Can't be sure he would have improved though. Rosberg was already over a tenth down on his previous fast lap by the time he pulled off the track.
They had less fuel than their first run, and Hamilton couldn't get a decent last sector in any session. There was a chance. We'll never know.

I dibsed too so, yeah :) I don't think it was intentional, but from Son of Keke anything's possible. The game is certainly on in the Merc garage.

Uh... first moderator, then? :D

-

It really doesn't look intentional... And he parked it off in the run-off instead of on-track.

Far into the run-off... up against the wall. He did try to park it out of the way, so can't really fault him.

-

Lewis did look pissed, but he's being very polite and political about it.

Ooh... they asked the question.

Lewis' smile... classic!

Obviously I'm not an expert, but there does seem to be a lot of wheel movement from Rosberg. Trying to unsettle the car?

he made a mistake and it was clear that he wasnt gonna improve. Everything else, including overactive steering is just an inner battle of conscience and desire to win.

The only suspicious thing, is he didn't really go to the left before the corner, has he already lost control at that point? maybe

Funny thing... Nico looks almost defiant about it. That tight-lipped grin where he said: "Yes, that's unfortunate" was pretty... well... I'd expect something like that from Lewis, but Nico?

The race hasn't even begun and it's starting to look damn ugly.

They're all cut throats even big grin Dan may have a dark side, don't let their demeanor before a WDC opportunity show you.

Wow. Rosberg went from smiling in the press conference to having a straight face. He's genuinely shocked that Lewis is upset.

One thing for sure, if he did mess it up on purpose, he slapped it in Hamilton's face about not being hungry enough.

Most of that wheel movement was after the turning point.

Hamilton's interviews make it even more interesting...

A bit of bad sport from Rosberg celebrating that pole so much, he stopped Hamilton from taking it with a mistake, should be more humble than that.

Fox sports asia presenter Alex Yoong even said that he was actually expecting something like this (from Nico) would happen!
And I agree with him.
Looks like Nico deliberately did this (pushing very hard knowing that if he makes a mistake then it's over for Lewis) . LOL... it's just a clever but not an honourable move by him.
By the look of his facial expression in the post interview said it all, I could read his "evilish" smile throughout the interview.

Or when put under pressure to put in a genuine pole lap he made a mistake. Either way Hamilton knows he has him...

I think both drivers are handling the incident poorly. Also, the barbed interview questions are not helping any.

Nico could have been a whole lot more diplomatic about it... but since Lewis is one for playing head games... tit for tat.

@LMSCorvetteGT2 so, FIA took 5 races to name the RedBull FOM cam placement illegal but they did it in the end. Quite laughable.

The camera position was legal to the rulebooks, it just wasn't in the spirit of them because they didn't write anything in that said the camera housing actually had to be big enough to fit a camera in. Cheeky, but that's what all F1 teams do, exploit the wording (or lack of) in the rulebook.

Yeah the sad part is it wasn't even a solution that worked, I told you guys early on that they were trying some other than the the t bars on the nose. Either way it's whatever. Not sure why bringing it up now matters.

I kind of agree with this, but I still believe Rosberg is the better man. Not the fastest, but the better. I just can't stand Hamilton out of personal reasons.

I don't think it was a deliberate mistake, but it would be nice to hear the team radio and check the telemetry just to dispel those bad thoughts.

I'm questioning why FIA took 5 races to decide. Not the advantage you might get from it. If it is illegal in Monaco, it was clearly illegal even in Australia.
It looks so random and inconsistent by FIA if you ask me.

What was curious is that Rosberg apparently started reversing to get back on the track, extending the yellow. Why? His lap was done, he knew the time was up, why not just wait at the very end of the run off until track was clear?

He didn't reverse until after Hamilton cleared him, did he?

I'm glad you caught that, because I did in the interview as well. And from all this if it is true that Nico said something over the radio to find out where Lewis was, pull this whole thing off, and then start reversing to make sure the yellow comes out then that would be something...

Did you see the interview or not? Because if you didn't then you missed the answer.
