The 60 minutes race room is going up in a few minutes, who's coming out for it?

I'll be there. I've never participated in a tournament event. From what I understand, we enter one of the quali rooms and do our business, then new rooms will open for the race, so we leave the quali lobby when we're satisfied/its over?

Lol! They are sorting the grid right now, the race servers will be going online shortly!

Ugh...somebody wrecked me on lap 9 going into the inner loop. Got next to me on the straight, I waited for him to back off, he didn't so I did, and he goes too far inside, hits the wall and comes left into me. Wasn't a real hard hit but got a meatball flag. Six minutes in the pits. From 4th to 6th (my god, what happened to everybody else?), Then I spun twice on my own but not losing any positions from it. Both times I lightly tapped the wall coming to a stop and got meatball flags too. Setup feels good though. I was running faster than the 2nd place car at the end.

That was a pretty good race! Had a lot of fun! I had the chance of getting 2nd place on the second to last lap, was like .03 behind 2nd coming into the last corner so I had to nail it perfect, do or die moment for me so I went for it, couldn't get the car to rotate like I wanted andkissed the wall! Just barely but enough for a meatball, so I had to pit and lost the 17 second gap I had on 4th place.
Was a fun race, made up one spot on the 3rd lap and then another one when Darrin lost his engine, from there it was all managing the gap to the guy in front and masnaging the tires for the last charge to the line, a little over halway trough the 2nd place guy came into the pits and that moved me into 3rd with a damn good shot at 2nd.
Learned a lot from this race and am feeling pretty good for Saturday!

Didn't get to run that race, stayed up too late last night, couldn't wake up in time.

Did practice some more and I think I've hit my proverbial wall. I can't repeat the 1:41 I got before, but my optimal is down to a 1:40.9. I've found my comfortable long term race pace to be mid-high 1:42's in clear air, and 1:43-1:44's depending on traffic. So I'll be aiming for a 1:42 qualifying time.

Jav, you got a meatball with two laps to go? As far as I know you have like four laps to pit for that and if the race finish is before that you can finish without taking care of it.

Also, that qualifying session was the bigger cluster**** I've ever seen.

I've used this tactic in a Legends race, black repair flag with 3 laps left. 5 laps you have to clear it, once I stupidly went in the pits and lost loads of spaces. I always keep an eye on laps left now and if drivable, stay out.

Yeah, I thought about it but I didn't wanna risk a penalty or a DQ. And yes quali was horrible! On my first lap I got a 40.049 but it didn't count because I dropped a wheel off, couldn't get anything better than a 40.5 after that with all the traffic. What really ticked me off was the guys who would impeed someone's fast lap on their outlap by not getting out of the way. Thank God we have several oportunities for qualifying during the week!

I was doing my best to get out of the way, but unable to run any laps without a DP trying to storm through me. Finally the nearest DP was 40 seconds behind and the nearest CTSVR was about 15 ahead so I had some clean laps but on tires that now had too much pressure.

I think in this case we are going to see quite a few DP drivers making "HPD-esque" dive-bomb moves. Since this is a special event we are going to see quite a few drivers who don't have much experience with multi-class racing when there is a decent (10sec) difference in speeds. We are going to see quite a few aggressive/bonehead moves. If we end up in the same split (doubtful) I promise I'll make my usual passive moves, but I know much of the rest of the field will not be so patient. Good luck Caddy drivers, I don't envy you one bit.

I didn't have many issues from DP drivers during the race. I tend to be very clear about what I'm doing...DPs get the chance to pass me once they are within half a second and nearing a braking zone. If they're further, they can get by a few seconds later without me having to go out of my way. If I can make it easy and brake early for one to squeeze beside me and take the inside line without hurting either of us, that's fine too.

You know, the speed differential between the cars isn't that bad. The cornering speed of the Caddy is right there with the DP and the DP can get past with no problem on the straight. I didn't have any trouble with a GT car during the race, the problem was during quali with less experienced drivers who would come out of the pits into the driving line and stay there even when there where people on a hot lap. It happened with both DP and Caddy drivers, other than that this 2 cars and this track are a match made in heaven!

That's pretty good pace! Just make sure to do quali and you'll get a split where you'll be very competitive. This special events always have massive participation and no matter your time you will always land in a split where the whole field is covered by 1-1.5 seconds!

Thanks!
Just joined an official practice server and its running the classic boot? Managed a time of consistent 40.xxx and an optimal of 39.834

i'm glad it changed to the Classic Boot! Will make for better racing!

From the practice I did in the hosted sessions the “bus stop” looked likely for an incident. It also allows more room for the Riley DP to clear the Caddys on the strait.

The Bus Stop is definitely a problematic spot, almost every race I've done here there's a big lap 1 pile up there. Almost always had to straight line the chicane and come a few places ahead or on the lead on the other side! Lol!

I qualified really bad for the one last weeked, started in back of DP field, had Shaun Cole right behind me and another Caddy who kept trying to pass me on warm up lap.

I had a feeling this race was going to have some issues, and I didn't even make it to bus stop before a guy dived bombed me. He didn't even make the corner, caused me to spin because I locked them up at last min. After I finally made it to the pits. It was a never ending story with mistakes on my part, so I just quit.

I'm glad they messed up with not using the bus stop, it's one corner I felt there would be mistake with no room for errors. Turn 1 is similar and hope I don't get run over because I'm slow there too.

You where on the same race eric and I were, didn't realize you where there! I hate it when people are on your gearbox like that on a pace lap.

Greatttt....braking into the turn after the bus stop is awful in the Cadillac. Even though its where I was wrecked at, I prefer using the bus stop version.

I had no idea other than Darin and Shaun. I was in the 22, not sure which paint scheme you saw.

It kind of ticked me off because of what Darin said about spreading out which I was trying to do since I was last row in DP.

Yeah, I know how you feel! I always do it when running the Vette on the Proto/GT series, in some ocations eventhough I'm in pole and express the intentions of leaving a gap between LMP and GT very clearly on the text chat some guys will totally ignore it and get right under the wing of the HPD in front wich is a pretty dumb thing to do...

Advice for turn 9 anyone?

Don't know how it is in the Caddy, but that damn corner feels like an ice skating rink in the DP. I feel like I'm absolutely crawling through there and if I try to go even a little faster I spin.

What kind of speed are you guys entering/carrying/exiting in turn 9? Typical out/in/out line? Apexing around the end of the inside rumble strips?

It's almost worth starting in pits and passing the slower cars as they sort themselves out. It might be my game plan to run my race without first turn hero!

In the Caddy I've found that I gained a lot of time following the inside curbing very closely instead of doing the whole out-in-out thing. Then get on the power with the wheel straight as soon as you can, even if you aren't totally aimed out of the exit. So I sort of go to the outside in a straighter path, allowing me to gain some speed before pointing straight down the track, if that makes any sense...That's one of the spots where I used to spin the Caddy for no apparent reason, with no change in inputs at all. New setup doesn't seem to have that issue.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try a wider entry and getting the car straightened out ASAP so I can get on the gas sooner. I'm losing a good 0.5 seconds compared to other drivers running around the same lap times as me (high 1:38's to low 1:39's) at the Classic Boot.

I debated doing this, but being in the DP I don't want to have to fight through a full field of Cadillacs.

I never even saw, this is going to be a rolling start right?
