Polyphony Digital has announced a new special Time Trial Challenge Seasonal Event, which will go live on Monday, November 21 at 12:01 PST.
For participating, players will receive a special Nissan GT-R Spec V, as seen above. If it looks familiar, that’s probably because you likely already have it sitting on your desk or bookshelf – it’s the exact same Kyosho die-cast GT-R Spec V that was included in the Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition.
It should be noted this has only been announced on Polyphony Digital’s North American website, so European and Asian players would be safe to assume the event and car will not be available in those regions. Thanks to MrMulsanne for the early tip!
UPDATE: The GT Facebook page has now confirmed this event will be available world-wide.

I’m so happy to finally get the GT Academy Special. It gives me hope that I can someday get the RDI 10 Stealth and the 787b Stealth and the Jaguar XJ13 Chrome Line. Then I can complete my collect of 1 of every car in the game XD

same here,GTP_DHolland has a 1:32.199 but he’s on euro leaderboards.There are 2 different leaderboards.Ive got down to a 34.577.Have to be smooth.I look at the replay IN-CAR view and watch the steering inputs.gotta be smooth.

Got the GT-R SpecV today. Weird, as it comes to you in a ticket. I wonder if you can gift the ticket to a friend (probably not), as I have not redeemed it yet.
That aside, this event was very enjoyable. I never actually realized how stable of a car the GT-R SpecV really is. Thank you PD for such an enjoyable event!

tika go do the sound option select large theatre, add some bass. GT5 do not sound like a vacuum cleaner. GT5 was developed to maximize the use of a good sound system.
Don’t tell anyone, but this is a secret that kaz told me…..this is actually a dbr9 gulf Gt1 race car with a Nissan R35 body shell on top. It appears when you take it to the car wash. Hee hee shhhh!
I have the car; it’s pretty good for handling. Not that bad of a car in my opinion.
Although I do agree I would like to see some different types of cars than just Skylines. There’s more versions of those than we can count.
Though I’m not going to press it on PD, because I know IT TAKES TIME to develop stuff….yes, I’m talking to everyone that keeps nagging PD for stuff, give them some time…

Okay… I’ll accept any free cars, but the Nissan GT-R is getting a bit over used by now, and soon (maybe with the next uninterrupted 3-5 GT-R’s) they’re going to bore me. If they still add Nissans, can they NOT be GT-R’s please? how the Z-Series, like the classics – there aren’t any Premium classic 240Z’s in the dealership, and how about the GT Academy Z’s? would’t those work? And how about some Nissan LMP’s that Lucas Ordinez uses? Theres only really 2 different kinds of modern Premium LMP cars in the dealership, why not add more of those? We need more High-Performance racing car models anyways…
While there is differences between different models, I do think 1 or 2 version of a car is enough, Take the Skylines for example. I think if you have the GT-S and GT-R of each model thats more than enough, we dont really need the Euro spec, JDM spec, Nurb II etc because its just a bit over kill for no gain.
There is a lot of moaning on here, and it’s good in that PD have some constructive criticism and feedback to use. Will gladly take any free car with appreciation, but please can there be some more variety in the future. Thanks Kaz.

Not sure if your statement is correct because it says it’s a seasonal event and the car is the prize. Last time they gave this car out in a seasonal event you got the car for doing two clean laps on in a row. And it was free and it will be free this time too.

Why are people complaining about a free giveaway like this? Either they are whining about exclusivity or something else that isn’t even negotiable. I appreciate everything PD is trying to do up until this upcoming holiday season. People should stop complaining about these kinds of things and take what is given to you…

No one is forcing you to, but because the words “free” and “car” are brought about, it creates these varieties of people who just want to take everything for granted. Well just look at how excited everybody was for the first DLC even thow it was basically all Japanese cars PD did the lease expected and put in spa and blew everybody’s mind…so even thow they put all these Japanese cars there still unpridictable..some of these guys shoold be happy this game is not like NFS Shift that only had like 1 dlc.i still love the game and who knows there probably keeping us distracted with this event and car while they make more dlc :)
I would like to see alot of the current manufacturer licenses added to, like more Aston’s, DB4 GT Zagato, DB5, DB7 Zagato, V8 Vantage and more Ferrari’s, 250 GTO, 250 GTO SWB, 288 GTO, Dino. What i would dearly love to see would be a Wiegart Vector W2, W8 and M12. Another awesome machine i would love to see would be a De Tomaso Pantera GTS and GT5.

You guys don’t get it, do you? The reason the majority of the cars are Japanese is because its easier to get licenses for them. And remember how GT1 and GT2 introduced a lot of Japanese cars to Americans? There wasn’t a lot of non-Japanese cars then, so don’t expect a sudden flood of foreign cars. Even the photo mode locations is mainly in Japan. Its harder to get licenses for, say, Chrysler or Venturi(remember this?). And come on guys, PD isn’t making you pay for it. Its just a car being re-released again. You guys should stop whining. I want more cars too, but expect them to be mostly Japanese.
Slightly off topic but It’s ok them giving us new cars (i’d prefer ones we haven’t had before and different car companys)and dlc but if I buy the next dlc and it comes with another 100 paints then I’m not going to be able to have them unless they remove this 7000 items limit that is definitely becoming a problem now especially if there’s gonna be dlc every two months.

This is the general consensus of the gt5 players and as owners of a copy of gt5 they have a right to voice their opinion of the gtr dlc. Anyone who believes these people’s complaints are unwarranted will not have their way, as there will always be people asking for different cars.
Don’t get us wrong: most of us love nissan, we just want to see a variety of newer cars added.

I don´t understand the strategy of PD here. Why are they offering cars coming with GT5-special editions? If I really wanted them, I would have bought any of the collections. But reusing them now like having nothing more to show, makes no sense for me.
I understand that this car was not part of any special edition. The special edition only contained a mini sized model of the car. It was not featured in the game
Firstly…. I agree with u Big ron. I bought signature edition when it 1st came out. I didn’t get it just because of the stealths and chromes. The USB, Keyring, Wallet, Obsidian black Box, SLS Model, books etc etc are all handy and nice. But these extra cars where part of the package and some where availbale through pre-order. I got no probs with that. But for these to be given out because of some mistake or wotever in america leaves me bit a disappointed.
Secondly… This GTR was 1st available in Europe earlier this year. It was given out if u took part in europes GT Academy. I’m not bothered that its available again. A few of my non-european friends wanted this car but couldn’t get it. Hopefully they might do the same with the Edge Camaro or 370 GT Academy car? Ones that i can’t get.
Another point slightly off topic. My GT5 USB stick decided to write protect itself. So now its pretty much useless. If anyone has any solutions i would be grateful.

To get the actual GT academy car you need to get god in all special licence tests. Its a stock V-spec with GT academy stickers on the bonnet and sides.

I’m sorry, but there are just too many cars that have been left out of this game to have another GT-R. I understand the purpose and importance of every one, but I simply don’t understand how they extreme bias for Asian cars has made its way into a game as well respected as Gran Turismo, 3 Prius premiums, and 1 Aston Martin premium… Really?
The car was already in the game, they are just releasing it in other regions.
Dont see why people are mad. Besides being free its a car it has been sittting on all hard drives since April. Its not new at all its just unlocking previous country exclusive content. I have wanted the car for a while and assume others may want the in-game car of the diecast they own. Hope they make the sls in the signature edition too.
Hope the chromeline xj13 is released in the North America region as Europe and Japan have had a chance to get this car and we have not.The stealth 787b and r10 would be nice too but I just doubt all 3 right now.

You all should be greatful for having such a great game that has a big variety in vehicles, a game that has been called a simulator because of the physics it has. If your game has so many new cars, you must be playing FM4. Check whether your console says Sony or Microsoft. If it says Microsoft, that would explain why you see so many new cars.

Let’s get real now, I don’t care how many new cars pd gave us, there is a difference between quantity and variety. Fm4 has much better quality new cars. And they are set up in a way that you can have even races. Gt5 is so jumbled it’s a headache getting an even race unless you’re doing gt500 pr NASCAR. That being said, I love the game and play it every day. But to deny his point just doesn’t make sense. Gt5 has much room for improvement. At this point ONLY the physics set this game apart as exceptional. The content is all numbers low variety.

The Trans Cammer, the Art Morrison Vette. How about the two new RX7s from RE Amemiya? What about Lamborghini and Ferrari! Brand new to the GT series (exception of the NOMAD Diablo). The two FT86 “Supra” Concept cars? People complain about all this,

The point is the global balance of the game. Why offering so many versions of Skylines GT-R or MX5 or NASCAR while so many iconic rides are missing?
I liked the interview Jordan did because it stresses Kaz’ fear of introspection. For sure positive critics are always a cheer, but if so many people complain about the diversity of the cars, why not facing the problem on earnest? He said the reason why they didn’t modelize the Veyron or Ruf in premium was a matter of time, not a matter of choice.
I strongly disagree with that statement. At the first stage of development, they had a list of 1000 cars to CHOOSE from. It would be pure amateurism to say they did it randomly; and there is no amateur at PD.
GT5 actually reveals its weakness in terms of project and priority management. Focusing on detail features while basic functions are missing is another example. I would like GT fanboys to hold their horses; I’m no teenage turd whining washout GT5 while playing Forza 4; I have no Xbox and played all GT games. My point is that we entered a new era in video games, where developers have the possibility to polish their games afterwards. To me it’s a great opportunity to make a legendary game out of GT5. But oh, GT6 is already in the back mirror…
Let us hope they will learn from GT5 mistakes!
I totally agree with you fureddo – the biggest drawback it seems is the fact that PD are too hooked on details and have some glaring issues with project management and overall vision. You need to start with a global view and then narrow down to the details, however I get the feeling that PD always starts off with what they can do with “one car” and then expand upon that capability, working from the inside OUT, instead of the outside IN.
Let’s hope that GT6 isn’t far off the horizon.

yeah. I think if I were Nissan’s marketing guy or another manufacturer’s investing in GT5. I would be careful of over exposure of your Brand, especially in this arena. Seems like over saturation swings sentiment the other way. Of course the fan boys won’t cry, but they already love the GTR. It’s the rest of us on the fence or indifferent being turned off by the ramming of it down our throat. I know I am sick of GTR’s in GT5 as additional content, Starts to make you kind of resent them, especially when so many great cars are missing.

If you flip it over, and it says Kyosho, the spring is at the next corner, the wheel is at the starting line, and the car is on fire. My experience with every fricken Kyosho RC car.

I feel like the only part of this game that is new are the Premium cars and some of the tracks. I actually preferred some of the original tracks the way they were in previous GT’s. High Speed ring seems so wide and open now. Especially compared to the GT1 version. Does anyone remember the GT1 version of HSR? I loved it.

Even the premiums have more of that single car then any other car. Gtr 07, gtr proto, gtr black mask, gtr vspec. Should I mention all the gtr race cars that are premium as well? GT-r is a great car sure, but it’s really over kill when you look at the lack of…well everything else. I do enjoy driving the gtr on occasion however, it is a great car no matter how much it’s showed down our throats. I’d just like to see more of my favorites, some BMW’s.

Not everyone in Europe got it… Only the countries with the most population.
So, me coming from little Norway, didn’t get it.

Gran Turismo 5 players will be able to compete in a special Time Trial Challenge seasonal event, which will unlock a bonus car for use in other modes of the game.

The hell is wrong with you, I’ve been racing Mini-Zs for well over a year now and still have my original body and have broken no chassis parts save my original T-Plate at one of my most recent races in a freak head on after wall contact. Very cheap and easy repair and I was running good as new.
My NSX body is pretty beat up and I plan to replace it when the Takata Dome 2002 NSX reissue comes out, but it’s still totally driveable. All the serious damage to the body came from very severe, hard crashes and my chassis has never been damaged in the slightest. We must have very different definitions of “fender bender.”
It’s worth mentioning that I also have one of the new Mini-Z buggies and have beaten the living hell out of it off roading. I only started having stuff break on it once I replaced the motor with the most stupidly powerful thing available at our shop, and that was only because the stock components were never designed to work with anything that excessive. Upgrading to something reasonable would have caused no problems whatsoever (but holy god this new motor is fun).
I really hope this comes to Europe and Asia aswell!

Why not more formula one cars besides Ferrari, like red bull and mclearn and lotus, we have every NASCAR in the game for the red necks and hill Billy’s. Why not more F1 cars for us more civilized people.
Calm down, think about where Kaz lives and then try to understand why he would put Japanese automobiles in his game. I would also like to see a number of cars not in the game but seriously, you do realize to put more F1 cars in the game there would be a fee which would have to be paid in order to do so. They have every NASCAR in the game because those royalties were paid and figured into the cost of development. The car is free, don’t want it then don’t download it.

@Taunto_Svt The reason there aren’t any more F1 cars in the game is because Bernie Ecclestone is an idiot and won’t let PD put them in. Bernie (and the FIA, who organizes F1) owns the licensing rights to every team in the sport except for Ferrari, who owns their own rights. Maybe Bernie will see reason in time for GT6, but we won’t be seeing F1 cars in GT5. As for the others, you can rest assured that PD asked all of those as well, but they turned them down for their own reasons.

Why do people always say look where yamauchi san lives? He lives in Tokyo, which has a extremely high concentration of ALL types cars, it does not matter if it’s american, European or anything, you will see it in Tokyo, it’s basically car city. And i think everybody knows that, i mean for example they have huge push rod V8 muscle car clubs all over the place and not to mention all the american, European and Asian-non Japanese brands sold there as well. saying just because he lives in Tokyo is no excuse it’s not like he lives in a 3rd world country with only Nissan cars driving around.

I understand what your saying but you have to take into account their culture which is highly supportive of home made products. I guess someone should ask Kaz himself why he didn’t add more American cars and others. I honestly don’t know what Tokyo is like but I do know most Japanese people buy Japanese made products. I also know that there is a 15% to 25% sales tax (which goes to Japanese auto makers) on all import cars sold there which puts import cars out of most people’s price range.

I/we understand Kaz is from Japan, but are you saying Japan is that close minded in the world of racing? I beg to differ sir those people are HUGE into racing and that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t add more “race cars” into GT5 instead of BS cars that no one will be touching, like the Nissan Cube and other 30hp cars that no one has ever heard of before.
I’m tired of seeing only JDM’s in my used dealership, I want some more variety and I agree 100% with madracers list of cars that NEED to be in this car.

Bad News Folks!!! This “New Spec-V GT-R” is the same one that we have won in Nissan Time Trial about 6 months ago. Neither paint or spec is different…Nice try PD but it still MEDIOCRE!!!!!!!!
I STRONGLY AGREE WITH MADRACER those are the exact cars that should be added, and just straight up add them free because when I spent a bunch money on the game to have the game, not a partial version! I mean why the hell can I not even race mod my Italia or anything and why the hell am I racing a crappy 4 hour Mazda roadster endurance race at little Jap Tsukuba again instead of running the Rolex 24 at Daytona? It’s things like that!!!! It’s ni even like the GT-R is the best car, IT’S NOT EVEN SPECIAL, it should be on the game but I shouldn’t have 70 of them!!!!! Give me go Le Mans GT cars and prototypes, FREE BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE FULL GAME, and stop givin me Jap crap!!!! The don’t even add good ones like the Nissian LMP2 car the GT Academy winner drivers, or even give me Nissian’s lmp1 for next year but no more Jap touring cars!!!!!!
This is clearly an endless debate, but I’ll throw my two-cents in. Yes, Kaz and the gang are based, and live in Japan which makes it obvious that there my be a strong Japanese bias in the cars. I think that they’ve made their point already. There is a LOT of GT-R’s skylines, imprezza’s and the sort. If people are complaining about the licensing issues, I don’t really know what you’re talking about. There ARE ferrari’s, lambo’s, audi’s, mercs and bimmers in the game already, so I’m pretty sure they have licenses… It’s ultimately up to them, but I’m pretty sure they would get positive feedback if they threw in some more variety to the future DLC’s.
