That’s what Sony’s associate Gran Turismo 5 producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda hinted at during this video interview with “Gamestradamus“. When asked about his “favorite feature” in the last question of the interview, Chris responds “Eh..that is undisclosed.” Chris also mentions that they’ve listened closely to the “forums and blogs” (read: us) when choosing how to implement the game’s online features and functionality.

Chris also fielded questions in this good interview with IGN. If nothing else, be sure to watch it for the great HD video of Photomode locations.

Can anyone remember that video released a while back of the tracking software… the one that you installed in your real car and then could have the data recreated in GT so the in game car took every corner, every braking zone etc the same… Now think about the top gear test track… the stigs laps… ghosted into GT5… online competitions to beat the stig… excited… i am!

  2. nightfox

Everyone thinking standard cars will have interiors, please stop hallucinating. PD barely took the care to change GT4 logos on some of the cars, so what makes you think all 1000 will have cars? I think that PD should have cut some time off dev by removing the 800 cars. I’d rather have 200 super detailed and realistic looking than those old GT4 models. So again, stop hallucinating, will ya?!

  3. GMW

Dynamic Weather is most likely the important feature!

I remember playing some old british rally game (from the 90’s) that had the weather go from dry to pouring rain and the rally car handled differently and got real dirty fast. It just adds a lot to the racing atmosphere and excitement. Plus, this would further add usefulness to the car wash in GT5

    Crossing fingers..and toes!:-)

  4. HenGTX

I think the costumization is bigger then we think and therefore the undisclosed information. Cause on the American GT site there’s a picture where costumization is written under the GT Shop. It seems to me that the costumization takes place there. And I think/hope it’s more than just spoilers and rims.

  5. Spawnofstumpy

Dynamic weather we`l get (i really hope we get anyway`s). But i think the unnaounced thing is Formula 1. You have WRC, Nascar, Le-man etc. i remember years ago KY being asked if he would do a formula 1 game & he was quite keen but was too wrapped up in GT3 or 4.
Its not bikes as KY has said “its a possibility to have them in, but theyre not in there”

    1. thewabel

Its not gonna be f1 – the concord agreemnt in f1 only allows the licene to be used by one company which is currently Codemaster. unless they use older models (eg. gt5p released in 2008 used the 2007 ferrari). Shame sony no longer have the licence really as a pd f1 game would have been the ultimate.

  6. obi_one

How about racing against real live lap times taken with that gps thing they build it a wile ago? And times from Stig laps ?

  7. Limited edition GT liveries

@ J.B. I believe your 3 reasons follow a vein that PD has covered quite substantially though not quite to your extent, making it unlikely. You can see it officially on gran-turismo.com, page 6 on their latest article.

But my suggestion, I believe, follows a vein less travelled and fits this grand puzzle nicely. It could be a livery editor since PD is offering its own LM edition liveries. Unless this is exactly what should make us doubt it’s a livery editor…but possibly not.

I hope that there will be plenty of NASCAR tracks so that everyone will realize how much better it is to race nice cars on them. I also hope for the return of Red Rock Valley and more tracks like it so atleast NASCAR goons might realize that they should races on tracks like that.

  8. J.B.

I’d also love to see a variable racing line. In Nascar the racing line changes or can change within the race. It could be cool to see you actually have the ability to see a track get grippier as the race goes on and as rubber continues to build up.

I know we don’t have a lot of Nascar fans on this site, but I’d love to see PD hit this out of the park when it comes to Nascar. I hope the High Line at Daytona works and its not a situation where you run on the line and that’s it… I want to see side by side, multi grove tracks…and looking at the other side of that, it would be great to see that if you get off the racing line, your tires will pick up marbles and your car will react similar to driving through the grass.

  9. J.B.

I think the new feature is more along the custom theme…

    1. I think you will be able to create your driver/avatar… In the new demo, most of the drivers had a white helmet (which was different than the ones we’ve seen to that point.) as well as a different driver’s suit (I believe is was a Simpson with the helmet vs. The Sparco we’ve seen in the past). I think we will be able to create our drivers from head to toe.

    2. I also hope or think it would be cool if we could create our own garage for the “My Lounge” feature. Something similar to what they had in Project Gothem. Something where you can display your cars maybe put replays on a TV…. But a “world” or area (different style garages, homes, lofts etc.) and you and your friends will have the ability to walk around, similar to photo mode and view your “lounge”.

    3. I’d also love to see an online series mode. Similar to setting up a season online, but a way to set up a season at different tracks with a restricted car point system or make and set up those leagues as you wish….similar to Madden in football or N2003 for the computer.

I would welcome all 3 and love number 2 in PGR and think that is something KY would absolutely love and would try to create in his masterpiece, given how much he loves that type of display like photo mode.

  10. LoneWanderer

And maybe the new feature is Gran Turismo for Boys like Yamauchi had wanted to implement into GT5

  11. LoneWanderer

this may not be part of the topic of the article, but i saw an ad for GT5 in a Wired magazine and Special Stage Route 5 is confirmed to be included.

Just wanted to put that out there.

  12. Gtkiller

Hope they give us more details on tuning it’s one of favorites part about gt series. It really is ashame game reviewers will make negtive comments based on the standard cars. They probably won’t even highlight some the new features of the game.

  13. AndyVan

Just a thought, but i’m thinking there will be 16 “standard” cars on track during a race and probably only 8 “premium” cars once they have the “full damage” model running. Given the extra amount of body deformation that will impact “premium” cars… this is only my speculation and probably holds no water… with damage off? probably 16 cars…

  14. Morgan

I believe by Premium Interiors, they mean seeing the driver and the cars interior from the outside views in the replays etc. The basic cars will have the blacked out windows in the replays and will have the dashboard view so the head-tracking will work.

That is my speculation on the issue, but it would be nice to get an Official definitive answer.

  15. Cockpit Driver

It’s not gonna be graphics or sound related stuff because those are not FEATURES. Rain is not a feature, it’s a graphical element.

It can be an online mode or some new gameplay option.

    1. Dim

rain IS a feature. the handling of the cars changes dramatically.

Codemasters have spent half of their time building around the complicated weather system of F1 2010.

since PD has included Day/Night and they want to make THE ‘real driving simulator’ it has to be the weather.

  16. DarthStig1

I too still believe there’s a possibility of having interiors for all the cars. If we can see through the windows then maybe that car ought to have an interior…

This one I like – God, after so many years its amazing how good this game still appears, it was so ahead of its time.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEjKZxpeLqg all the cars.

  17. Nato_777

As yet undisclosed, I think could be weather details also the customization hasn’t been explained in any real detail yet.
As to the premium/standard issue – I think it is a great shame that the standard cars appear to be so substandard (in comparison with the premium cars). It is a pity that GT5 is in danger of becoming infamous for their inclusion and not for the supreme masterpeice that the rest of the game surely will be. I think having the standard cars in the game may be a mistake Kaz lives to regret given his obsession for perfection and the high standard of game these standard cars just don’t appear to fit in right. It seems it would have been better to spent the time creating more premium cars than optimising the 800+ previous version cars for the PS3. They could have released the game with 400 premium cars and made more available to purchase and download as they are able to create them. I certainly hope that downloadable cars will be a feature (downloadable tracks will be great too).
Then again if all the cars were premium and other features such as day/night cycle, weather etc.. didn’t make it as a result we’d all be upset then as well. You just can’t please everyone all the time. At any rate GT5 is going to be epic regardless.
I guess we will all see when the game is released, I hope we are pleasently surprised and find that we were worried over nothing.

  18. DarthStig1

Weather is weather – I think it’s something more exciting. Besides, I prefer driving in the dry – never really tried the wet Tsubuka in GT4

    1. Bernd

You didn’t drive Tsukuba wet ? How on earth did you earn all the money needed for 1 super-car alone (Audi R8 or Toyota GT1 cost 4.500.000)

  19. chrisrar

One thing which should be mentioned is…. the furore surrounding when GT5 was shown at gaming events LAST YEAR… people complained a huge amount regarding the damage. Because back then it was stated that only premium cars would be damaged at all and standard cars would not. But now in some way all cars will be damaged.

Id be very suprised if there wasn’t an interior view for each vehicle at least in some capacity. after all this is Polyphony

  20. cuarache_GTR

oh yeah i hope the secret is engine drive train transplants always wanted an MX5 (miata to yanks) with a twin rotary twin turbo engine

  21. cuarache_GTR

completely separate issue i know but due to the complaints of car engine sounds (vacuum cleaner lol) i thought i’d do a little research i searched four cars fiat coupe 20vt, bmw m5 ’05, subaru impreza wrx sti GD1 and ek honda civic type R from GT4 and compared them to there real life counterparts on YOUTUBE I purposely picked cars with very distinct engine sounds to make the test even harder. I found that bar the lack of low down engine rumble and the pitch of the revs going a little too high the sounds have been faithfully reproduced by PD now i dont suck kaz d*** i actually believe forza SOUNDS better than GT but i think some of us need to cut PD some slack with the improved technology (ps2/dvd/sD sound – ps3/bd/hd sound) they’ll be using i’m anticipating man furismo jive will sound alot better considering.

  22. Vector

I hope they red my topic on GTPlanet saying that it would be a good idea to make a customization possibility to put a flamethrower in each car!

  23. FastFurious

The undisclosed feature is the Weather system because that’s the only thing I haven’t seen in trailers and screens and I hope it’s in it :P

    1. Big Ron

there are much more things to present than the weather system. for example the complete damage system, especially for NASCAR, all tracks, better racing series presentation (maybe with trailers), more cars than always Mercedes and Ferrari and much more.

I mean, the whole game has been raised only with cut scenes and screenshots, even the demos were just little parts of the whole game, always showing the arcade mode.

So, in result, the whole game is undisclosed, because most thing are not seen in detail.

    2. JesseDeya

@Big Ron: I don’t think you understand what undisclosed means. Basically, if we know about it (officially), then it’s disclosed. PD has told us about the damage system, they have told us (more or less) about the tracks (and they aren’t ‘features’ anyway), and we know there will be more cars than Mercedes and Ferraris… just because we haven’t seen them doesn’t mean they are undisclosed.

As far as I can tell, the main, and most obvious feature that is undisclosed (ie: has not been confirmed by PD) is weather. As I mentioned above, they have hinted at it, and the E3 trailer shows what looks like rain drops hitting the ground at the start (silhouette ).

  24. randomguy

all cars will have interiors. Use your head! Susuki capiccino from prologue had interiors and it is not premium!

    Please dont troll the information.

  25. ElieTheBear

Remember the unsellable Nissan GT-R Proto ’05 in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue … black tinted windows and no cockpit view !

    1. Daniel

Yes, but the GT-R Proto is a concept that in real life also has tinted windows and i’ve never seen an interior foto of this car in the internet. don’t know why, but I’ve noticed that in GTP and i’ve got curious about the inetrior, but never found a foto of it…

  26. Blinkwing

We shouldn’t be all to “pissy” about the standard and premium cars.
I’m sure, PD just wants to say, that standard cars don’t have 100% the same cockpit as the real cars.

  27. Big Ron

For me, it would be more intelligent to give most race cars the premium-status and street cars the standard-status.

Because the damage system and special effects on race cars is more important than on street cars and the manufactureres are more tollerant with their race car-brands than road cars.

  28. mht999

    the stig
i guess i was wrong ,i forgot about the enzo but i think the countach is standard cuz you can see it under the standard cars section in the official gt site

    1. Big Ron

too bad to hear that. for me GT on PSP does not count, cause the PSP is a Playstation for kiddies.

First time, we see a Lamborghini in the real GT-series and it is ranked as standard. Hope, it is well done it modeling.

    2. mht999

yea it’s really a shame if the countach is standard all super cars which are new to the series should be premium

  29. djs

Not only we have to suffer the lame engine sounds, now we have to spare GT5’s most impressive new feature for the vast majority of cars.

Why did our hype went skyrocket with this game?

  30. Juan Ramos

As a software developer, i know that is not very realistic to expect that all cars will have cockpit view. There are two reasons for that:

    1) Lack of space on the blu-ray disk
    2) The amount of time required to make one of these cockpits.

It’s not possible right now guys, we can’t have cockpit view on each car.

What disappoints me is the selection of premium cars they made. A daihatsu it’s a premium car but a lamborghini countach it’s not?

Come on… It’s not fair. I just hope that the Supra RZ may be a premium car.

    1. mht999

i can’t believe that they’ve spent 5 years 2 only make 200 premium cars (75 cars is abviously gona be from prologue)and probably only 100 cars of those worth keeping and there is a posibility that there wont be a huge change in the standard’s model ,it’s gona be better in polygons with a surface that don’t reflect images like premium one’s and has the same engine sound ,i know they’ve worked hard to develop the game and i appreciate there work and i’m gona buy it no matter what ,for the first time i hope i’m wrong

  31. Big Ron

All ferraris will be premium, I think. Same with Lamborghini. Cause they are build from scratch and new in the GT series within the 200 new cars.

    1. the stig

ferrari enzo is from psp too and is premium.
its not that if the car is from gt4 or gt psp then it will not be premium.we dont know how they chose premium/standart.

  32. the stig

if veyron, zondas, reventon(we already know that there are premium monsters like mclaren,gallardo,murcielago,m5,c63,ferraris,some nissans etc…) will be premium and they will confirm weather(RAIN) then I’ll be fine with what I get.
also I really want regal gnx in premium.

the point is if there will be these amazing machines in premium quality on those amazing tracks(especially top gear track, god I love that show ;)) it will be enough

oh and hope there will be ferrari fxx, premium of course

    1. ElieTheBear

I dont think they build new cars and put it in the standard categorie…. standard are old gt series car brought in

  33. Niko

Answer to me please, all cars Standard/Premium have cockpit view in GT5??

    Only premium 200 cars?

    Thanks.

  34. mht999

if my guess is right then the no interior view rumor is true ,i’m kind sad but i’ll be depressed if i’m gona play with the same lame engine sound,to me engine sound is more important

  35. icant55

If dynamic weather is the “BIG SECRET…”, Then the windshield wipers should work on all of the cars(premium & standard) especially the SLOWER ONES RIGHT?

  36. mht999

guys i’ve just figured out somthing, you might already know it but i’m gona say it anyway
you can tell the difference between a premium car and a standard one by it’s black tinted windows
i remember that was in previous games (gt 1,2,3,4)

  37. Alan

One feature id like to see would be a 2nd hand car market where there would be an owner history record or log book, plus being able to set what price u want to sell your car at or make a bid on how much u wanna pay for a car.

  38. Rasmus

Oh, and the people here claiming that you will not buy GT5 because of this, shut up please.

We all know 95 % of the people in here will buy the game regardless criticism. That’s the thing, PD have us right where they want us – they can do whatever they like, maybe people will cheer, maybe they’ll complain, but it doesn’t matter for the sales. Every GT fan WILL buy the game no matter what!

    1. Big Ron

pd as well as many other developers would never do whatever they want and run in danger to upset the community with intention and lose their affection. each developer takes great care to take account of the user wishes, and with them to build into the game, whenever possible.

to say, they have us where they want to have is a bit too frivolous.

  39. Rasmus

We can keep guessing all we want… which I’ll do too. :P

My guess is that the standard cars WILL have some sort of cockpit view, of course not as detailed as the Premium cars. I at least hope they’ll do like 20 or more different versions of the generic cockpit, so a cockpit of, say, an old Honda Civic won’t look the same as a cockpit of a Ferrari.

Has it occured to any of you that there may be more than ONE undisclosed feature?! Just because this guy says his favorite feature is still undisclosed, doesn’t mean there is no more goodies in the bag other than the one he’s refering to.

As far as I can see, everything points to weather as well, hopefully changeable, like in ex. GTR2 (my favorite game/sim).

I don’t think a track editor is likely, mostly due to the fact that it’s a loooooot of work and the user created tracks wouldn’t fit in to Kaz’ picture perfect world.

And the couple of guys thinking about a small city that you can cruise around in – forget it. Not gonna happen I think. Test Drive Unlimited 2 is your game then. ;)

Also, I know it’s a small thing, but I’m also hoping for skidmarks, though it’s not necessary for a great game.

Regardless of all these things, Gran Turismo 5 will be the greatest racing GAME (not sim) ever made. I have faith in Kaz n the rest of PD. Just hope they’ll soon bring the EU release date!

  40. Marcus

New information has pointed to tyre wear as well as mini championships were points are used. Also the return of a career mode.

  41. Big Ron

You can see in the second video, that there are definitely more than 8 cars (up to 16?) are on the track. That is a big plus, because in every demo we´ve seen only 8.

  42. Marcus

We really need a car list. Unfortunately for us kaz will almost certainly with hold this info until tgs

    1. danielwhite74

Kaz has never released a full car list for any game in the Gran Turismo series prior to its release.

    2. Rasmus

… and he has never released one after its release, neither. The car lists you can find are created by users.

  43. danielwhite74

ElieTheBear, the 458 is a Standard car because it does not feature deformation, only scratches and mechanical damage, as shown here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=TVTGAhnHviA

Yet despite this, it also features a cockpit view, as shown here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=3TXpXclylWg

    1. nasanu

How do you know deformation was on in the menu? Also how do you know it has been included for all cars in that build?

Wait that 458 is one of the cars used to demo GT5 vs real life. They used the engine shot. Only premium cars were used for that.

  44. chrisrar

Either dynamic weather, especially given the overhaul of particles and how they interact with lighting. weather would also be done via particle simulation…

Or possibly a track editor….gone a bit quiet on that front. But the inclusion of either will be awesome for GT5.

  45. Robert

I do think it will by dynamic weather. I think the game will have more of a link with the race track.

I.E. You will be racing alongside real cars racing at that time. With real time weather there will be some massive multiplayer events alongside the real racing.

Ghost cars created from real data logging.

  46. mht999

i think the weather is possible on gt5 , in worst case they can reduce the numbers of cars like what they did with gt3

    1. AquaTICK

      Circa 2007

French vidéo game magazine ” JOYPAD” goes to Japan and meet K Yamauchi at polyphony digital and give us 3 pages of interview and some more scoop about GT5:

      – All cars and tracks of GT4 will be in GT5
      – more cars and tracks should be downloadable
      – 4 driving views
      – damages for the race cars
      – All Ferrari + F1
      – new city tracks
      – online drivers : 12 to 20
      – changing weather during race

    2. fade

Translation of a translation, looks sketchy but interesting.

Online drivers 12-20? How odd, why not 2-20? 12 is a minimum?

This is the first time we’ve heard 20, I thought the maximum was 16. I lobby limit of 20 was mentioned previously and I assumed it meant there could be 4 spectators if the 16 slots were full.

All GT4 tracks? This is just a huge difference to previously released track info.

All ferrari + F1 – does this mean all road ferrari’s plus some ferrari F1 cars?

  47. nintandrew

Since there is damage, does that mean we would have to pay to fix our vehicle after a damaging race, or will it just be miraculously fixed. I realize no one here has the full game, but what are some thoughts on this? I think it would be realistic, but if you’re starting out with hardly any money and after your first race, your car pulls to the right constantly and its performance is lowered but you can’t afford to fix it, what do you do? Restart I guess, or do license tests for another car to be awarded to you and try to not wreck that one.

    1. HenGTX

You are going to be very carefull with your cars and everybody else in Online Mode too. It would be fantastic if that’s what they mean with the career mode. Then you are going to think twice wheither you’ll hit that corner at full speed or not. Just like in real life.

    2. TTownEP

Maybe you can get a job on a pit crew, working a jack with the Move controller, until you can save up and get your parts you need, haha.

    3. Bernd

I’m with you. After a violent crash, it should take some time, to fix it, and it should cost a realistic amount of money. That’ll make you think twice, before you ram your opponent. If you damage your car in a 3 or5 lap race – it’s over !

  48. Alexander Pee

I’m still kind of upset being the lack of tracks and all… i don’t understand polyphony’s philosophy in upgrading all aspects of the game but reducing the amount of tracks that will be in gt5… UNTIL NOW.

He said, “Gran Turismo 5 will have 950 cars, out of the box” which hints to DLC content… which means if there are DLC cars, there will most likely be DLC tracks.

    1. mht999

there will be dlc’s for sure but they also can provide it through an update ,like what they did in gt5p

  49. Ben

You, sir, are an idiot, it was just mentioned above that an IGN interview stated head tracking for every car, head tracking = in-car view.

  50. AMG

NO COCKPITVIEUW FOR 800 STANDERD CARS SO DONT EXPECT COCKPIVIEUW 200 PREMUIM cars 20 premuim track , 800 standard cars , 50 standard tracks

  51. ElieTheBear

I think they are able to put the head tracking in every view angle no ?? surely not a big deal ! but if all cars have cockpit view! damn I’ll buy all 1001 cars !

  52. mr2gts

In ign video (6:42) he said over 1000+ cars have face Tracking. face Tracking works only in cockpit view so all of the cars have cockpit view. but not as Detailed and Beautiful as the 200+ premium car

    1. freeman140

Has anybody noticed that in the E3 trailer there is a scene where an old corvette turns the head lights on, and its very detailed. Yet, on the “standard cars” video there is a similar corvette (in the scene where there are a lot muscle cars) that seems to be from GT4 with no cockpit and aparently not as detailed. Why have a car already highly detail and not include it in the game itself, but only on trailers?… that just adds more to the confusion between standard and premium cars.

  53. Luke

I would like to be able to customize my interior in the premium cars. That means if i add a turbo in my NA car i want the option to add new gauges to match the upgrade. And if i make my car lighter the interior should of course be changed. Maybe at highest level you only have the steering wheel left :)
And a dyno would be nice, either to fine tune the engine for maximum output or just for reference to see at which RPM the engine is producing the most efficient power.

  54. DarthStig1

With regards to Chris Hinojosa, it will probably be something to do with the online feature(s).

    1. ElieTheBear

can’t wait to rollover my sls amg by night because of a long speed straight nurburgring raining slip corner online of course : ) I’ll take a picture of that while in the air ! jajaja I think at this point we cant fear the game to be bad !! It will be ! SICK

  55. DarthStig1

I hope it’s something subtle but important like improved engine noises – it’s one area which can easily be improved and enhances the gaming experience greatly – it would really put the icing on the cake for me and many others.

    1. Luke

Because rain makes it harder to drive, it requires you to change your driving, slow down, be more careful. And in the endurance races it adds a small tactical approach if you have to change tires in the middle of the race.

  56. KOUKI507

I wrote an entry on my modest blog about this:

    enginedbeasts.blogspot.com/2010/06/will-it-be-possible-to-improve.html

I think the wind tunnel we see in the E3 video has to do with this secret feature.

I’ll be glad to know what you guys think of my theory!

  57. Black Chamber

Let’s be honest here – the two features that all of us want to be be disclosed are weather and vehicle customization.

I firmly believe that at the Gamescom event [or possibly the Tokyo Game Show] we will find out that BOTH of these features are in the game.

You all know that personally, I would choose rain over customization – but having both would be like winning the lottery – and then finding out that you won the lottery. ;)

  58. danielwhite74

Also, Standard vehicles have been confirmed as featuring damage modelling. If Standard models were simply ported from Gran Turismo 4 unedited, then that would be impossible. As I have always maintained, this all points to Standard cars featuring interior view.

  59. Stu

If you can have dust clouds and day/night transitions it’s not a huge leap to integrate weather features.

  60. danielwhite74

The Audi also looks to have more realistic lighting than the other two cars, pointing to the possibility of entirely new Standard cars, and more notably, cockpit view.

As you can see, the black Audi R8 in the trio of Standard cars has a Gran Turismo 5 livery. Interesting…

  62. Fritz

I surprised out of almost 200 comments the livery editor has been suggested only 3 times. If the undisclosed feature is to do with customization it better this. Speaking of 200 premium cars or even the complete 1000, how many groups are there really that could be pratically raced with one another? Add to that millions of people playing the game and you’re going to want a way to distinguish yourself other than your laptime.

And to suggest a track editor is useless is appalling. With a mere five new tracks shown, and a comment telling us it takes an insane 2.5 years to make one, even a highly rudimentary track editor would quintuple the already astronomical replay value of an online Gran Turismo. With a user created track no one can care in the least of how accurate to real life it is..

The only thing that can possibly satisfy without a track editor is if all tracks form the entire GT series come back plus that 20 number (now 15) thats been floating around.

    1. HenGTX

Itotally agree with you on personalizing the cars. Can’t wait to put my logo on my (really fast) cars.

  63. Dylan

My theory is real time dynamic weather. Livery should be lumped together with customization and in my opinion a track editor would be useless.

    1. Dylan

They also talk about the dynamic lighting effects in relation to dust, smoke etc and I believe that would hold much more weight if snow or rain were brought into the mix.

  64. Niko

    Yeah remember,but GT4 not ONLY 20 tracks.How many WRC tracks in GT5,2-3?

    I waiting 5 years this GT5:400+premium cars,50+tracks,dynamic weather system,day/night cycle/confirmed/,and all cars cockpit view!!

No this:800 GT4HD cars and no cockpit view,20 tracks:(ok,200 premium cars its amazing!I’m disappointing.

    1. danielwhite74

Nowhere has it been said that Standard vehicles don’t featiure cockpit view. The Ferrari 458 Italia is a standard car, since it does not feature deformation, yet it has a fully modelled interior.

  65. Leondrift

if you remember people, Their was a wet race on GT4 but only on one track so i’m pretty sure the game will have dynamic wheather :)

    1. Philmangt

Well with that, weather is to be pretty much a given.. but as to whether it is dynamic or not, who knows. i hope so though

    1. tvensky

no its a “noob tube” attached to bumper, you will be able to shoot around the track in online mode, especially in drive & destroy racing mode ^_^

    1. Marcus

How about 89 turn 8s from istanbul park thats right 5 g for 11 minutes. Witness as your drivers head falls off

  66. hot-wok

Guys guys, damn get you hopes down a bit so don’t get burned again lol.

Oh and I hope to god they WON’T include a track editor, would totally spoil the game and it doesen’t belong in Gran Turismo!

    1. ElieTheBear

yeah who the hell will race gt tracks if we can build some crazy tracks out ! could be kool though .. some will become popular online .. and maybe they will build them in real life lol …

  67. ElieTheBear

last feature remaining is .. skidmarks … rain/snow(weather) ….. right ? we got all the rest … so the undisclosed feature is weather right ? … or something we never thought about ! what means undisclosed lol ?? not yet revealed ?

  68. SALEEN_S7-GTR

That has got to be the slowest driver and worst driver I have ever seen play Gran Turismo. (The first video.)

  69. mrSparko

When he was talking about how cool it would be to drive down Rome in a Ferrari, I though about free-roaming. Think about it, it would be awesome! They said it took around 2 years to create some of the tracks, so it is possible that they have just rendered the entire city (or a part of), so you could just drive around with realistic physics and real damage (meaning, dont crash with other cars or buildings or you’ll have to start from the begyning or something, that would prevent some gta-style driving).
Now that could be someones “favorite feature”! Weather is just like “oh, we have rain, that’s pretty cool”, but other already disclosured features; multiplayer, damage, dynamic lightning is much more “likeable”.

  70. ferr.ox96

I don’t think it’s weather for the simple reasons that it’s too simple to be considered a big thing, so I think it’s already in the game. My guesses: Car customization (livery editor, wind tunnel, performance and change of body panels), Track Editor (unfortunately it’s highly unlikely) or some new cars like F1..

    1. JesseDeya

Of course whatever the undisclosed feature is it’s already in the game… the point is that we haven’t seen it yet (hence undisclosed).

Also, weather might be ‘simple’ if it’s just dry, overcast, wet, downpour… but that isn’t Kaz’s style. I’m tipping dynamic weather, perhaps with the option to link to real world forecasts for the track (in sync with the real time of day options).

Customisation is already in the game, Kaz has confirmed it and has said it is better than GT4 – so it shouldn’t be that as it’s already disclosed.

Some more F1 cars is already ‘disclosed’ – just look at the E3 teaser trailer – if the 30 seconds of Red Bull, Adrian Newey and Seb Vettel don’t convince you I don’t know what will.

Track editor – maybe, but it would need to be massively powerful to allow people to create tracks worthy of GT5.

My money is still on weather.

  71. Marcus

    @smoke1485 me.

Like i said in response to someone else i genuinely think that this is something that hasn’t been speculated. So below is a bunch of totally original modes not ripped off from anybody at all. Except maybe top gear.

    Car footbal
    Car Ice hockey
    Car Long Jump
Car diving(as in swimming pool, rolls royce :)
    Car vs Monster truck
    Car sumo
    Avatar creation
    Car High Jump
    Bikes
    Car darts
    Caravan conkers

Please anybody below this don’t rant on about the same old thing. Standard cars may or may not have cockpits so wait until confirmation before moaning.

  72. Super T

“950 cars out of the box…”

So thats ‘almost’ confirmed DLC in the form of car packs, not sure if thats a good or a bad thing, extra cars/tracks can never be a bad thing. I guess we’ll have to see what the cost verses content of the DLC packs is like.

    Bring on november. :)

  73. Blinkwing

To point out: Kazunori San Yamauchi said that the game they created is rather a game for the next generation of the PS3.
So, when technologies like the TeraDisk or HVD, where especially the HVD can save up to 3,2 Terabytes!
Kazunori brought the Blu Ray to it’s limits and we can assure, that when the next PlayStation comes out (probably with an HVD drive) Kazunori can put the game to it’s limits, with 1000 or more Premium cars and way more locations.
    The technology is just developing…

  74. PDD-NOX

I don’t recall where i read it. But more details will be reveiled at a european gameshow in Germany.
Then the release date for europe will be announced.

Hopefully more details, e.g. focussed on european players???

  75. Dim

I think the photo mode is quite useless for most users.

It’s an obsession of Kaz. It’s an OK feature (if you have included everything else) but they’ve probably wasted too much time and room for this rather than focusing on something more handy.

    1. TTownEP

I loved this mode before, and I just got into photography, so this sounds like an awesome way to help my skills. I actually loved hearing that it would be expanded.

  76. grr

well lets post our opinions here as I reckon what we say now will more than likely be features of the next GT if its not in GT5. So…
    YouTube style updloads-yes please
Full track and vehicle customisation-yes please
More major cities mapped for use in racing-yes please
    etc-yes please

  77. noname

Aaah I like that :) First i didnt understood what the photomode mode offered, but he explained it well nice there. Also good to see some of the developers actually leaven the cave and talk a little about the game ;-)

  78. nasanu

Its is probably the track editor that has dropped from view. But I want weather. Tracks made up by kids give nothing to the driving experience.

    GT needs:

Great physics: check (provided that stupid slipstream effect is gone)
    Great Graphics: check
    Night driving: check
    Damage: check
    Dynamic weather: ???
    Realistic tyres (degradation and temperature):???
    Realistic fuel:???
    Powerful online options: probably check
    Dirty lines in tracks:???
    Human like AI:???

    1. GTWelsh

It was said in the GT website that tire surface temp has been simulated to produce realistic tire smoke.

    2. Luke

GT4 already got fuel consumption. And i can very well imagine that it is pretty realistic. I have never driven Supra full throttle for half an hour to check if it`s realistic.
But tyre degradation and temperature would be nice. It`s something i think Forza really did right and innovative.

  79. Retrostate

Everyone seems to have forgotten the mention of PS move. we have heard nothing about this yet, unless i have missed something and it’s not happening

    1. Gamer GT5

Thats a good guess. I think they did mention about the ps move feature. They don’t know if they’ll implement that for GT5. I think thats what they said.

  80. tvensky

ok, I dont know what will be this major thing, but I do know that you PD need to add tyre skidmarks and even more real dust/smoke. I saw that there are some improvements on tarmac. but still on dusty roads.. when “you” drive a real car behind other in rally or somevere else.. I cant see a damn thing, and the dust dont fande away so fast and flying in the air for some time, and the next car driving past it hits air and hits away dust particals… so I want it to be this real! thanks! if not in GT5 make it in GT6.. for me this would be major feature :)

    1. Marcus

actually you are wrong. i go to a rally school were dust does linger. In fact the owner has to wet the course to stop the dust annoying neighbours

  81. rik

hehe just mean people today moaning about a game, which is truly amazing!! GT5…

thinking back when we were happy with sega rally….

and thankfull for kaz and the team, for the gt games..

  82. rik

I actually cannot wait for gt5, i dont know why people moan about this and that etc, just be thankfull for the game itself..

geez remember buying sega rally for the saturn, it only 3 cars..

  83. HARRY

im trying to think of possibilities nobody has said … maybe you could use your music stored on your ps3 during a race, but thats not really a big feature :/ or possibly the option to buy new cars from psn store??? who knows :|

    1. Gamer GT5

In one of his interviews Kaz already mentioned about music stored on the ps3 a while back. Hopefully we all will be suprised what Kaz is hiding from us.

  84. JustCause

That guy is confused lol. The first interview he said there will be a total of 950 cars and in the second interview he said over a thousand cars. Which is it?

  85. KilzoneStrife

For the record,in the Kaz twitter thing,he gets asked about weather.he says “rain etc…maybe” It wil be in :)

  86. Gtkiller

I think it’s tuning it’s one of the only things that’s in every gt game pd hasn’t talked about yet. I would love to hear how they’re going change tuning in gt5.

    1. Philmangt

hopefully you can change air fuel ratio for more power for sprint races/ more reliability in endurance races, of have different options as to which turbos to use (ex. bi-turbo, twin turbo, single) so you can choose he torque curve that is most suitable for any given race :)

  87. anominus

i used to be utterly dissapointed about the view thing, but now that i think about it, it will make us appreciate the cars with the cockpit view morem and it will be funner to drive them

  88. razgriz

ok, weather would be great, and i’m nearly sure its in the game…

but when we have full rules for nascar…
what about safey / intervention cars? that would be a cool feature…

another missing thing: how will race starts work?

and about red bull… listen to vettel…
    “hi, i’m sebastian vettel”
maybe its some kind of ingame-red bull driving academy?

    1. Marcus

yes i read an article that there is a driving academy for ‘gt begginers’. Safety car would be awesome especially if you can still control the throttle and bump it off the track

    2. Dylan

In GT PSP didn’t Leno do voiceovers for challenges and stuff? I imagine Vettel is going to be reading out certain license test briefings.

  89. ICEMAN_ZIDANE

yeah guys the new (online) features are really awesome
read the details on gt p and you will see

  90. Dim

BTW one of the greatest features I can think of would be the possibility that players can buy/sell their cars (and maybe even car parts?) online with other players in an ‘ebay’ kind of way.

This would be MAJOR, highly interesting and fun too.

  91. KilzoneStrife

Im going to be honest.Kaz is a perfectionist, apparently, who thinks youtube uploading, rewind function,a data logger 0,5% will use and 3D comes before an in car view.granted we still dont know if an interior view for standard cars are in or not… ,I an optimist..but I cant be this time.chances are there isnt.and PD shouldve focused on interiors before some other stuff

    1. gt3luke

i heard that the standard cars get some of black interieur just like the PSP version. But don’t know for sure.

    2. aelange

If the 800 standard cars get the blank standard interior ala gtpsp, that would be perfectly acceptable!
I didn’t know about the gtpsp interior view, and I think PD would be stupid not to implement that into GT5. It’s the least they can do and it supports the theory that EVERY CAR will have an interior view because essentially they do, detail on the other hand is another question, but like I said it would be perfectly acceptable to have the standard interior. For me that view helps me give the illusion that I’m driving something with a lot of weight, the bumper cam gives me none of that.

  92. Dom

Ok, what about Adrian Newey, Aerodynamics and F1 cars?
The E3 trailer showed a wind tunnel at the end. Maybe it’s the chance to create custom aerodynamic parts for cars or for certain (F1 like?) prototypes.

Rain could be another option, but I don’t think it’s likely due to the graphical restrictions of the PS3.

    1. Billy

What Graphical restrictions, now devs are realizing that the cell spu’s are great for graphical calculations ps3 graphics are stronger than ever. Do you know before ps3 was released there was to be no GPU all the graphics were to be done by the cell, but Sony decided to put in a GPU last minute to make it easier to develop for hence the original ps3 delay, now that developers are truly understanding the architecture of ps3 graphics will get better and better.

  93. Dim

guys let’s think about it logically:

    – Porsche?? Not a major feature. in fact it is not a feature. Just one more supercar constructor. it would be great to have Porsche but I do not think this is what they hide.

    – Customisation? GT4 had customization in a sense of part upgrades etc. so it will surely be the same with GT5. It will have more depth and options but car customization is not new either. Ths is not what could be hidden.

    – Track editor?? not likely. I believe today’s games are so complicated and detailed it would be impossible for the simple user to create a track. Kaz would not want his highly detailed cars be driven in highly undetailed/bland tracks . Just my hymble opinion of course..

    – Rain & Weather: I am almost certain, that if they do indeed hide a ‘major’ feature it has to be the weather. The guy above who noticed the black raindrops in the official E3 video was spot-on (I hadn’t noticed them until i read his post). Surely this is a hint.
It is obvious weather is missing from such a quality driving simulation game.
F1 2010 seems to have nailed weather perfectly (at least in terms of graphics) so it is unthinkable that Kaz has left this out after 5 years of development.

    1. SEIDO463

I’m thinking it’s weather. The track and weather conditions have always been displayed in GT5P and now we know that time syncing is an option…

Another game I just bought,SBK:X, it has dynamic weather with a DRY LINE that appears during the race…

I’m crossing my fingers it’s weather.

    2. JesseDeya

Dim: “- Rain & Weather: I am almost certain, that if they do indeed hide a ‘major’ feature it has to be the weather. The guy above who noticed the black raindrops in the official E3 video was spot-on (I hadn’t noticed them until i read his post). Surely this is a hint.

Thank you ;) I’m surprised I’ve seen no one else comment on this ‘black rain’ but it seems pretty obvious when you think about it. I totally agree with everything you have said by the way. A small point, Kaz has already said in the Twitter feed that “Customization in GT5 will be better than GT4.” so yeah I doubt this is the undisclosed feature.

If it IS weather, I don’t think PD will have the track dynamics as high fidelity as Codemasters with F1 2010 (ie: drying line, pools of water etc), but I do think it will look as gorgeous (moreso). Just have a look at how they have the brake and headlights interacting with dust and tyre smoke and you can easily imagine the same for rain and rooster tails.

    3. TTownEP

I agree about the track editor. IMHO, it’s a terrible idea. LittleBigPlanet this is not. People would be making jumps and crazy stuff and we just now found out that the cars can roll over. I think it would really take away from the serious/reverent vision KY has for this series.

    4. haas599

The PD rep said his favorite feature is undisclosed.

Its more likely to me that his favorite feature is tuning/customising his car.

I dont see rain as being this guys favorite feature. I hope dynamic weather will be in the game and I would like it, but to me, he is refering to customisation

    5. BWX

I think it’s weather too. Think about how important weather is in real racing, not just either rain or sun, but temperature differences make a huge difference in the way your car performs. Dynamic weather would be sweet but necessarily needed. Just having different conditions to race in would be cool.

  94. blackjack

I’d like to think he could be talking about the possibility of an online race feature which lets you race for “slips”. 2 player battles where the winner gets to keep the losers car could make things very interesting indeed.

  95. SEIDO463

For the usual GT world menu in all GT games, how about in GT5 that menu becomes an actual location.
You choose the car you want, then for example, if you want upgrades/wash/car dealer or license centre then you have to drive it to that place (just close by and could be an option) and it could be linked to your local time.

    1. Philmangt

i always thought that would be a fantastic idea since gt3. like the menu would be like a small city grid layout. and the car wash, licence center, etc youd have to drive here and there. obviously not too far cuz people would complain of the time it would take to do that.

  96. Justin

Hopefully a livery editor. It would be 100X more useful than weather as it will actually add something to every race, not just on occasion.

  97. It should be...

a big sandbox style city. Something like Midnight Club’s LA, or Burnout’s Paradise City, only it would have ridiculous GT graphics, the awesome GT physics, and over 1000 of our favorite cars.

Imagine 16 of your friends just messing around in an open city. Being able to speed through a little urban neighborhood, or dart around the city streets, or go roaring down the highway.

I personally would love to know what it feels like to drive an audi r15 prototype car around the streets of NYC, or take my real life car, my mkv gti, and go wide open throttle through an urban development and not worry about my clean driving record.

I’ve always thought an open sandbox with GT physics and a nice wheel would be awesome. Maybe this is their surprise? Maybe it’s something else. Nobody’s really suggested it so I doubt it, but something to consider for GT6. eh?

    1. GTWelsh

Epic idea, would be an amazing feature, maybe with normal AI cars to act as trafic, to dodge, could be used in photomode to ;)

    2. Philmangt

just..NO! horrible idea. you know what driving an r15 prototype would be like? imagine driving 15 mph just so not to scrape the bottom of the car on all the uneven road surfaces and speed bumps. in fact,a speed bump at 25 mph might feel like ur breaking your spine.. enjoy that…

  98. no rewind or gimmicks

plz no rewind feature, im sure polyphony will release the game and everyone will like it. ive enjoyed all the gran turismos on psx and ps2 and ps3 havent played the psp one. i know i will enjoy this one when it hits the shelves.

  99. KilzoneStrife

..rewind feature.honestly,PD,you spent too much time on the wrong stuff.Forza had rewind feature, they stole it from Grid, but if it took up time that made other things suffer, then it was a waste.3 D is a waste.

  100. Bernd

What bothers me, is that there is little dust, even when only one or two cars are racing. We had more dust in GT4 :-(

  101. Bernd

Don’t forget, there’s Gamescom in August anf finally TGS end of September. Bet, they’re hiding some sensations for us

  102. GT_Prologue5

I hope it’s not rewind. WHen I owned NASCAR 08, the rewind made it so easy I couldn’t stand the game. Then again, I never could stand NASCAR.

  103. Chad.D

whatever it is, i think they’re saving it for somewhere in august, september, or october, to keep us interested, or draw a larger audience, who knows, all i know is that i cant wait to figure out what it is, i’m hoping for customization, that or something along those lines

  104. ag

Rewind feature would be convenient, but I don’t think it’s necessary in a sim game. If you mess up a corner, you should pay for it.

I too think it has something to do with the tuning/customization.

    We’ll see!

    1. GasolineJunkie

I think the whole rewind feature would be awesome to use in practice mode. So if you’re having trouble grasping a particular section of a track at full speed, you don’t have to do another lap to get to that one section.
It’s not something that I’ll cry about if it’s not in the game though.

  105. PS3 Jumbo

I heard a while back the talk of head tracking for cockpit view, probably not it, but would be cool, especially combined with 3d tv.

    1. Cletis Cassidy

Coming from a guy whose id is gtr nissan, it’s kind of funny, but porsche WOULD be great. I’m suprised porsche hasn’t jumped on the GT bandwagon after ferrari and lambo… God forbid they remain loyal to Forza ugh.

    1. Marcus

yeah but that would take some of the challenge out of the game. I would like to see a car olympics. E.g 1000 meters were you have limited fuel so you can go flat out and run out or slow and finish the race.

  106. TTownEP

Maybe it’s just me, but it sounded like he was just being funny and didn’t want to disclose his favorite part of the game, not that his favorite part is a secret that we don’t know about.

But if it is, I think they could totally hide a kick-ass customization feature from us until we get close. I am REALLY hoping we get some cool features with that. This quick-tune crap doesn’t cut it. I couldn’t believe they cut out the Race Prep feature from GT2. I LOVED taking my car up from small mods and tuning up to a full face car with cool liveries. *Fingers crossed*

  107. gtp_viking

Mickle Pickle is correct. At the end of the e3 video, when you go frame by frame, it says CAREER MODE, RALLY, DRIFTING, CUSTIMISATION.

Only question is whether that is just cars, just tracks or both.

  108. AMG

premuim race on track 16 cars high poly,, standard race on track 40 low poly

    more then 200 premuim cars

    20 premuim high detailed track

800 standers cars an 50 standard track

career mode world tour ,carwasch , photomode, online ,costum

    and many unseen

    1. Bernd

Just wondering: If PS3 can handle 16 premium cars, should be easy, to handle 20 or even more standard ???

    2. danielwhite74

Bernd, the PS3 could handle over 100 Standard cars. They are essentially Gran Turismo 4 models which contain only 4000-6000 polygons each, while Premium cars contain upwards of half a million. It’s a vast, yawning chasm where level of detail is concerned.

    1. G

there was an interview with KY ages ago (and I mean ages) where he was being asked about gt5 they mentioned customisation and he replied with ‘yes there will be customisation, it will be detailed that it will effect the aerodyanics of the car’ so there will be external customising… be it full on body kits or those random huge wings and 14″ alloy wheels from gt past. hope that helps… if you need to see the vid it will prob be on this site or def on you tube.

  109. iucidium

    Social integration?? (youtube, facebook)
Race calendars?? Lemans, VLN 24 etc
    Replay editor??
    weather same as track location??
    Those are my guesses

  110. SEIDO463

@Jordan, totally agree with ya man. So many posts go right off track all round the net.

They could announce a weather feature. As the time of day syncing is already a feature.
I would love to weather in this game..

  111. JimInPT

I’m just hoping this undisclosed feature is useful, beautiful and not some junky stuff like rims, nitrous, backwards hats and other lowlifey junk that belongs in the lowlifey games.

If they’re running low on disc space, they could delete drifting, too.

    1. Retrostate

pahaha (don’t agree that drifting should be cut tho… especially as it is a japanese game and drift is a big part of their car culture)

  112. George Washington

Screw the wind tunnel, I want a tunnel that I can drive up the walls and onto the ceiling of, to test the downforce like Schumacher does for Mercedes.

  113. motortrend

Isn’t there a possibility that there is no undisclosed feature and he just wanted to be funny and not say his favorite feature?

  114. Chris

did they already confirm weather? it seems to have been forgotten…

also, track editor has been rumored and mostly forgotten, gotta keep hoping!

    1. Jackc_2001

no! i did not forget weather! haha

PD and Sony: PLEASE! put the weather system into the game please!!!

    2. JesseDeya

It’s almost certainly WEATHER if you ask me.

We’ve seen some beautiful light interaction with dust and smoke, so why not rain and spray?

Also, am I the only person who noticed ****THE RAIN DROPS**** in black and white at the start of the E3 video? That HAD to be a clue, surely!

    3. Marcus

Personally i think this feature won’t be something previosuly mentioned. Maybe a car football mode. Well it would fit in with the world cup.

    4. Jack

Yeah, I think it’s weather/rain. It’s been hinted at, talked about, recently answered as “maybe” by Kaz in his lasted interview… gotta be the weather system.

I wonder do we have to start off with the standard cars first before we use the premium cars? I guess 200 cars is enough for me. Some of the cars from GT4 was on GT5 i wonder will they be part of the premium or standard cars. Hopefully all the premium cars won’t be just super cars and race cars. If so I’ll still enjoy this game.

    1. tvensky

its enough maybe for you.. but for me there are some particular cars I want to drive, with or without interior.. period :)

  116. terminator363

I think Mickle Pickle is right but we don’t know what the customization is! It could be from cars to race tracks to anything else related to the game, all we can do now is wait for the game and check out new news stuff. :D

    1. Gamer GT5

Remember on GT5 prologue when they had “Concept by Gran Turismo ” the tune ups we all noticed there were custom seats, tires, wheels etc. And I’m sure we all may be able to customize these kind of parts for our cars. I also think thats what they’re hiding from us.

  117. Frozzy

If they keep “Standard” cars out of GT mode or scrapping them away from Gran Turismo 5.

That’s what the news I want to hear.

  118. Mickle Pickle

Here is yet another round of getting our hopes up!

But seriously: if you guys slow motion down the E3 GT5 new trailer, at the very end, one or two frame right before it says “your PS3 can do Everything”, right before it, pause it and you will see the word: “customisation”

During regular playback, it goes way too fast for the naked eye to capture it, but slow it down frame by frame, especially the HD version, you will see it… I think that’s why they are still hiding from us.

  119. caasimun

OMG…I JUST GOT ANOTHER BRILLIANT IDEA….IF I CAN UPLOAD REPLAY ON YOUTUBE THROUGH GT5, I WILL MAKE MY OWN VIRTUAL TOP GEAR EPISODES…XD OMFG

    1. gamer28

Actually, I remember in an interview a few months ago that Kaz mentioned that you will be able to upload your own videos straight from the game! so be happy haha

    2. snaketus

W00t! That’s original idea, you know 50 million people going to do same? Just try to figure out something really original. Or you have to be awesome driver, actually beating Stig’s times or show off drifting. No one cares to watch random dude spinning out at Top Gear Test Track.

    3. UCLA'09

Gamer28 is right. They PD has already announced some time ago that you will be able to upload videos straight to youtube.

  120. MSTR34

Awesome vids can’t wait for November. One thing thought, check out in the second video at 54 seconds, the rim of the car glitches a bit.

  121. haas599

Its the amount of customization you can do. It wasnt talked about during E3 and its gonna be a major feature of the game.

  122. r1racer

people keep complaining about the lack of interiors in 800 cars, but honestly how many of these cars will you use? you buying to game to drive or just check out the scenery, car interiors or damage, if u want damage so bad, buy burnout paradise or something. i sure as hell will be waiting in line november 2nd. Bunch of cry babies, make your own game and see if you can do a better job.

    1. snaketus

The point is if you like driving in cockpit view and get used to it in premium cars and have driven in it since gt5p and few other games, what’s the point of all those 800 cars? I really hope they introduce working hood view on every car in GT5. If so maybe we cockpit drivers can go back to that. But if so then I’m not going to use these super high detailed cockpits on premium models either, pity.

    1. Shokz

Just like they say eyeraq >.< I also just heard someone say eyetalian in a video… So do they say eyetaly? That just sounds so ridiculously wrong i can't believe it…

I think Americans are just having us on and whilst the rest of the world isn't watching they actually talk normally ;)

  123. ExclusivesMostly

@Joe: I hear you but I’d rather have 200+ premium cars as opposed to waiting 3 more years or so. PD models the cars capturing the smallest details. Naturally this takes a long time.
Good news though: I saw over on PS Blog in a comment from Jeff that the game has over 40 tracks with over 100 layouts. So let’s just all enjoy it for the masterpiece it is.

  124. RE515TANT

In the second video, you can see in the interiors of the cars (helmets, roll cage, dash elements, etc) and there are 16 cars on track at once.

Atleast we can be sure of one uncertainty: there will still be 16 on track as promised.

    1. [UK] ANDYW

Having a ported gt4 full game within gt5 using the new engine would be awesome, and an economical reuse of existing assets/code.. i can only hope :-)

  125. CeeJay

“undisclosed” like how they left undisclosed the downgraded standard cars of GT5 from press releases and pictures for the past few years? :/

    1. daus26

Technically we already knew about the standard, premium thing but many of us were in denial and kept being optimistic and interpreting “interior” as under the bonnet/hood and what not. We knew about it since TGS of last year, really.

    1. GT_Nige

Lachlan, make sure your facts are right before insulting peoples intelligence.

Nothing has been announced or confirmed about anywhere other than America and Latin America.

    1. Ddag

I think we should be taking the none premium cars without interiors as a bonus on top of the premium cars. Let’s be fair, we could never expect them to round up that many cars and capture them in that kind of detail AND have the game released sometime in this century. Not to mention the space constraints.

    1. ADR_XCLUTCH

      GUYS PLEASE READ THIS COMMENT!!

GTPlanet made a mistake. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT GT5′S STANDARD CARS WILL HAVE NO INTERIORS. EVERY CAR IN GT5 ,STANDARD AND PREMUIM, WILL HAVE INTERIORS. That means all of the 1000+ cars in Gran Turismo 5 will have interiors. The only difference between STANDARD cars and PREMIUM cars in GT5 is that the PREMUIM CARS WILL BE MORE DETAILS, DETAILED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PREMIUM CARS, WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE REGULAR HEADLIGHTS AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS, AND THE DAMAGE WILL BE MORE DETIALED AND PANELS WILL FALL OFF THE CARS. STANDARD CARS WILL NOT BE AS DETAILED AS PREMUIM CARS (BUT WILL STILL LOOK BETTER THAN ANY GAME ON THE CURRENT MARKET,) ONLY HAVE STANDARD HEADLIGHTS, AND THE DETIAL IN THE DAMAGE ON STANDARD CARS ARE MERELY SCRATCHES AND INDENTS.

Two of my team members played the E3 demo and were able to talk to some of the PD employees that made the game. My members got to drive both some premium and standard cars. They ALL HAVE INTERIORS.

@GTPlanet, please do more research before you throw something like this out. This sturd up alot of confusion this week. PLEASE INFORM THAT THIS ARTICLE WAS INCORRECT AND TELL THEM THE SPECIFIC FEATURES GT5 WILL DEFINENTLY HAVE. I’m not offending anyone. Im just saying that this could mislead ALOT of people.

    2. Erik

      @ ADR_XLUTCH

It doesn’t say anywhere that GT5 won’t have guns either. SO INFORM EVERYONE THAT GUNS WILL BE IN THE GAME! OH MY GOD!

    3. Jordan

@ADR_XCLUTCH: You might want to check on the reliability of your “team members”. As you can see here, only Premium cars were included in the E3 2010 demo.

    4. anominus

but jordan: if only premium cars where in the e3 demo then how come in the standard cars trailer it shows a corvette stingray, (i think) with blacked out windows meaning its a standard……wasnt this car in the e3 demo?

    5. JBO

Okay Mr. Jordan, ask yourself this question: ” why does the camaro in the e3 demo have an interior and the camaro in the standard car video have black windshields.?”….extremely confusing. The same goes for the corvette..Kaz n his team are very confusing or is that his translations have not been clear??

    6. aelange

I’m still trying to figure out if only Premium cars have interior, are those cheap Daihatsus and Suzukis in GT5P considered Premium, too? They have interiors…

    7. Apollo

      @ADR_XCLUTCH:

First of all please don’t use caps that much as it is generally considered rude.

And as much as I want to believe you, every official statement PD has made they’ve said that Standard cars don’t have interiors which I personally believe that it’s misleading, and your team members whose names are undisclosed are not a reliable source.

    8. ADR_XCLUTCH

@ Erik. This is a racing game man. Don’t use irrellevent examples to prove a point. I am just stated that GT5 will have cockpits in every car. PD have never stated that 800 cars in GT5 will not have interiors. From what we have read and seen over the passed 5 years it’s pretty ludacris to state 800 cars will not have interiors.

So using your example I guess Jordan’s statement was pure opinion? I can see why he stated GT5’s standard cars will not have cockpit views. Because the windows were black in the cars in the trailer of standard cars. But The demo did have a camaro with an interior view and in with that same car in the trailer, the windows were black. I honestly think EVERYONE should buy this game regardless, but I also think people shouldnt rush to conclusions such as this.

    9. FlareKR

      @ Erik
OMGZ GUNZ!?!?!? R U SERIOUZ!?! NOW I WONTZ HAZ TO BUYZ TWISTED METALZ FORZ PS3Z!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOZLOZLZOLZO
But seriously, I’m still trying to frickin’ clarify weather or not standard cars will have interiors. All these days at E3 and nobody has asked these questions? Someone needs to send a true GT5 fanboy from our forums to clear this up!

    10. deathking23

      @ ADR_XCLUTCH
But didnt Kazunori Yamauchi say in the twitter conversation that standard cars will have a black frame cocpit view? like in the psp version
