Franklin has a mode like Zone from MC:LA so he has precision while driving, sort to speak.

Trevor has a frenzy mode where he deals double damage, takes half damage, and has a special melee move..

Michael has his own version of bullet time.

That's what I think the special skills are..

I actually forgot about those :boggled:. Makes sense now.

I really like the custom number plate feature, but I wonder, how costy everything will be... Maybe like SA-prices?

Hopefully enough to make you work for it. I believe there were a couple properties in VC that took quite a bit of cash to own. I preferred that honestly.

Special skills aren't the slow down driving/bullet time and Frenzy mode that have already been mentioned? Or that Franklin will always be the best driver, Trevor the best pilot and Michael best shooter/sniper? (Not sure if Michaels is right.)

What I think'd be cool is, when you scuba dive, you go into first-person mode with a screen overlay that makes it seem like you're wearing an oxygen mask/suit. I'd enjoy the scenery more. 👍

I'm thinking things like Muscle, Fat, etc, like in GTA SA.

Could be but since they aren't doing that, at least as far as you can see on the screen with them getting fat and all I doubt that's what they special skills are.

If it looks anywhere as good as GTA IV, then I won't care. That game still looks great for all the details it's presenting, so you can't honestly expect a game like V sprouting such a massive environment to look as graphically impressive as The Last of US or GOW: Judgement.
This.
After going from GTA:SA to GTA IV, I was surprised at how great the graphics were and still marvel at it today. Honestly I kind of was expecting GTA V to be a lot like GTA:SA in the way that GTA:SA wasn't a big improvement in graphics over Vice City but huge in content and environment. That's exactly what I expected out of GTA V, slightly better graphics, but a world of content and a massive environment. I guess I expected that because it was sort of the first thing Rockstar said in the first few press releases. I'm not sure why people are disappointed that the graphics won't be revolutionary or mind-bendingly beautiful, nobody ever promised or hinted at that. Huge leaps in content and environment size was what was promised from the get-go.

I'm sure I speak for pretty much everyone when I say that it was the first trailer that heightened everyone's expectations for GTA V's graphics, only to find that in reality it won't be much of an improvement over GTA IV.

I'm not disappointed though, I like GTA IV's graphics nor did I ever expect the graphics to be as good as the ones in the trailers.

GTA V's graphics by todays standards are meh though. The improvement over III era games was significant but I hope for a little better than IV. Sometimes things seem blurry or not quite clear enough or something.

EDIT:

Apparently GTA V will have regenerating health. Hm..Could be good or bad.

GameFront
Grand Theft Auto V will feature regenerating health, a first for the series. As Edge Online reports, this decision was made to “encourage ballsy play.”

Regenerating health has always been a contentious issues among gamers — is it an appropriate evolution of the health system, or does it dumb down play?

What are your thoughts? Are you for or against regenerating health in GTA V? How about in FPS games? Does “realism” play into your opinion at all? Is regenerating health any more unrealistic than health packs?

Check back next week for my thoughts on regenerating health in GTA V and games in general.

The GTAV o' clock guys in the hour and a half video the other day, said health only regenerated to 50%, you would still need to find "health" to get back to 100%.

They also said over and over how good the graphics were, with no pop up, and being able to see great distances. On a PS3.

Hard to tell who to believe.

Who the hell cares about graphics when it comes to GTA? I just want a good story, lots of fun vehicles and the ability to wreak havoc wherever I go.

I do to a certain extent. As the more it looks like real life the better and more immersive to me it is.

From what I remember on what has been said, there was no massive claim about hugely improved graphics, but improvements on drawing distance and smoothness. As far as I am concerned, IV was acceptable for graphics. I would much rather developer effort was in content, not making things 3% prettier.

I'm the opposite when it comes to graphics, its why I still play Half Life 1 daily

I think that despite what has been said. The graphics will be of a good standard and certainly a lot better than IV. I want this game so much, but its so far away :(

Didn't San Andreas look just slightly worse than Vice City - atleast on the PS2? Or is my memory failing me on this one?

Either way, I don't care that much for graphics, especially if it means smoother gameplay. To this day, I still think that GTA IV looks great, but the godawful FPS drops are at times just way too much.

From my memory, no. But it has been ages since I saw SA, and even longer since VC.

Ditto. Graphics are not really an issue for me. Don't get me wrong, I like good graphics but I've never let them get in the way of my enjoyment of a game. Right now, I'm hooked on dark souls and demon's souls. Not the prettiest games in the world, but some of the deepest, most rewarding games out there.

Hard to tell who to believe.

Personally, I'm inclined to believe Dan Dawkins (from GTA:V o'clock). Dan was the editor of psm2 /3 which I read for ten years. Thanks to that magazine, I avoided buying a ton of sub par games that were hyped up and likewise played several titles that slipped by most people.

I found SA's graphics better than VC's. Could just be me though.

Skills they've acquired over a very long career that make life a nightmare for people like you.
Haha, you're probably right 👍.

I didn't really notice any difference in graphics between the two.

There's never going to be a leap in graphics when it's still on the same system, as you guys already said, from VC to SA there was little to no difference, the same will be with GTA IV and V aside with slightly better draw distance and smoother objects ect. I think the only noticeable difference would be if they released it for PC, on ultra settings i bet it would be incredible!

I am hoping for the same thing too. VC did indeed take a while to save up money. I believe the motel that had the helicopter on the top cost at least $50,000 which took quite a lot of in game hours to obtain. In a good way. That's what makes it so rewarding when you have to save up and budget your money to buy the houses and businesses.

The moment in VC when I saved enough to finally buy that motel was an incredible gaming experience I will never forget. Buying the motel then going to the top to see a helicopter available was epic. I spent hours and hours just flying around thinking wow this the most incredible moment I have ever experienced in gaming. Listening to the amazing soundtrack and just cruising around enjoying the scenery....from above in my new helicopter! So it made it that much more rewarding to actually save up for it. I hope the properties and businesses in GTA5 are very expensive. I want to save up and earn them again.

So you can understand why I was so disappointed with GTA4 when I found out we could not buy property, couldn't buy cars, no customization.....and much more of the features we loved from the GTA series were gone. GTA4 just wasn't GTA to me. BUt its great they listened to the community feedback and we are getting everything back again from VC and SA. Still cant wait until they mention the co-op modes. Really hoping for 16 player co-op modes like in RDR. I am almost positive its going to happen. Since it was so successful in RDR. I already have my pre-order copy pretty much paid off and I put some money down for my brothers pre-order copy. Cant wait!!!!

No, GTA 4 while very nice looking, was extremely washed out and very grainy/blurry even on the sharpest settings on my tv, GTA5 so far looks clear, vivid and sharp.

GTA IV was extremely washed out and grainy, to the point it was blurry, and looked awful at times, i know rock* was trying to create a gritty smug feel, but they dropped the ball big time, imo, GTA5 so far looks very sharp, vivid and crisp, already it seems like the graphics are day and night difference compared to GTA IV.

I think the reason why GTA IV looks blurry and washed out is to make the low quality versions of buildings look less obvious at a distance, in most games you can see higher quality objects loading in and out but Rockstar have tried to hide it with this effect, Vice City seemed to have it aswell or it might have just been the neon lights everywhere. They must have worked hard on the engine because everything looks good in the pics and the game will obviously be much bigger than GTA IV to. The old GTA V screenshot with the plane flying over the river is beautiful.

Yes that blurry grainy draw distance really killed GTA4 graphically especially compared to other sandbox games on the 360. As mentioned above, it has taken a really nice leap forward graphically. Even though gameplay is still most important to me. But as many features as they removed to make GTA4, I was a bit disappointed with the graphics.

GTA5 is looking very good so far. I guess we will know more once some of the console videos and pics start getting released. I imagine most of the pics and videos we have seen are from the PC version. So we know it wont look that nice on consoles, especially the draw distance. Which is fine with me because there is a LOT more going on in GTA5 then there was in GTA4.

Any guesses on how many discs the 360 version will have? 2-3?

Well L.A. Noire required 3 apparently but with all this talk of GTA V being much bigger than anything else Rockstar has produced and it will no doubt have the most features of any Rockstar game we have seen. Having said that I can't imagine the animation being as intensive as L.A. Noire which as a result will mean they could use lower quality characters in terms of polygons. I'd say 3 discs minimum.

^ That's what I am guessing 2-3 discs but the mp will have to be on all the discs because it said you can go into the mp at any time just like with GTA4. I am not too worried about how many discs its on, just wondering. Even if its 4 I wont care but I don't think it will be on that many discs. But you never know. haha

Oh also something I forgot to mention. The crazy part is how you can go from one character to the other 2 at any time. That is VERY similar to Battlefield 2 Modern Combat campaign. You could go from the sniper, to the tank, to the ground troopers with the click of a button at any time. And when you are not using a character the AI just goes on using them. Just like BF2MC. That is going to be very interesting in a sandbox storyline game. I guess in that way it will work like the Sims games.

I imagine that the multiplayer will be installed from one of the discs to the player's hard drive and then whenever you try to use multiplayer it reads off the hard drive. I think this 3 player campaign thing is very risky and although I expect Rockstar to do a good job they are creating so many potential problems by doing it, hopefully they are using this delay to ensure the game works as well as it can.

I wonder if the multiplayer-mode will - and could - bring a co-op mode - I mean for missions, since it's available by just pressing down (correct me if I remember wrong). That could be nice, and maybe come in handy.
