Its needs a much slower shutter speed than the 1/60th of second we get in photomode.
Best I can do is this:
 
yeah and play with the panning modes. In that shot I think I used mode 3. Point at the car travelling in the opposite direction and press square to focus on it, then move the camera to your car and shoot. Play around with it, you'll get the hang. Also the preview window looks nothing like the resulting picture when you click the shutter
 
Yep, that is as good as streaking will get with Photomode.

It would have been nice to have had the same shutter speed range as in Photo Travel, but, the "stepping" effect we are seeing is due to the way the engine is processing streaking; the stepping might look awful with a shutter speed any lower (or the same, just longer perhaps?), that is probably why PD have capped the shutter speed. I quite like it though, its different.
