I know what you mean. I screwed up big towards the beginning of the race. I thought that was the deal closer for me. Maybe I did push a little too hard at the end, but it was all good fun none-the-less. I'm glad you didn't take it personal. The way I see it is "This is racing. Things will happen. Sometimes it's beneficial, but most times not. Even professionals make mistakes, so we're far from perfect."

Plus, you did lag big in front me at one point. It was very scary.

Wow, life affirming...

I should try to control my temper, but some people...

What I really don't find funny is that I wasted my night getting heated up over a game that's several years old, on a system that's several years older than that, with terrible terrible tire wear and glitches that cause people to smash into each other from other dimensions.

Im seriously looking into PC racing really soon because of all this. I really feel like ive experienced all GT5 has to offer and im just not impressed by it anymore when you compare it to whats out there. Im gonna read up on rfactor and iracing and make see which one id like better. But i guess a lot of you do rfactor already so that might make my decision easier.

Weird race. I got taken out by Pipi but recovered. GT dudes please don't swerve! I rammed a couple of you trying to pass. If you see an lmp stay in your lane. We'll go around! The Ford IMO could use 30kg more weight. Reducing HP does nothing, it has over 700lb-ft of torque! It's the superb handling that gives it the edge, not it's straight line speed. Also the invite for my other series stands to anyone interested. That's all I have to say.

You got what?? you got a mistake and i try overtake you, when we are side by side you don't give me space for the brake and i lose control of the car, simple like that! your problem is that, you don't respect the GT drivers, they are part of the race!! and you need to understand that 👍

So, I'll wait to see what happens to Yera & Mock for their horrible driving... I was on pace, but, my temper ****** me up bad today.

TT13, you had lost. You were last for the whole race. Instead, you hit me in the Michael S S-Kurve, brake checked me, and spun out... Haha, YOU'RE SO CLEAN, I MISTOOK YOU FOR A CHAMBER POT.

I'm going to have to take TT and Yera's side.

I think I missed a good show? The GTP Indy 500 went for 3+ Hours

Wow Yera, how fast were you taking those corners!? Schumacher S you had a full 8 mph on me!!!

Anyway, I'm going to walk through the whole lap three incident as I watch it. I was in the mix, which my suspicions tell me is what was going on with it. Ok, so here goes:

Heading into the first corner, I dive in on the inside of Yera after taking a huge draft boost, taking first position over Yera with Melancholy trying to follow my line through. Mel gets a nose in front of Yera, who has the inside line to Turn 2, while I have some room ahead to take advantage of. Yera holds the inside into turn 3, catching up on me mid turn before my cover of the apex slows him enough for Mel to get close behind through Turn 4. Leading through Turn 5, I've pulled slightly away, while Mel and Yera take different lines into Turn 6; Melancholy on the inside, Yera on the Outside. Yera's line sees him prevail, and Mel tucks in close behind him into and through Turn 7 at Ford Kurve. At Turn 8 (Dunlop Kehre) Mel, Yera and myself take comfortable lines through behind one another, with nobody really fighting for position at this time. Through Schumacher S, Yera closes the gap on me and pulls away from Mel, but doesn't have the space to overtake me through Turns 11 (RTL) or 12 (Warsteiner), by this time something happens to Mel and he moved down the pecking order from 3rd to 7th. Yera sublimely overtakes me on the inside of the NGK-Schikane, takes the final corner and leads going into lap 4.

Oooooh, I just noticed the start of lap 6. Kev, did you get caught heavily in my draft by any chance? You seriously whacked me coming into the first hairpin, which didn't do my tyres any good.

I just watched the Lap 3 where Mel slipped back a few places. It was a run wide out of Schumacher S and onto the gravel. I'm surprised that nobody piled into him, actually, he lost a lot of speed there.

Has anyone watched me/Mel incident yet? It's the first time we collide I believe in the fast lefthander before the slower righthander. Im anxious to get an official ruling and put this out of the way. The other times after are just...yeah....

You're funny. I laugh at your suggestion I don't respect GT drivers. You couldn't even control your car. How do you smash someone while braking on a straight away? I could see if it was rear ending me, but you couldn't complete a pass without sending me to the grass. You had space, you just blew it. I don't care, you got your little win. I had 2 more stops than you and had to answer my door. 30 seconds behind you is damn close for what my race turned out to be. You have an advantage in that Audi at these types of tracks, its clear. You can get 1:46's in your car easily, I couldn't get below 1:47.0xx with 1/8 tank. You need to understand where to put your car when you try to overtake. No one said I'd make it easy for you. 👍

Yeah... I agree. "Put this out of the way."

Why is there so much damn hostility in here, starting to give the series a black eye.

Yeah... I agree. "Put this out of the way."

I for one am done being hostile. Getting personal during the race was a huge bonehead mistake. We need to have a short memory, take away what we can from this and move on. I'll be in classes next week and am almost sure not to make the Madrid race, which will be a sufficient cooling off period for me. Even call it a penalty if you like.

About Madrid, I tested the V12 Vantage and was getting 1:22's at 550 bhp and 1400kg. I dunno how fast or slow that is...

Sure man you are the best :sly:

If I was going to make the swich to a pc sim I would def go with rfactor2. Iracing seems good but its car selection is soooo limited. Also if I could afford it atm Id just be on forza 4 lots of selection and not to mention more up to date racing cars, just dont want to pay for xbox live.

iRacing is very good from what I hear. But you have to pay a subscription. rFactor is just a one time fee. No idea if RF2 will be that way.

Yeah i havent read into the key differences on the two games all that much. But iracing just seems more structured and geared toward giving people a more realistic feel to have a career as a driver. They hold official events and different classes that you have to graduate from in order to run with the big boys. Graphically iracing is amazing as well, but yeah the cars are very limited and im not sure if you can make them custom or not. I think you can though.

Im not buying a PC for a while anyway, so im just looking at what they have to offer. Theres actually a video on YT where they did a real Daytona 500 with live commentary the whole race. Try that ish with GT5 lol

50% off now for a years subscription, pretty good value for a realistic race experience. I mean, people pay for a COD game twice that price every year.
Kevin is right though, i haven't played it, but from what i have gathered, it is a lot more organised for Multiplayer racing.

I can't dis iRacing, but if you're looking for a similar experience to this series, only closer to real, rFactor/enduracers I think is the best bang for your buck currently.

iRacing is amazing in a lot of ways, especially if you dig oval/NASCAR type racing, which I think is its biggest draw (a lot of the cash races with commentary and all that are NASCAR, as well as some of the pro drivers). The street racing is fun but you pretty much have one-make races or multi-class races, and that's it.

In enduracers all the cars in certain GT classes are homologated to each other so you don't have to all be in the same car. With leoffb mod you also upgrade the physics feel for a steering wheel to be on par with iRacing, if not a little better (some argue).

rFactor 2 will just be better altogether. I think iRacing will lose some people to that game whenever the heck the full version is released.

This series has been fun for as long as I've been in it. It started to decline with tires, and the online glitches. Not the series itself, just the game, which made endurance racing really upsetting on GT5.

I never realized how off the physics were until I spent a while in PC land. Then to come back after a long break, and realize you have to adopt your old bad habits--the ones you can't get away with over there--to do well. Cars don't behave like they should, especially in regards to how tires affect throttle and steering input. The grass is like ice rather than like grass. All these things combined and then start glitch-punting each other...

I know I'm not on my own internet, but I can promise I've never had these problems in rFactor, where the races are longer and the graphics more intensive.

Anyway I'll finish out this season and think seriously about next season, if there is one.

Newegg has some good deals on gaming PC's that you put together yourself. I ended up buying one already built for $750.00. But from Best Buy. They were having a sale. :)

I bought my PS3 for GT5 alone. So PS3 $350.00 (bundle) + G27 $230.00 + GT5 60.00 = $640.00. And then whatever DLC I bought. So lets just say $650.00 for one game.

I also want to either build my own cockpit or buy a Playseat and have a separate TV dedicated to just racing along with a cheap surround sound. So whatever that ends up being, add that on to the $650.

Im researching them now, gaming PC's are getting cheaper these days. Ill look into that new egg site, i think ive bought stuff there before. Some of these people are using 3 monitor displays with all kinds of bells and whistles to make it a real cockpit, crazy stuff. I intend on using my plasma tv as my monitor though so all i really need is the computer itself. Video cards come with HDMI now 👍 Plus ill be using my DFGT wheel.

I've never really been able to afford a gaming PC. Well, while I had a job, I did some Honda karting (10 mp/h slower than Rotax.)

I built my PC with my brother for around $600 case included, maybe a little more. But I got some unnecessary stuff like a temperature gauge that controls fan-speed automatically based on what you're doing. We basically saved a lot through new egg by going second-gen or the line of parts just prior to the newest one. My video card runs DOOM3 and Alice:MAdness Returns just fine, but might have trouble with Crysis. But I don't mind and sometimes I don't even play graphic-intensive games. I was born among the DOS/Nintendo/Super NES/N64/ time when graphics were still a coming-of-age thing, so a lot of the games I loved growing up with didn't look photo-realistic.

For gaming, I say build your own or team up with someone who can (maybe pay them with a six-pack or something).

Exactly how I did it. Just wait for the new stuff to come out and go buy the old stuff. And then upgrade when your not happy. 👍

Yeah ive built a few pc's before, the first was a pentium II 450mhz processor, 64mb ram and a blazing 16mb video card. I would play tiger woods 99 all night lol. Whats funny for almost the same price now you can get something 20x better. Im thinking i can build a good gaming pc for about $800 that exceeds rfactor's recommended specs. I might end up getting both rfactor 2 and iracing, or at least trying them out.
