Any stores planning a midnight launch?

Just called Walmart, they will definitely have it in stock and they are expecting lots of people, hot damn... Edit: Tonight that is.
 
Still nothing reported about launch in Brazil. Optimist rumours say it will be released Saturday, pessimist says it will be released "any date in December"
 
I only have one Gamestop thats doing a midnight release. But there is also 2 Best Buys nearby doing it as well and I live in a highly populated area.
 
I will be at walmart after work to check if they have in stock, if not then i will be going to target at 8am to check if they have it in stock.... If not again, at 10am I will be at Gamestop it is.

Good Idea, I have one on my way home too (although I believe they have a computer programed trigger to sell after the 24th starts- God I can't stand Walmart arghhh :drool:

Anyone know if Walmart carries / is going to carry the Collectors Edition?
If so I might go there tonight and get a refund at GameStop the next day. If not I'll wait because I definitely do want the CE.

man, this game is turning me into a little boy who is severely impatient.
 
My local GameStop where I have my CE pre-ordered is NOT staying open til midnight. They open at 10am, which is when I am at work. I get to leave work early, but only because I have an appointment to donate blood. After that I have to meet my wife for dinner and then she wants us to go out since we don't have to work the next day. I will have to stop by GameStop to pick it up, but won't have any time to play it. It looks like my first crack at GT5 will be Thursday, but most of that day will be spent with family at my parents house. I am one of the people that refuses to leave the house on Black Friday, so hopefully that will be when I really get start playing.

Just got an automated phone call from Gamespot to remind me about picking up the game tomorrow @ 10AM.. nahhh lol
 
Well, my nearest Gamestop (Wayne, NJ) has my pre-order in but they won't sell it early (big surprise) and they're not doing a midnight launch either. My wife is a total doll--on her way home from work, she actually drove past the nearest Best Buy, then Wal-Mart and then Target, just so she could check if she could nab a copy early. She even tried to sweet-talk the guy behind the counter at Best-Buy. LOL Unfortunately, no dice.

Best Buy tried to claim they don't even have any in stock (their website claims otherwise).

Wal-Mart claimed they would only sell it 'tomorrow' even though they're open 24 hours. I wish I could have seen that one.

My wife: So if you're open 24 hours I can come back and buy it at midnight?
Wal-Mart clerk: Uh, no, you have wait, uh, until tomorrow.
My wife: But at midnight it WILL be tomorrow.
Wal-Mart clerk: Ahhh...well...no, you'll have to wait until the morning.
My wife: But...why can't we buy it at midnight.
Wal-Mart clerk: 'Cause we can't sell it until tomorrow.
My wife: :ouch::banghead:

Oh brother. I wonder if he's going to have a real revelation on New Years Eve. LOL

Oh, and Target tried to sell her a copy of Prologue.

There's two Best Buys in Manhattan, and one of them is open 24 hours. I'm not sure which it is, but go to the best buy website, and also call them beforehand to confirm you can grab the game. I'd imagine you have a really good chance there. I considered doing it, but I really want to get on a decent sleep cycle, so I'll just buy the game tomorrow morning somewhere.
 
If Walmart fail to sell me the game tonight I will single handedly eat all their food in the food section.


...Its not a very good plan.
 
I just got a text message on my phone about being able to pick up my copy in the morning. Right afterward I called the store.

Gamestop chick "Thank you for calling gamestop where you can blah blah blah"
Me "I just have a quick question. Are you going to be doing a midnight release for Gran Turismo tonight?"
Gamestop chick "I think so tomorrow night."
Me "Tomorrow night? It would be tonight."
Gamestop chick "No it would be tomorrow night as it comes out on the 24th"
Me "Yea I know Today is Tuesday the 23rd at midnight tonight it will be Wednesday the 24th"
Gamestop chick takes the phone away from her mouth "Are we doing a midnight release for Gran Turismo"
Gamestop guy in the background "Yea tonight."
Gamestop chick "Tonight?"
Gamestop guy "yes tonight."

x2. One woman today told me that I should call tomorrow since the release date is tomorrow and it's illegal for them to sell it at midnight before the release date. Thanks, Incompetent Mrs. C***!! :dunce:
 
Just started calling around to all the Gamestops in my area (Phoenix, AZ), asking about a midnight release. Every one of them said they are NOT doing a midnight release...and here's their reason - due to low pre-orders (and they all admitted the low numbers were due to tons of people pulling their pre-orders when the release date was delayed).

SO...looks like I'll be gettting my copy at Wally World tonight at midnight, then picking up my C.E. tomorrow at Gamestop, taking all the extra stuff out to my car...including the code on the receipt for the bonus cars...then walking back inside and returning just the still-unopened game. That is, unless the C.E. disc is different from the normal edition disc. Guess I should do some searching of these here forums to find out, huh? lmao...obviously, my plan is not etched in stone as of yet, heh.

LOL That's my same plan except i need to kill about 7 hours and 15 mins from now! One gamestop doing a midnight release so i'm gonna end up with a Standard Edition and a CE.....someone will but it i suppose.
 
I can't find anyone in the lower mainland of Vancouver B.C. who is doing a midnight launch.. Also no stores will sell it early etc.. Still surprised how they do launches of other games and not GT but I must be stuck in the past. If anyone hears anything regarding a midnight launch within 2 hours of Vancouver (drive time) let me know preeeaassseeee.
