2015 Subaru WRX & STi - WRX Wagon on the way?

I don't like the way the front droops. It's just the same on the current Lancer but it really doesn't work on the Impreza.

This Impreza render doesn't even look good. The wheels are big, it's trying to be the Evo X, but the Evolution is way better than this, and from the side picture, looks like it's been in a chop top factory.

The silver one (GRB-2 maybe?) looks better than this, even though the picture is taken by 3/4 driver side (It is the JDM version, I think.)

But I know the guys at Subaru aren't doing this, so we are good.

Trying to be an Evo X? That's some .014/20 vision there.

The back is a bit over the top, but it's not a bad-looking car. I'd rather look at that over THIS ONE...

Looks like an EVO X? Uh, yeah. That's how the industry works today, look at the competition and try to make a better copy.

I like the blue render from the last page. A lot.

I think that's the best-looking of the three GDs and one of the best-looking cars Subaru has ever made. Minus the spoiler (as you posted) it looks graceful and refined yet mean and purposeful at once. I love the indented trunk line.

I like the blue concept but I'm waiting for a more official reveal because it's purported to be an unofficial render.

No, they're probably planning something worse.

Let's just hope they aren't though. :nervous:

This render is :yuck:. The GDB Type III aka "Hawkeye" I'd the best to look at, I'm thinking between this one or the "Teareyes" GDB-II STi.

But the rest you just hit the nail on the head Wolfe. And I totally agree. But I don't think they will go with this sedan render. I hope not, but the new wagon looks good (the silver one) though. Just need to see the rest.

@VspecZR1GT2RS89: Whether it's real or not, the render is definitely exaggerated concept-car-style. You have to imagine how they'd tone it down. Maybe picture a cross between that blue car and the 2013 Impreza you can find on the street today; I know the WRX/STI is rumored to become its own model, but it's still gonna be built on the same platform. That's how Subaru rolls.

Funny thing, I used to be indifferent to the GD bugeye and thought the type 2 was an improvement, and I made fun of the type 3 when it first appeared. Now the type 3 is my favorite, followed by the bugeye, and I find the type 2 the lamest of the three.

I hear they are killing off the hatch wrx. Pretty dumb, if true.

To be fair, it only recently became a hatch, and the reaction when they did so seemed mostly negative. However, I think people have grown to like it.

Crank the look and feel down by about three notches, and well, you've got a Subaru sports coupe unlike anything the brand has ever had. Unless you count the 22b. But we didn't get that here.

I'm just wondering where the ad wizards think the sales are going to come from. As much as they may think that separating the WRX away from the Impreza makes sense on paper, the reality of that issue is that the WRX is a reasonably affordable and reasonable step up from the top-trim Impreza. This turns everything up on it's head.

What we've got here is a WRX that'll start somewhere around $40,000 with more than 300 BHP, and will target a consumer that is rapidly disappearing. It's like Subaru is pretending to be Reagan, out-spending Mitsubishi's Gorbachev into oblivion. Sure, the BRZ still exists to lure in twentysomethings like myself that want a competent sports car. If they want to do an Impreza RS with a lower output turbocharger, that'd be great. If they're really that committed to making the WRX that much of a different car, so be it. But without some kind of practical, affordable, and sporty Subaru available somewhere in the middle... I think Subaru is killing off a good number of sales.

I like it. That little bump towards the back needs to go but other than that it's nice.

I don't like the whole "wide stance, skinny greenhouse" effect going on in the back. At this point the only thing I like is the nose. :indiff:

You're thinking about usdm sti. Wrx hatch was always available.

I think this could prove to be correct. Way more than half of wrxs and stis I see are hatches.
They are a unique blend of performance, utility, and price. I'll wait for more details though.

Wait, I thought it was just a rendering?

I still think the front needs revising. Maybe if they took the front from the Impreza concept, fixed it up a bit, and then put it on the WRX.

The profile looks much better than the WRX concept, IMO.

Looks more like it should be badged a new Legacy/Liberty or bringing back the SVX in sedan mode.

And i must say I am not impressed.

It looks like the car is trying to be something that it is not. Subaru Impreza in my eyes is a rugged rally bread car and not a luxury car. This design just isn't Subaru. I mean it looks good for a luxury car per say. The 2010 model still is hard to consider a rally car to this day in my eyes. I feared after seeing the 2010 model that they would never be the same and they would go more luxury style in the future. To be honest I wouldn't probably ever consider the new design to be a rally car. Just doesn't fit the personality of the design of you catch my drift

I like the blue one. Now the only thing they need to do is make the wheels bronze. I like originality. :)

I'm not impressed. The front looks like something off the XF-RS, just revised, esp. the grille. And the basic overall shape of it looks sort of Evo-ish.

And those hips of the rear quarter panels. Goodness, they couldn't stick out anymore.

Looks a little advanced for rallying but better than the OP.

The rear end is awesome, sexy. I like how the taillights are slick and modern yet show heritage. I don't like the squished doors and coupe-like roofline with low rear visibility, but I'm sure that's just concept car material. The shark nose makes good on those lame pedestrian safety standards, like modern BMWs, looking purposeful and athletic. I like the whole design from the A-pillars up, but I hope those grille/bumper openings shrink a bit. The headlights (and the taillights) will probably turn to something more conventional, closer to the style of the current Impreza.

Ultimately I still expect the real car to resemble the 2013 Impreza more than this concept. Even if Subaru doesn't call it an Impreza anymore I seriously doubt a bespoke platform for the WRX is in the cards.

I like it but, I think this isn't a proper subie but, since the U.K. isn't getting any new subies it doesn't matter too much anyway.

Looks like an Elantra with an expensive bodykit. It's okay, but not my cup of tea.
