Trial Mt looks lush! Just curious as to why the Citroen GT is backfiring left right and center, when I’m pretty sure it’s electric?! It certainly sounds electric on the vids of it at Le mans.
Can’t get anytime off work, but it’s being released on a national holiday here in Japan (3rd) , so I can go and pick it up at midnight on the 2nd and get about 20 hours or so of straight driving I hope!

    1. Bernd

You’re right, it looks ugly, especiallly the front-wheels. But I hope, it can be fixed by lowering the body to the min-position

  2. Polly

So I spelt something wrong so what , I make up for it on online racing plus I make a bit ov money out ov it , so who’s the winner there then !

  3. fredyellowone

    My dream is that :

Kaz wait for 1 week before the official release of GT5 and come right here, on GTplanet posts, and say :

“actually, we did manage to get interior view for every single car. Thus, theres is no standard cars anymore.”

Well, i know this won’t happen but hey! A man can dream!

I will be happy if at least every standard car gave hood view. Do we know something about this?

  4. xSTRAIGHTEDGEx

    @Mr Frappy

You are so bitchy & ignorant and a dxck

Its not cool being “mean” on the internet

I bet your so old & yet sad that ypu’re inmature.

    1. Mr Frappy

Wow, is it possible for anybody to write in such a manner and claim to actually have a job to take time off from?

      1. Only 20% (ish) of the cars will have interiors. Get over it.
      2. Which cars in Prologue were not “prem” as you say?
      3. Nobody cares that you have a seat with one of the cheaper wheels and a small 50″ normal resolution TV.
      4. Go back to school and learn to articulate sentences with good grammar.

    2. Bernd

MrFrappy, would you be so kind and show us some of your flawless abilities when it comes to writing in another than your motherlanguage :-P

  7. Craigles

I hope it takes ages and ages for the ps4. Not that i dont want it. But think of the cost i certainly cant afford anything else big at the momment.

Plus it really isnt nesessaey think of all the extra things we can add to the ps3 still and also new equipment.

  8. Craigles

Oh oh oh i found some i found some woo hu.

Go onto youtube and type in ‘gt5 weather’ and you should see some of the ones above. (if you are having trouble withthe vids above)

Still anoyed about waiting so long to see them although im more anoyed about waiting 5 years for this game but im sure its worth the wait

  9. Wuestenmaus

Even if these are good news, Live for Speed is still a class of its own (and Iracing as well). You have much more problems there to lap a good time even with a world record setup for a specific track. In Gran Turismo, it is way too easy to drive good if you have a good setup.

    1. Zathra5_

I disagree. I have both LFS and GT5 and get similar times (as a percentage of world record time) in both. If anything in LFS it is actually easier to stop a spin. Also remember the LFS physics completely fell apart when they tried to implement real cars.

  10. Gt5anticip8r

What’s really cool about all this is that GT6 can now be a simple evolution, even an add-on. GT5 is more of a revolution, given the new platform and everything-hence the long development times

    1. Paulo

GT5 is the groundwork for the next iteration of the series. Soon all cars will have the same premium detail, all tracks will be rebuilt from new. This is the beginning and its looking amazing! PD know what they are doing, and they do it right, no corner cutting.

  11. jasr73

Definitely at that point again where some software builds have begun over take the capacity of the some of the hardware components. Surprising SCE didn’t make the RAM upgradable given the reported 3Bil they spent on dev for the original PS3 or perhaps even upgraded it with the release of the Slim version, not to mention had a look at life left in the current RSX graphics processor.
    Are you listening SCE?

  12. James

I have been watching these night racing videos and it got me to wondering if the appropriate cars will be equipped with HID/Bi-xenon head lamps such as the Bmw’s and other luxury cars?Or do you think they will all have “standard” headlamps?

  13. BWX

The PS3 would be SO much better if it just had a couple GB more RAM (G-ram).. Imagine smoke and mist that actually hung in the air just as long as real life, or skidmarks that never went away for the entire race.. or headlights for 16 cars at a time, or 25, maybe 30 cars on one track. Stuff like that would be possible with a whole bunch more RAM onboard. I guess we wait for the PS4 for those types of effects. I bet the GFX on the PS4 are going to be silly.

  14. jasr73

Some great advancement here and like I’ve mentioned previously, I reckon what’s in production at the initial retail release will no doubt be built upon with further DLC. This game is likely to be quite a bit more organic in nature going forward than what we’ve seen with previous versions’.

There going to be some hard limits tho’ with even with smarter optimised code when you consider that the PS3’s memory architecture is using 512MB ‘at call’, shared between graphics and application use. This may offer some explanation as to why lighting and some of the weather effects (while definitely sensational enhancements) may have been throttled back a little. Whatever the outcome, like most of us, I’ll still trying to find a way to take a week of work for the release!

  15. mistamontiel

To GTPlanet key people, GET THIS ACROSS TO KZ !

I read somewhere here, the Hood camera has been thrown out ? Really ? GT4 FINALLY featured it and now in the GameTrailers vid, I think it did skip Hood and only had crappy Bumper camera. Feel free to email me, thanks much.

    1. Solidnads

Bumper cam is the best way to play the game imo, cant stand the hood or chase cams, interior is nice but i seem to get faster laps with Bumper cam.

This is the reason that i am not atall bothered about standard/premium interior views (or lack of).

  16. Vulcao

I hate sounding like a troll or a crying kid, but this is a place for discussion, so let me go ahead.

There’s one problem, which I think will be partially fixed until the release (“partially” due to hardware limitations): reflections. When I drive close to the rear of another car at night, I can easily see my headlights (their light at least) reflected on it. I mean the cars in the game should be “brighter”, they should reflect lights better. And that’s not a problem only on night races, it also happens in day races in GT5P.

It’s sad because PD IS able to make better reflections, as shown in trailers, but they can’t put it into the game because the PS3 can’t hold it. Maybe we can see better reflections on Photo Travel.

I’ll search a trailer that confirms what I’m saying and give you the link later.

    1. J-KiLLA24

i think it just hasn’t been confirmed yet. They’re probably going to surprise us with some premium cars that we never saw before also.

  17. lone_racer

That’s enough i said that’s enough head tracking pain customization oil changes >:[ that’s enough i wanna play gt5 i don’t want it to blow up my ps3

  18. 2fast3g

man these vids are bad ass visuals are gourges time is going 2 go by so much more slower till nov pd is going straight 2 the top again so much detail put in i have no words 2 describe what i do have 2 say is thanks so much jordan for putin up such a good website n for all the news n info u give us making this wait for gt5 easyer 2 handle thanks bro

  19. John Marine

Who can forget the people who complained of “24 Hours of Daylight” for Circuit de la Sarthe and the Nürburgring in GT4? This is going to be an amazing experience. I certainly can’t wait to race GT and prototype cars at night at Le Mans. It’s going to be a blast!

  20. nunocardoso

the replay gets slow in some parts
that means that the ps3 is getting older and out of date
for the new graphics of the future games
    SONY,
prepare to build a PS4 soon

    by the way

    AMAZING stuff
    another AMAZING Gran Turismo
    always impress us

    1. Liam

Nah, PD just need to be more efficent. I’m sure with their expertise they can squeeze alot more power out of PS3, espcially with other devolpers help (e.g ND, they are the master of the cell processor, I’m sure they could use some hints from them, especailly shadowing problems) and PS3 games are always getting better, ps4 will be a LONG time away. Unless they’re a major breakthrough in tech i’d say no ps4 until about 2017, which is just as well, i’ve got way more than i can chew in the context of games atm. Anyways did anyone download these vids? they look 3x better than the stream, rain is sooo real!

    2. Gamer GT5

      @ Liam

Sony was supposed to reveal the ps4 this year but they decided to postpone it. They said it will be revealed in the next two years

    3. occasionalracer

@Liam No PS4 until 2017?? Were already more than halfway through PS3 lifespan, and if you think it’s the matter of technology holding PS4 back you’re clueless about PC gpu power.
It’s just a matter of being able to manufacture mass quantity of consoles at a price that isn’t too high for the general public. You know how much “easier” PD would have had it to without worrying about processing power limitations on PS3.

  21. idlestation

Night racing completely changes the game.. it feels entirely different. Can’t wait to try it out in November.

The glowing disc breaks look really sweet!

  22. Geo_212

It would be EPIC if you could customize your car with neon on the underside of the car and in the rims…. I would die. But that will most likely NOT happen :P

    1. Maxiboy

Wow thats the most un-epic thing I can think of … theres a game where you CAN do such vulgar customizations to otherwise tasteful cars, and its called NFS. Go give it a go.

    2. DrTrouserPlank

It’s actually such vulgarity that makes me hope we also don’t get a livery editor, as all the cars look like they are straight out of a comic book once the kiddies have covered them in Hentai etc.

    3. Philmangt

Geo, no offense but that is a horrendous idea…GT is a SIM of epic achievement. adding things like that would make it appear to be in the catagory of the other games like nfs and mindnight club. which is lame.

FYI, im not grumpy. quite the opposite since i had a threesome with twins a few hours ago! it was delightful. lol jk

  23. robert

ABSOLUTELY GOBSMACKED…..my only quarm with the videos though is lack of sound…. Otherwise this game is gonna kick forza into the last century

  24. Scoop2004

YAY!!! Everything looks amazing, nice to see exhaust flames are finally in the demo builds. These next few weeks are gonna be murder.

    1. tangocharlie

All cars have cockpit view, on Prolouge all cars had cockpit view and they were all standart. The difference between standart and premium cars is the level of detail.

    2. VeyronGlen

Kaz made this clear, only premium cars have interiors. Yes it is because of that, it says so on the official GT Website i think.

  25. Chris

the brakes glow pretty unrealistically which im abit bummed about..

i wonder if the heating process of the discs is speeded up with it being a demo.

    1. Mr Frappy

’tis true, some people get worked up about the most pointless things. Who cares if it is realistic or not? If being realistic means that during most replays, especially at night, glowing brakes are a rare treat, then I don’t want realistic. After all, it’s not like it changes the playing dynamics in any capacity – not unless you sit there driving, worrying if the brakes are glowing unnecessarily as you approach a corner…

    2. Strikey182

Wowza! Did Mr Frappy just make a comment that wasn’t supercritical?!?! ..just slightly hypocritical in the fact he’s saying that people shouldn’t be bothered about the pointless things :)

  26. Mitsuzuki

What’s with the new videos? Did youtube say something wrong? Now, clicking videos brings me to another web site? What the…

    1. Jordan

Gamersyde asked me a long time ago to link directly to their videos, and I’m happy to oblige – especially given the high quality of their content. Those ads you see pay for their plane tickets to Japan, food, lodging, press registration, etc., all so you can sit at home in your underwear and watch HD gameplay video of the latest GT5 demo from halfway around the world, for free, at the press of a button…and you’re complaining.

    2. Mr Frappy

Why do you say that BoBo? Just because Jordan made a comment?

Why Gamersyde exists and the costs they incur because of it is of no concern of mine. However, if they are going to capture and share “HD” videos, they should be 720p with audio, and streamable. As things stand, a lot of their videos are not HD, don’t have audio, and streaming is often disabled. Sometimes they don’t even play properly once you have downloaded them.

Being free to me, I don’t really have the right to complain, but I do have the right to not use their poor service and thus not click on any of the ads that pay for their holidays.

    3. Solidnads

      I agree with Frappy.

I prefer youtube vids to Gamersyde and read alot of people complaining about not being able to view their vids.

Not a complaint, just my oppinion and i certainly dont feel obliged to watch their vids to increase thier advertising revenue. If it were to benefit GTplanet then i would.

  27. andyzim

Looks great. I see they still have the stupid animation for changing gear on the paddle shift cars where the whole hand moves off the steering wheel. Looks daft to me.

  28. BWX

Oh one more observation- Only 4 cars at any given time lit up the track with their headlights. The rest had very dim small spots of light directly undr the headlights and that was it.

It must be a PS3 hardware limitation, but it seems like they could “raise up” the angle of the headlights so you can see a little farther down the track like in real life.

Other than that all these vids look sweet. I’ve seen a wet track at night with some really nice reflections, but I don’t think it was actually raining at night. Snow and rain and fog at night are gonna be cool, have we seen an example of that yet in any of these vids/ Trailers? I don’t remember seeing that.

    1. Jeniczech

I am really interest if it will be done in full game. More staff in the game, more details to care about. It is already looking awesome and I would not mind if this detail will stay as it is.

    2. niigma

Its the closest four cars around you that will have lights on. So it changes depending on your position…you can see this when the 458 goes off. The gallardo’s light dim once it passes.

    3. neem'

This must be a level of detail limitation thing, like how most games involving long distances (like GT) have different models with stages of complexity. You must have noticed how other cars and things look rough and blocky in the rear view mirrors or if they’re far ahead of you on GT5p, I’m guessing this is a similar measure to save processing power. Not a huge deal though, really.

  29. AlucarD83

It looks like they cleaned up the rock faces on the trial mountain track. If i remember correctly there used to be rocks sticking out of the wall to catch you if you ran the corners to wide.
Can’t wait to run some laps there again.

  30. BWX

I think the so called “high beam” will just be a “flash”- like when you flash high beams at someone from behind before you pass them. NOT an actual highbeam that shines further down the road.

I really think all night racing in GT5 will be ruined by headlights that only go out 50 feet and then pitch black road. That is totally unrealistic with any car except maybe vintage cars with very dim headlights OR if it is raining or foggy. On a clear night, modern headlights light up the road just fine, even at 150MPH. Imagine all that hard work for realism ruined by something as dumb as nonfunctional headlights.

COME ON PD, fix the headlights so they are functional and realistic.. not disappearing 50 feet in front of the car!

    1. Andre

Sorry guys, but I really can’t agree with you… Haven’t you heard Mr. Kaz talking about the struggle to keep up the FPS near 60?!? The beams and the damn trees are not as important as keeping the game speed in a realistic level. Please PD, if you really have to choose, forget all these geek details about the grass, the trees or the beems!
The thing that really matters is how you feel while driving! And that, you already done more than enough!

    2. neem'

The link in my user name is a photo of four cars, three LMP1/2 prototypes and what looks like a Porsche 911 GT2 RSR (I think) at Le Mans, at night. I think you’ll agree that it closely corresponds with the cars’ lights as seen in at least the first video (I haven’t watched the second yet).

Racing cars and regulations are not the same as road cars and regulations. I realise that road cars are racing in the first video but I don’t think this would be the first time PD have taken the lowest common denominator and made design decisions based around it; in this case they’ve modelled the headlights of the kind of car that normally races at Le Mans and applied it to all cars, the end result being a driving experience similar to what you’d experience at Le Mans, which, after all, is the point of GT games as simulators.

Also while I disagree that the headlights’ lack of road car illumination qualities is a result of getting the game to run at 60fps, I do agree that the driving is what matters. Why would you want night racing if the headlights illuminate the whole circuit in front of you? I for one can’t wait to get stuck in to the challenge of learning the circuits so well that I can do them in the dark, the thought of driving around at 100+ miles per hour with very little visibility in real life is terrifying (as you’d normally have street lights or just wouldn’t be going so fast) so the opportunity to do that in the most realistic way possible without doing it for real is something I’m really looking forward to.

    3. BWX

      @Andre-WHATEVER.
“raise forget all these geek details about the grass, the trees or the beems! The beams and the damn trees are not as important as keeping the game speed in a realistic level.”

WTF are you talking about?! Grass and trees have nothing at all to do with the REALISM like the lights on the car does. I never said jack about thr freaking grass or trees. If the lights on the cars illuminate the road ony 50 ft on the DARK PARTS of a track, that’s not realistic at all. If anything you would be blinded by glare from the lights in your rear view mirror. Kaz already said that we would not always be at 60fps constant. Having only 4 out of 16 car’s lights illuminate the road at all, and the other cars only lighting up 50ft is what’s not realistic.

Don’t try to argue that it isn’t imortant, you just look like a total fanboy. I love GT, but not having REALISTIC headlights isn’t worth a few fps. You don’t even know that raising the lights up will cause a huge fps drop. The fact that only 4 car’s lights work isn’t even the problem. It’s when you’re driving in the dark and can’t see as far as you would be able to in REAL LIFE that’s a problem- don’t freaking lump me in with people who complain about 2D trees and “grass” whatever you meant by that. One has nothing to do with the other.

  31. colind

stunning absolutely stunning…still I have some questions maybe someone knows….will I be able to play this game offline…(without signing in to PSN)and will we be able to disable the HUD?

    1. Rotard12a

I’m curious about the HUD as well. Would be nice if you could lose it completely for the in-car view (how awesome would it be if your nav system displayed your GPS position?)

As for PSN, Sony usually doesn’t have such draconian network policies (for comparison see Microsoft) so I’m sure you’ll be able to play without connecting.

    1. Nuclearfire

at 2:40 on the first video i think he has the high beam’s on for about a second and also at 2:40 on the replay you can see when he shuts off the high beams

  32. dearlybeloved

@Pletdekoe, tha feature that youhave mentioned…. I have been wanting to see a feature like that in GT for such a long time. I have yet to see the video so I am going by on other peoples opinion because right now it seems that this game is going to hit me so hard in the face like the very first game did i.e. a monumental achievement in replays because up until the first game nothing like that have ever been seen in car games.

    Peace out.

  33. BDawg

Are those licks of flame popping out of the exhaust on the Italia and Gallardo heading into the chicane after the long straight? If so, big f**king win there!

    1. RazzlDazzle

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that was a little flame from the backfire (or whatever it is that causes it) which normally isn’t too visible on the day tracks.

Oh, and nitrous doesn’t actually make any flame from the exhaust…

    2. Damian

It’s the phenomenon “Overrun”, during engine breaking without throttle, after full throttle, the rich air/fuel mix continues to burn after exiting (exhausting) the cylinder, this can be heard in the form of popping from the exhaust system and seen in extreme cases as flame licking the tips of the pipes.

    1. Pleurii

I second that, it really impressed me at the first? or second turn that it took the outside to overtake the guy driving the Ferrari, instead of just going with the driving lane, excellent.

    2. Stune

I have to agree as well. I think the AI has seen a big leap forward which im very pleased to see. Was great to see the Lambo go wide leaving the ferrari space on one turn. Then when the pass was made during the chicane a bit later on the Lambo didnt do a ‘schumacher’ on the ferrari and push it off like no doubt GT4 AI would have.

    3. occasionalracer

Who gives a rats behind about AI when surely everyone has internet these days. I don’t think I could ever have fun racing against no one. Although I applaud all efforts for the improvement of it, cause likely there will be license test to pass, and any less frustration with unforseen AI manouvers will be greatly appreciated.

    4. Stune

I dissagree occasionalracer. I enjoy online racing as much as anyone, but im unfortunate to live in a location with slow internet. On top of that i have wifi connection issues alot of the time, the combiniation of which makes online racing sadly less accessable than it used to be.

I think AI is an area which has needed a lot of room for improvements. If GT5 makes big steps forward them i for one apluade it.

Given the expansive volume of the single player part of the game the last thing we want is lausy AI.

    5. Rotard12a

@occasionalracer If everyone online drove in a professional matter, I would agree. However, considering 95% of online players on consoles are incompetent 12 year old brats I still prefer AI for most racing.

    6. occasionalracer

@Stune yes i understand maybe my comment about everyone has internet these days was not very accurate, infact I know there are many places around the world that have very unstable connections and not everyone has the luxery of it.
      @extender cool, enjoy the game
@Rotard12a Well it’s rather unfortunate for you that you’re getting stuck with the 12 year olds. From my experience when racing in expert, there are some very mature and fast people out there, and usually all kids/crash dummies will start fading back. Thank goodness there will be private race hosting so you can be assured everyone is interested in running fair. I’ve had great races and that %95 of yours is just crazy talk.

    1. Bernd

More glare would be fine. If 8 cars are coming towards you, you’d be blinded by the light in RL (not to talk about 16).

    2. George

headlights glare when u view them through camera, that was GT4 mistake with tyre smoke, tyre smoke in GT4 is exactly the same u can see with a simple camera, they corrected this in gt5, why make the same mistake with the glare u suggest.

  34. lugi77

buyed my ps3 a week ago – only for this game, and i bet thousands other will do the same. R.I.P Forza, had a nice time with you, but now its time to grow up…

    1. occasionalracer

Haha…ya the professionalism of this game is so evident when compared to any racing sim out there. PD have set a new standard and it will be very hard for any other developer to come close, unless they inject much more money into their game and of course time (I totally understand the lengthy wait with all this new footage). I think once the next GT hits PD/Sony will really cash in as there will be much less initial development. PD should expand and develop all major types of racing leagues as separate games.

  35. PletdeKoe

Wow, just saw this at Gamerside.

I love the way cars become illuminated by other cars lights. This game is going to be insane! This is the best news and info we had in the last 5 years. And for the first time I really can’t wait to get my hands on the game!!

    1. ICEMAN_ZIDANE

GT 5 ! i really don’t know what to say
      everything is perfect
      thanks Kaz Yam

tracks/cars/sounds/graphics/colours ( very important )/details/”Weather changes include temperature differences, air pressure changes, and humidity, affecting the surface conditions of the track dynamically”/+all the other things = AWESOME
2nd November will be my new birthday :D

    2. FlareKR

Actually I’m getting only GT5 CE for my b-day; Oct.29. Just 5 days after, and I’m holding my B-Day party/GT5 has finally come out party!
