Yes that is what I have noticed, however I feel another 2-3 mm of cut on the metal object will completely get rid of the noise, but I am happy with the noise I am experiencing now, and very happy with the wheel in general :)

Oh, and there are 2 fans in the wheel, the one that makes the noise is the one that can be seen from the vent and in the picture. I have highlighted the paper washers as mentioned by Fanatec, as these things really cut down a lot of the noise.

Fanatec can you tell me what is that red residue on top of the screws ?

Thanks.

my guess is that is some sort of glue which prevents the screws from loosening due to vibrations

Can somebody check if I got the Porsche wheels hard mounting holes measured right from the drilling templates, or Thomas does this look correct? (why not add the dimensions to the templates btw?)

The holes are "too big" for purpose. I suppose all the Porsche wheel use the same mounting holes (measures)?

Any reason why the gt3rsv2 isn't officially supported on the ps3?

Codemasters have tested our wheels on the PS3 as well and they work fine. They just had no time enough to make the full test program and therefore cannot put it on the list for PS3 controllers.

Fanatec any chance of answering my question above, post number 2071 ?

Thanks.

*ibo* S3 Racer is right. It is a form of adhesive made to keep screws from loosening from vibrations (also to protect against rust, etc).

I do not know exactly what product Fanatec uses but the one I am familiar with is Loctite Threadlocker. My Madcatz TE arcade stick (for street fighter) uses the same thing. It is just that these products are subject to a lot of vibration so it just keeps things from getting loose.

Yes thanks, I missed *ibo* S3 Racer's post, so thanks to you both 👍

I have been looking at a few threadlockers over the last few days, as I wanted to use a threadlocker to secure the screws that holds the wheel into the hub. I noticed the same type of red residue on the hub screws when I was dismantling the wheel. I think the one that Fanatec use is either This, This, This, or This

so this is ok for rfactor and LFS , do they have their own drivers or something?
the pedals look amazing, but the wheel looks just like their 911 wheel without the suede steering wheel,
its a pity fanatec make the best pedals, but crap wheels, and logitech make great wheels, but average pedals. they should both collaborate make super wheels :P

what I would like to see is wheels coming out in real size!!, I don't like initial D or midnight R but what I did like is the wheel size, its amazing to have a real wheel and awesome FFB, when its little you still feel to gamey. so I commend the guys for making those real F1 steering wheels, they are a work of art, and are real size. so next is real size wheels PLEASE

Although I am not sure who told you that our wheels are "crap" I can assure you that it is easy to make real size wheels if you are prepared to pay real size prices ;)

Sorry to inform you that fanatecs wheels aren't crap. Infact they are better than Logitechs. They have bigger wheels too

And if you replace the wheel for a bigger one you mess up with the FFB as they were not calibrated for the bigger wheel.
There are F1 wheels on the market too, but you shovel out a lot more money and are restricted. (Never saw a F1 wheel on a road car)

I will have some more question about the turbo s for you guys. I try to reunite them and than post everything together later

^^^ I agree with Ibo. Since i still have g25, and turbo S, i can honestly say that Turbo S is better, regarding FFB, feeling and other things. Pedals are not from this world :-) (CSP), they are brilliant. The only thing i don't like is shifter, it's still better then G25 but, in my opinion it isn't in the same league as wheel and pedals, and i am eagerly awaiting for their new shifter.

Bring it on Thomas ;).

Yep, the Turbo S wheel is a country mile ahead of the Logitech G25.

I remember one day I got fed up with GT5P and the Logitech G25. I was using the G25 with the F2007 (Formula 1) car and realised that there is a 900 Degree turn and lots of wheel movement whilst driving in a straight line. At the time I really wanted to play with a wheel that a allowed a 180 degree lock so I purchased a Logitech Driving Force Pro.

After manually setting the DFP to a 180 Degree lock it was impossible to control the F2007 car. There was so much movement whilst driving in a straight line I gave up with that wheel as well.

It was only a few weeks ago I used the Turbo S with the F2007 car, and what a joy it was. I was able to set the wheel to 180 Degree turn and set the deadzone to around 30 and it was perfect. There was minimal wheel movement whist driving in a straight line and I could take the hairpin at Suzuka with ease 👍

Sorry I just had to let everyone know

On the subject of Formula 1, I am really looking forward to F12010, so much that I will end up with the game on both console platforms

If Logitech want to compete with Fanatec then they need to start negotiations with M$ :yuck:

The best thing about a wheel is upgradeable firmware, and wheel tunning options, beside that it's bigger then g25 and has more buttons.

Although I am not sure who told you that our wheels are "crap" I can assure you that it is easy to make real size wheels if you are prepared to pay real size prices ;)

Yes perhaps "crap" was a bit out of line and harsh, I apologize for that remark.
how is the sales in Australia going? have you got distributors etc yet?
as I am in Oz and I am trying to fix my G25 pedal plug, If I can't I will be in the market for a new wheel. will fanatec be in Australia before Nov2?
and is there a new shifter coming? as someone said in this thread the shifter could be improved??

and could you do a life size GT3 wheel ? maybe you should offer that as an option, for extra 30 buks or whatever it would cost?? how much to make one? or even say 13 Inches, is the GT3 wheel 11" like the G27?.
I would love a bigger wheel on G25 /G27 and fanatec as well

The wheels are already shipping to Autralia and will be available shortly. We sent PWTS, CSPs and Wheel Stands.

We are working on a high-end shifter but it will not be released this year. Perhaps we can make a prototype. It is likely that we will make more wheels and wheel rims in future and perhaps even bigger ones.

Hello Fanatec guy

Quick question

I send out email about GT3 RS V2 Upgrade kit, and I got back an Email

Thank you for your interest in purchasing a kit to upgrade the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3RS to version 2. When the estimated shipping date of these kits is officially confirmed we will come back to you with payment and shipping instructions.

What is that Date?

Also I can't wait for the kit to arrive. Finnaly I can play GT5 without changing the date.
Also the ABS vibration Motor on the ClubSport pedals, with the V2 RS wheel, would I be able to turn it on and off for a console game? I hear something about Turbo S that you could turn it on for any game, any console, but you just had to preset the percentage on when the ABS vibration should turn on. Will it be the same with RS V2 kit that I will get and install myself? Thanks

@NoxNoctis
The kits will arrive in late October. We will put it in our shop very soon for ordering it.

@BlacqueJacqes
We do sell to Canada

Thomas

Oh man kinda a long wait, but I hope I receive it before GT5 arrives :)
Thanks Thomas for the reply , way better then Logitech guys with Automated email BS!

By the way, any collaboration with Polyphony Digital guys?

Hopefully Fanatec is in collaboration with PD on implementing the best ffb :)

So here is my first batch of questions i can think of at the moment :

How to connect the whole to the PC ( wheel and pedal seperate USB, or pedals connected to wheel and wheel to PC)?

How long can the screws to hard mount the wheel be?

In what consoles games the FFB on the brake pedal work?

What is the firmware the wheel came with ?
Do i gain a lot from updating ? Or can it pose more problems since it still in beta status (i didn't get shaking on straits in Gt5P)?
And if i would upgrade, will it work with win7 x64 or must it be Xp 32 bit?

The same questions for the CSP firmware.

In the vid from Thomas about the CSP, you can change the throw of the pedals:
When moving it up one hole will the throw be longer or shorter (longer right?)?

------
This doesn't concern the wheel:

On Forza 3 : with the 900°, did someone noticed that the steering, moving of the wheel is not 1:1 (in GT5P it is exact). It does turn a lot in the first 180/210° (on the wheel, than nothing for a certain number of degrees, than again a big step, and on the last 90-180° on the wheel it does nothing on screen.
I noticed in the menu you can change the deadzones, played a bit with it but all it did was making it worse not better. Did you tweak something in there?

Don't know if i expressed me clearly here!?
And defenitifly a game problem and not wheel related (as in GT5P it is 1:1)

Thanks

When i got more question i will stalk you again ;)
my impression will be posted later + pics as i didn't have time to try all my racing games out yet.
But really impressed so far :D

And what is it lately that everybody opens his own thread about thing that could easily fit in existing threads? (lot threads on first page about cockpit recommandations :S)

Thomas, is there a way to reduce the brake pedal travel. I know that I can change the sensitivity but i would like the travel to be smaller!?

So here is my first batch of questions i can think of at the moment :

How to connect the whole to the PC ( wheel and pedal seperate USB, or pedals connected to wheel and wheel to PC)?

Either way is fine. I usually hook everything up to the wheel, and then a USB from the wheel to the PC.

How long can the screws to hard mount the wheel be?

Not sure exactly. Mine were a bit too long, so I used some washers to take up the extra space.

In what consoles games the FFB on the brake pedal work?

There is no FFB in the brake. There is a Rumble effect when you press the brake past a certain point. If you turn on your wheel (and turn on the ABS feature), before turning on a game, you will notice how much pressure is required to activate the rumble. I believe only a few PC games actually use game data to activate the rumble.

What is the firmware the wheel came with ?

Turbo S? or GT3RS V2?

It doesn't matter which firmware you have. Every wheel will notice oscillating on the straights in GT5:P unless you add "deadzone" in the wheel settings.

Beta status?

The same questions for the CSP firmware.

In the vid from Thomas about the CSP, you can change the throw of the pedals:
When moving it up one hole will the throw be longer or shorter (longer right?)?

No...

Shorter. Much shorter. (you should read my review, it explains all of this)

There is nothing you can do. Forza 3 has a built in "steering buffer" that helps you steer depending on various situations. Furthermore, as you said, the 900 degrees in Forza, is hardly a true 900. Most of the steering is done in the first 270 degrees, and then the ratio shrinks and the rest of the steering angle is hardly used (not like GT5:P or any other 900 degree enabled game at all). You can mess with the deadzones a bit and make it feel a bit better. However, Forza 3's steering will always be it's weak point.

Thomas, is there a way to reduce the brake pedal travel. I know that I can change the sensitivity but i would like the travel to be smaller!?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=129773

I explain how to shorten the throw in my review/guide.

You either need the Tuning Kit, or you have to move the brass bar up one peg (shortens the throw a lot).

;)

Here's my story, hope you guys can help:

I recently got the Turbo S, but now when I turn the on button it begins to calibrate (as usual) but it stops before it goes back to the center. It stays pulling to the left.
My PC doesn't recognize it as connected.

I HAVE however updated the firmware by starting it in the bootloader mode and it was recognized by my PC then, but it can't be used for racing then.

If you guys have anything please post it.

Thanks.
