So to be clear, we can only run the new EU race if we are both present? And when is it? Friday or Today?

Friday, I believe. I think it's probably fair for you guys to run whatever you want, you were both eligible to run in the Monday GMT race and this is the same race just moved to a different day. You and Yuri are in a very close battle for first place, I have no problem with letting you guys duke it out over the next 3 races but if Yuri can attend all 3 and you can only attend 1 it does slant things in his direction (or vice versa). Yuri's work schedule is very random so I guess it depends on what his availability will be for the next couple days. If he can run all 3 and you can run all 3, I say "have at it boys". 👍

What happens if we tie in points?

We will use most wins as a tie-breaker. If you both have the same number of wins we will go by most pole positions. If you have the same number of poles we will go by most second places, third places, etc.

Right now you guys are tied on pole positions but Carr has 1 more victory than Yuri. So it's going to be very close!

Pulled my cappy out of the garage and spun a few laps, blew out the cobwebs to get ready for the upcoming season. 👍

^ I'm not sure what I'm doing for next season yet, but it likely won't involve the Cappy's. Now that I've branched out a little bit and driven some cars besides the Capp I've realized how fun this game can be. :dopey: lol

I think a Shelby Series One series would be fun 👍

I'm on call 24/7 so I can't commit to any particular race. Odds are very good, I'll be available for Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Odds for tomorrow are maybe 50/50 and I can't make the call until just before race time.

I drove the Shelby pretty near stock with just some engine upgrades to get it to 500pp for the Time Trial and it was a nice car...a bit loose but quite fun to drive.

Some of us are going to be practicing the RS200 for Sunday's VCRC race in my lounge now if anyone wants to join. Anybody can join, and you can run something else around 435pp on SH if you want.

I vote for anything that starts with Nissan and ends with Z, but ill be happy to finish last in any car chosen.

Practice? Practice! Who practices for a race?

So did we ever 100% lock down a GMT race for tomorrow?

^I'm not sure who can make it from the euro crowd beside MikaelK. Did anyone reach out to T3Z?

I don't know if it's just me, but the Gran Turismo 350Z RS seems like a good car for a one-make restricted-tuning type series, outside of the obvious RMs and TCs. It looks racy out of the box, can be painted, is good to drive, a little faster and tougher to drive than the Alfa, is FR.

The Amuse 380RS SL is much the same, but faster, harder and looks even more extreme.

I honestly couldn't care less about what to race. Just has to be spec (preferably with tuning prohibited), on weekdays, decently organized and co-drivers that value clean racing above all else.

Yes, the GMT-race is locked to Friday 9pm GMT / 4pm EST.

At least the host is ready (Owen), and definitely one other driver (me)... And there are declared intensions to participate from bdub, yuri, carracer and you... 👍

So at least the 2 of us are going to show up, just not sure how many else is actually coming.
If all above does show up, that alone makes 6 drivers :D

At this time I am more interested in a non-series league. Where each week is a different car and there are no point totals. Allow for some driving of more cars instead of the same one over and over. Speaking of the Z cars, the Gran Turismo one in the new dealership would be fun, or even the Academy version.

This is more the direction I'm leaning right now. Honestly, the way they keep changing/breaking the game every few weeks has made it very difficult to run a points series. Throughout this whole season we've had to constantly make changes and compromises after updates and while we had an all time high number of participants we had to limit the number of drivers allowed in each race. It's been very frustrating on my end and has had a negative impact on my enjoyment of the season.

But what do we do instead? This is the big question. The weekly points series format seems to be the most popular, there are really only a few successful "clubs" and they all use different formats. We've been discussing various options internally but haven't come up with anything real solid. We've had some good ideas but some of them are too complicated, I firmly believe that the more work we require from the members and stewards the less successful it will be. I've never asked anything from you guys more than showing up and racing and I've built things on my end so it requires as little work from me as possible (thanks RDAardvark) and I think that's why we've been so successful and had 4 complete, solid seasons with well over 20 drivers each time.

One of the simplest things to do is just remove the points and a lot of these issues go away. We could still have our regular race nights/times, but we wouldn't have to worry about a points contender getting locked out of a full room, we wouldn't have to worry about cancelling a race due to low turnout or a host's schedule conflicts, we wouldn't need rules about not racing more than once in a night, we wouldn't be locked into driving the same car every week, we wouldn't have to worry about somebody's mistake costing a points contender their chances at a victory, and most importantly we wouldn't have to make new rules and procedures after every update.

That's pretty much the only solid idea I've come up with so far. We basically keep things the same but remove the points and every week or two I select a different car or cars that we can race during that time. Members could make suggestions for cars too, or I could put up a poll with a select 3 or 4 cars and everyone could vote on what they want to race for the next couple weeks. Vintage cars, street cars, race cars, karts, we could cover it all and get to enjoy each selection for couple weeks and then move on to a new one. I could recruit 5 or 6 capable hosts so we're not dependent on one or two people to host all the races, if we get enough hosts we could even have races almost every night, at both US and UK friendly times.

I haven't thought about it much further than that so I haven't fleshed out all the potholes and loopholes, but I'm not sure if there would be too many. This plan gets rid of a lot of the commitment and headaches that go along with a weekly points series and it's something I'd like to try for a little while. If it's a flop then we could go back to a points series but it could turn out to be even more fun without the points.

Thoughts? Feedback? Suggestions? I'm just thinking out loud here, throwing stuff against the wall. But racing with you guys is what keeps me turning on the PS3(s) every day and I don't want that to end. I just want some of the frustrations to go away.

I would like to conform the I'm racing today in both the EU and hopefully NA time slots today. If there is room.

May I suggest this as an option for what we do next as a group?

^ I soooo wish we had an open-wheeler like that in the game!! It's near the very top of my "GT5 wishlist".

The Suzuki Escudo on slicks, at Eiger short track in the rain might make for a comparable drive.

You should try shuffling sometime B, helps to get away from the monotony of spec racing.

It would become more like a club then a league it sounds. I'm all for that but I'd imagine some are here for the points though too, so you may lose some. A new car every week with tuning prohibited would be much more fun in my book.

Another thing I didn't like about this season is the time between the Tuesday races and the Friday-Saturday races. When the Tuesday only crowd was done we may have wanted to move onto practicing the next weeks track, but most were still on this weeks track because of the Friday-Saturday races. It just seemed like races were always going on and it wasn't very conducive to getting all together and practicing, which is typically half the fun. I'm sorry if that was all confusion, not sure if my point got across.

That's a good point: It was even more frustrating for us in Europe during the Cappy season, with only Saturday available for racing and most if not all testing sessions being in the wee small hours. So whatever we do decide, we'd like it to be as inclusive as possible.

I think points motivate people to show up when otherwise they might sit it out. Say, another online bug hits and people might choose to wait until it is resolved etc. And weekday analog of the now-dead Concours Club might work. Basically different stock cars every week, no tuning, clean racing. They had'em from the recommended list, but it could be possible to open it up to new cars as well. Breaking in the car might be too much of an annoyance for some and given that 'tuning prohibited' allows engine downtuning, if we set the HP limit @new car with zero miles and an oil change, then the advantage from breaking-in should be small enough.

This is pretty close to what I've been thinking about. I know points may be the motivation for some people but we're really all here for some good racing and I think this might be a way to still provide the good racing but without some of the restrictions a points series necessitates. I think it would be great to be able to drive such a large variety of cars too. The recommended garage is a great possibility but I'd like to bring other cars to the mix as well. Maybe we could select cars from the OCD, everyone would have access to them and they'd all be at the same mileage, and we have a constantly rotating selection to choose from. Or anything from the NCD too, easy to acquire. And yes, I think the "tuning prohibited" option is here to stay for a while, it fits this kind of format very well since all we'd have to worry about is learning to drive it and not how to tune it. 👍

Yeah, OCD cars will work too.

You have a good point about setting the restrictions for the stock/no mileage numbers too. Sometimes it's a pain having to get a car broken in before a race, and my concept is that anybody will be able to grab a car and hop in a lounge at just about any time and do some racing. If we set the restrictions for the absolute base power it will make it easier because all you'd have to do is purchase the car and take it to the track ready to race. We can adjust the power limiter down and still make it onto the track with "tuning prohibited" so that would work fine.

So keep points table and just make it a series where every week is a new car/track for X number of weeks. At the end of each season, the winners get prizes and we start over, with new cars/tracks every week. Keep the same format of two races per night, possibly a sprint and enduro versus two sprints - keep inversion for second race, same points structure and race nights. People can race as much or little each week, space permitting.

Incorporate a theme for each week that plays to specific cars/tracks...
