I've seen some great arguments here as to why the obvious is not the obvious but something else...

The fact is, the online time trials are introduced as a competition of driving in GT5 with certain cars... What we're witnessing here has got nothing to do with driving in GT5 with certain cars.

Any competition ceases to have meaning when it's rules are defeated...

And the pleasure for the ones who cheat is to see their names on top of other names... Nothing more... I've read posts here saying how they like to spark controversy... They don't... They haven't thought it through that much...

P.S. I've also read here that, this isn't a problem because you know which times are legit so you can figure it out... You can't... Not for times outside the top 10... Think about it

P.S.2 I've also seen people saying that PD is more to blame than the cheaters... In a bank robbery, you don't put the security guards in jail, do you..?

I couldn't be bothered fretting about the time trials leader boards because of all the cheating that goes on. I just gold them, take the prizes & move on.

Why didnt they just update the tracks with a continuous solid invisible wall around the inside and outside of the tracks where your not supposed to go, from building custom GTR tracks on the PC I know thats not difficult to do

im not on about glitches as the game is full of them. i mean they are actually cheating against other folk. us, not the computer players, glitching will be done in any game. but cheating needs to be stopped. why spoil it for the rest of us???

Quite easy actually. If you search for Suzuka glitch on YouTube, you'll find some videos on how to do it. It's like the fixed glitch on Nürburgring; few metres away from the finish line is a way to get behind the wall, then just drive some circles around the track and finish line - that's it.

I don't think so. 52 seconds on Suzuka sounds reasonable in a 500PP car, consindering the current time trial has a 54 second gold for an 850hp Nascar.

I expect a more nimble 500PP car could do a 52 second lap.

If you can sqeeze abit more from the car, you can actually hit the lower 40s. Some of the fastest guys prior to the glitches had 47s and one pulled a 46.

At 500pp on comfort tires, I don't think so. NASCAR's on RH with 850 HP were pulling legit 46's ... 500pp has what, about 400 hp max?

Plus which Suzuka configuration? Suzuka East is short, the full track is pretty long.

That sounds reasonable. I was being conservative, but just wanted the OP I quoted to know a 52 second lap was able to be done without glitching. Thanks for the further clarification. 👍

I do agree, it takes away from what I really think would have been one of the best Time Trials in a long time.

As far as I know PD doesn't have the ability to dish out any punishments (if they are anything like Zipper (developer of Socom 4)): they would have to fill out detailed reports and send them up the foodchain to a branch at Sony proper. I doubt anything will happen to these cheaters. They probably have experience or an understanding of how Sony works for them not to be afraid of cheating when they know a video record is kept of their cheating. If PD simply removes the time trial that's quite a kick in the ass to the legit racers.

I can't really blame PD myself, sure it's a glitch but at the end of the day it's the idiots who decide to use it, nobody is holding a gun to their heads. Who really cares if they are top anyway? Everybody who can see the leader board knows quite clearly the legitimate times from the glitched times, we know who is really top and that's all that matters.

You can't tell for 100% sure if they intentionally cheat ! Most of them probably do.., BUT aslong as there is a slim chance that this glitch can happen to the unaware..., PD SONY look out with banning. I see it as a death sentence...., okay when it happens to guilty people, but -in the end- they aren't always guilty, and that's what you CAN and MUST avoid. Simply by building a proper barrier around the track, not by banning people !!!

Maybe he used the same glitch, maybe he used another one (actually you can go behind every wall on that track...).

I agree but at the same time its a bit shltty that you cant view the legitimate fastest replay/ghost.

I did it fair and on my first lap got a 51 second lap. I got gold and currently I'm 7,000th in the world. Eh. I know I'm not the best GT5 racer there is and I'm not gonna moan about it. People who think that they must do "anything possible" in order to be the best (including cheating, stealing, etc.) aren't the type of people I praise anyways. I understand many people are upset about this but getting overworked about it won't help.

Lets hope in the next patch these holes in the floor are sealed over, even I'd take that over saving in the middle of the race if it means that time trials would be completely fair once again since the possibility to exploit glitches are gone.

I agree, however if they just wait until the event is over and clear all the names of the cheaters from the results then it makes cheating useless when the event is easy enough to get the rewards.

This glitch is actually quite useful, for example if you want to gold Vettel challenge on Suzuka or still need to do the Suzuka 1,000 km.

BUT CHEATING IN THE RANKING LIST IS DUMB!

Suzuka is the only course in the Vettel challenge I haven't/can't "medal" - I would LOVE to complete it.
