Kobayashi rubs against Alg. And Sutil is on fire!

EDIT: A retirement or two more, and Lotus might actually score a point!!!

I hope to see Hamilton to finish the race, poor guy hasn't got to finish a race in awhile :/

Looked like a pretty gnarly incident with the Force India car too

Hamilton's championship hopes are: Go 2011! Poor boy.

Seems he'll be able to stay out in 5th, but he should've been able to challenge for 3rd.

Sutil out in a cloud of smoke. Good work keeping the car in one piece till he got to the pits.

If the Mclaren holds together, Lewis should stay out ahead of Rosberg. Button has a chance at a podium if he can catch Alonso. As I say this... Rosberg with a big shunt... brings out the yellow with 5 laps to go... we might end this race on a yellow.

Kobayashi! :D

Both VJM's are out. Hammy had to let Button pass, and in hindsight...I really don't want Vettel to win the WDC.

On a lighter note, I still want to hit commentator Legard repeatedly with a pool cue.
I think you just have, I had temporary sound loss when I was watching BBC. Now my commentary sounds weird.

Another wheel failure.. What is this a curse? Sad to see it though, he was going awesome up until now.

Good work for Kobayashi.

As it stands... Vettel wins, Webber second, but still first in the championship. Alonso third... he picked up the pace to stay ahead of Button... now he's tied with Vettel for second in the championship. Button fourth and still fifth in the championship, with Hamilton fifth and fourth.

If Vettel keeps up his good form and avoids any incidents over the last few races, he could win it all. Good work from him.

The McLarens have an outside shot at the championship... just thirty odd points adrift. But it's doubtful... they'd have to hope Red Bull's reliability gets worse near the end, and it seems like that's not going to happen. Alonso has an excellent chance of winning it all if either Red Bull driver falters.

If I was in the habit of biting nails, my fingers would be stubs.

Well done Red Bull, well done Vettel and well done Kobayashi, 7th in his home race. 7 cars have retired, and for the first time this year, first corner chaos! :)

Kobayashi is really starting to show his worth now, put him in a faster car and he'll easily be a top runner. If Sauber gets rid of him, it's both the stupidest and smartest thing to do. Smartest, only if he can sign with Renault or Mercedes...maybe even Williams.

Vettel wins, no surprise really :)

Really disappointed that Button was slow on the harder tyre, and that Hamilton had his gear problem. We missed a really good battle with Alonso. It was a shame with Kubica early on aswell, i'm sure the race would have been far more interesting had he been among the leaders.

Kobayashi's late charge is comparable to that of Robert Kubica at Singapore. I'm not sure why Heidfeld let him past though... or at least, that is what the 5Live commentary said had happened. Maybe he just didn't want to make contact, and Kobayashi is one crazy 🤬 when he's on a charge

He let 'em by because he was absolutely faster. The guy is, for lack of a better word, fearless.

Crazy, banzai... Kobayashi was driving like mad! :D

Congratulation to Vettel, Webber, Alonso and all drivers who made it to the end. Best race of the season I'd say in my opinion. Also best finishing position for Lotus of Kovalainen in 12th and Trulli in 13th, awesome weekend!

Phew...

Congratulations to them all, absolutely. I'm still far too skeptical of Vettel, but I'd love for the guy to prove me wrong and show that he doesn't have to be alone to actually win a race without buckling under some kind of pressure.

I'm still of the opinion that Vettel's overtaking issues are due to the tricky nature of the RBR's blown diffuser aerodynamics when following.

There's no denying he is a fast driver. The racecraft... that will probably come with a few more seasons' worth of experience.

I can't really remember many overtakes in modern F1 at the hairpin, the problem is its a short run from Degner to the Hairpin and like I said, the track is very narrow. There is little room for error and the kink before the hairpin makes it incredibly difficult to judge a braking point and also for the driver ahead to notice the overtake.
To further complicate the issue, you have to follow the car in front all the way through the Esses, Dunlop and Degner with the wake effect causing understeer...and then keep ultra close after Degner to let you divebomb.
I would say most of the time its a bad idea to try overtaking at the hairpin at least at F1-speeds. There is too small room for errors there.

Tell that to Kobayashi

He absolutely is a fast driver, but from what I've seen all season that's just about all he is in my eyes. I take nothing away from him, he's a great driver but he seriously needs to keep a leveled head when there's pressure being put on him in either instance: whether it be him on the verge of overtaking (his single most largest concern) or whether it be pressure being placed on him from someone trying to overtake (not much of a problem at all when he's alone).

If he does win the WDC, he'll have a lot to prove next season. All of the excuses of him being too young, etc... simply won't fly anymore.

Awesome race and what a race. Kobayashi I think needs to give the entire F1 field a lesson on how to pass with in a F1 car because that whole aerodynamic stuff dosnt seem to bother him any. I would say hes the best driver at passing out of the whole field because when he wants to pass you he WILL pass you if you like it or not.

oh and time for bed its 4am here

Great race, just about everyone drove superb races but Kobayashi is easily the highlight! Too bad it was over so fast (especially in comparison to just watching a 1000km race). I think the races should be time limited to 2 hours at least or an extended distance.

Well I wonder what happened to that attitude when he got passed by Hamilton into turn 1 :p

I must say, Alguersuari's (I think it was him) sour grapes with Kobayashi at the hairpin was pretty pathetic, Kobayashi was lucky not to end up with radiator damage.
