Massa out qualifies Alonso for the 4th race in a row, hope he can outpace him tomorrow. Vettel on pole again, but I don't think that's a confirmation of the car's actual pace in the race.

Do you see what we mean by vettel's luck now? again...

He got lucky with the rain but he deserve it, he did an awesome lap. I'm sad for Hamilton. Both Ferrari looks super strong for tomorrow. Kimi on 7th position but I'm sure he'll be very impressive tomorrow.

I just don't understand the clamour over Di Resta.

Who exactly is clamouring...? I'm just curious as to why you dislike Di Resta is all, the guy is meh to me, but you don't see me on the boards wishing ill upon him so...

They all had the same track and tyre choices, he just put in a better lap (9/10ths). Again.

The BBC and SKY in a lesser regard mainly. He gets average results and they still love him. I don't dislike anyone, just don't understand the attention he gets at times. I wouldn't say wanting Sutil to out qualify him is wishing ill, you make it sound like I want him to stove it into a wall.

Perhaps it's because the BBC treat him like the second coming?

Actually he decided to come in for new inters while Lotus, Merc and Ferrari decided to stay on older inter rubber. Vettel made a great choice and thus got the lap he deserved. Not luck and not really down to a better car either (though in the rain this car is looking to be the best), just a wise choice

Well that's the BBC, I don't know what they do because...well I'm American and use Speed and NBC as my main source for F1 info, along with F1Fanatic (which is GB).

Well it looks like the old Felipe that we all loved and saw bits of last season is here to stay.

:D
Good job by him.

The RBR clearly has more downforce then the others, which would be a benefit in those conditions. It's also turning out to be a problem in the dry as its eating up the tyres.

Either way, the run to the first corner tomorrow will be tasty.

Well I did say that the RBR are the best rain car in my post, I am aware their downforce helps them be a better car in these conditions. However, my main point is the times would have probably been closer if everyone else decided to do what Vettel did. However, since they did not, and paired with the car and his driving he got the top lap on fresher tires. While others burnt theirs out much prior to him. Lewis didn't have a chance even though he looked to have pole, too bad cause he was my pick for it and so so so close, but the smart choice won in the end.

I didn't same the same tyres, I said choice, hence my post just after qualifying. He came in, others didn't. I didn't say it was luck either.

Well done Vettel and Massa. Good choice to change to fresh inters.

Lotus changed to new intermediate tyres also.

You're right but the car doesn't have the downforce, and Kimi was quite unstable on his fast lap and didn't pose a threat to Lewis. Thus he is starting further down the grid. I'm not Vettel fan, but he didn't have luck as some may think.

I know you didn't I was referring to the post above you, the part I was saying to you was he only was up nearly a second due to time of tire change, and the fact he actually changed them when Sutil, Webber (I think), Hamilton, and Button didn't. If they had I still think Vettel had to chance to stay on pole, but it wouldn't have had that gap of a second, but a smaller gap instead.

Either way I expect Alonso to get him or Hamilton...or both or Massa due to trying to keep three faster straight line cars, and two great starters (Fernando and Lewis) behind him down a long straight. Last week showed us that Vettel doesn't have overall race speed so...

Yet I still feel the Ferrari may be faster than the Merc, but tomorrow should really help prove speeds between the two.

Nice job by Vettel getting that lap in under pressure. Those tires are gonna be hard to manage on raceday.

Hopefully Massa gets the good strategy tomorrow so he can redeem himself more against Alonso, but look at how things went last year.

With Webber not there to hold back the field, I have a feeling Vettel's gonna get swallowed up on the first lap.

I'm expecting big moves from Mercedes, especially if it stays drier. If we get Spa-like torrential scattered rain though, it'll be another dice roll.

Congrats to Sutil for a great top ten start, let's hope FI can keep it up in the race.

McLaren looked strong at times but they were still struggling trying to set up the car, so it looks like it'll be very tough holding off those behind let alone moving up.

Can't wait for the race.

He is lucky but it wasnt luck this time , just a good call by the team and himself

Unlucky though for Webber who always gets the worst end of the stick

As I said, it was a smart choice to get new tyres. Anyway, Vettel for the win tomorrow.:sly:

Wasn't it Webber's choice to stay out, not RB's?

Like my edit says...

I don't think Vettel's car has the ability to outrun the three others down to the corner, and sadly unlike the rain conditions of Q3. He can't over come lack of speed.

Wasn't it Webber's choice to stay out, not RB's?

Exactly, just like it was for others that could have easily come in and still had enough time for 2 laps at the most to make something happen.

Webber didnt sound very happy on the team radio in the end so I dont think it was his choice but who knows for sure , he does whine a lot

was his choice to let Lewis pass him... and because of it he lost time to be able to set another lap time. At least that's what Chris Horner said :)

raikkonen or button?

I remember seeing a McLaren blocking a Mercedes in the last sector (not sure where...maybe last corner). I don't know if Raikkonen blocked anyone but I'm sure Button or Perez did it... :/

That was Perez and Hulkenberg.

Mercedes looking like it has got decent pace over one lap. Lewis was fastest of people who used only one set of Inters in Q3. The extra fresh set of Inters might come handy in race. Hopefully race pace is as good, so Lewis can do the overtaking, rather than fall back in the race.

Kimi and Romain first corner might be interesting. I wonder if team will tell him to be extra cautious around Kimi. Hopefully incident free start all around.

Hmm... Red Bull was anticipating that the rain would come earlier than it did... Did they optimize (the little you can do) their cars for wet conditions? Webber was second fastest in Q2, three tenths behind Rosberg (I think, a Mercedes, at least), but Vettel was a whole second behind.

Anyway, the start is going to be interesting. I doubt Vettel will come out first after the second corner.
It's also good to see Massa doing well, but do the media have to mention every time he out qualifies Alonso? It also looked like Massa shed a couple of tears during the press conference and his voice was cracking slightly.

Massa is a great driver. I don't see the point of making such noise when he is faster than Alonso.
