Another GT Sport Update is On Its Way This Week

Gran Turismo Sport 88 June 5, 2018 by

It’s not even a week since we got our hands on the latest update of GT Sport, but there’s another on its way.

According to an announcement on official game website, another update will follow a short maintenance period on June 7:

At the following time, we will perform maintenance on the ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ servers. A new game update will also be available after the maintenance. Please note that during this time the online services, including [Sport Mode], will not be available.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

With no teasers from Kazunori Yamauchi, or any other indications of the update’s purpose, it’s unlikely to be anything too significant. At the least it’s probably not going to bring any content with it. Instead it seems like it will be a bugfix update.

A clue comes from another announcement on the GT Sport site. That refers to a current issue with GT Sport that the v1.19 patch introduced, alongside nine cars and Circuit de la Sarthe. This bug affects users who play on multiple consoles and can lead to the loss of save game status:

We have confirmed an issue wherein cars in your garage can disappear if you are playing ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ with the same PlayStation™Network account on more than one PlayStation®4 system.

This issue can occur if you install Update 1.19 on one PlayStation®4 system, then use the same PlayStation™Network account on a different system where Update 1.19 is not installed.

We are planning to fix this issue with the next update. Until then, if you are currently playing ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ on multiple systems, please refrain from using the same PlayStation™Network account when using the other systems.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.

As usual, don’t forget that all of GT Sport‘s online services become unavailable at the moment the maintenance starts, and will not be restored until after you have updated the game. Be sure to save manually well ahead of the window.
