Made it through the first two with our much grief, but the Subaru almost made me pull my hair out. i used RKM's setup...

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=136731&page=37

...but dropped the ride height to -15/-20. The car seemed more stable and less bouncy in the corners once dropped. I kept running mid 1:35s and missing first by .5 - 1 sec. After about 50 tries, i started using the pit lane on the inside for the first two corners and badda bing badda boom.

Knocked 1 second off each lap. 1:36.0 for the first lap and mid to high 1:34s for the rest. Just be careful when you brake down for the corner, if you dip your tire in the dirt, it can get pretty slick. But you can get on the gas so much earlier and you cut the radius of the corner.

Has anyone else noticed that running off track makes your tires lose grip for the next corner or two until you scrub off the dirt? I dont know if it became more noticable after the update or if it was just the sport hard tires.

The STI event I have now succeeded. Hard thing. The other two events I was able after the second or third try finish with gold. Not with this! I've tried many settings, in the end I tried with the settings of Rotary Junkie.
As long as I had to optimize the time so I could go low 1.35.
Here at the Forum was already written: "The first thing you must optimize, is what sits behind the wheel. "
I hope the PD will bring more such events. I got a lot of trouble for a Mazda 787B;-)

I got the 787B well chuffed, glad they are putting proper challenges in again I even enjoy winning racing suits! At least this one wasn't as hard as 'that Focus ST' one.

Finally beat it! By just 0.367 seconds, haha. Feels good. I'm keeping the level 23 ticket for my trades.

Didn't really bother with the settings too much, as my STi was already fully tuned. I lowered the power down to 394 HP, and added weight (14 for the exact setting). I put the weight ballast to 50. All driving aids off, but I adjusted the ABS up to 4 to smooth out the braking, lowered the ride height -15 on both sides, adjusted the diff. to 35/65, and the tranny set to 137 mph with taller gearing for acceleration, because chances are you won't go any any faster than +135 mph where the start/finish line is. The wing (set it to 0.05) helps too.

First lap was under 1:37, and my next four were under 1:36. Early braking and letting the car glide through the corners instead of late braking helps immensely. And never let your tires get on the dirt! Grip reduction will kill your speed in the long run.

The tune is for a wheel, and I'm on a controller... Honestly I hate to speak ill of an sti but I hate this car. Lol

This tune worked like magic for the wheel, (like you said) spent two days trying to tune myself, ended up kicking a few things around the house before I broke down and used rotary's tune and won on third try, thanks so much.

Try this setup, it makes the car handle MUCH better.

Look extreme but they turn the impreza into a katana

Still on it, but I haven't bought any power part yet (only oil change)... but now I have installed everything else, apart from FC LSD and torque distribution controller... just need to tweak the suspension... I think it is possible for me and it sure has to be possible for the very fast guys out there?!? Can someone confirm, please?

5 attempts then passed with DS3

Key point:Avoid Sand:)

It is fun! And I can beat the GTR easily, by around at least 5 seconds

0.8 seconds away, with definite room for improvement, Level 23 ticket is coming my way tonight :)

Just done it! 1.37.4..first lap then mid 1.35's the rest. Been nearly two hours though. Well worth it.

rule 4 4WD cars: if u got to much understeer (like with almost all 4WD cars) try to plit power. More power from the back makes the car dive in corners, well, not dive, but it makes it a lot batter usually

Rammed the NSX at full speed, last corner laguna seca, was in first gear and took off good in the grass, got 2nd.Im that bit off on all three.11sec to first in the laguna race.Only tried the races 3 times,Oh i read on another post try not to let the tyres squeel, its working for me as i speak.

DONE! A few days and about 5 playing hours later. My it felt good ramming that skyline on the last corner!

I used Rotary Junkie's setup eventually (many, many thanks), but changed the max speed to 260k.

And let us never speak of the Subaru ever again.......

Don't ram anyone off, take the corner normally and you may be surprised to find yourself outracing the AI to the finish line for the win.

took a bit of tuning, but ive golded all 3... 3 times.

2 accounts, and twice on one account since i lost my save data...

just keep it clean and do not go off the track!

Thanks to all the posts for tunes.I have a G25 and smoothness did it for me at laguna. The last 2 laps i was consevative with a few usual moments.I think the A spec races ive been doing(330 P4)you have to dodge the clowns(AI).Im sure thats what helped me at laguna because i was bangin into the cars to help me around the corners (first right hander twice) if the AI cars wernt there i was mowing the grass. The AI cars seem scared of me sometimes, they cant see my look through here can they?now to the prizes..

The first time I won gold in the SRX event it took a near photo finish as I passed the leader with about 100 yards to the finish line... Gap was 00.042:

OMFG!!!!!! Wow I FINALLY beat this with first four laps of 1.34's and last lap 1.35 but stupid 1.10 glitch wont let me finish the race. woooooooooooooow

W T F ! ! ! !

:banghead:I stupidly forgot I can add ballast and went ahead to buy another STI :banghead:

Kept running 1.36s or so, I'll try again tomorrow...

I haven't put too much time into GT5 lately, although I spent two hours on this yesterday (1 hr driving, 1 hr tweaking) only to come in 5th each time. What works for me are negative toes, weight transfer into corner, and slamming out of Apex in mid-rev gear. I could have came in 2nd or 3rd I suspect, had I managed more than one clean lap without the sand.

But I always knew Laguna to have sand on the track, I mean, a gust of wind can upset it. (that's what this game is lacking... WIND RESISTANCE!)

Will try some shared tunes here for the win, thx all for sharing.

Question: Must one power slide the corners for the win? is anyone winning with non-drifting cornering?
Would upping the ABS to a high value be considered an AID? I hate AIDS!

Power sliding the first left corner is fun in this car, but hard to negotiate at higher speeds. This car is going to make me deaf.

Current lap times a miserable 1:37-39-50...

👍 I tried 3 or 4 tunes, won with two - RJ and the above, but this gave me my consistently quickest lap times.

Subaru Gold - Check

A 908 for my troubles, and yes, I did resort to taking the Skyline out on the last corner, I lost my morals on this challenge days ago

Finally got the gold last night. I started the night expressing my hatred of the STi by painting it an ugly brown color (actually Dark Tan Metallic).

My winning tune ended up being a combo of a lot of ideas from this thread and others. The worst thing I did was make the ride height F: +20 R: -25. I am not proud of this, but it definitely got me around the first corner and some others much quicker. I also tried a variety of LSD settings independent of the suspension settings from the various tunes. It has such a huge affect on how this car goes into and comes out of corners that you have to get it right for your driving style.

I used ugabugaz tune. I changed the torque distrubution to 45 65 though and ended up running 1.34 xxx on the ds3 controller.

👍 Same here. Took a lot less attempts than the Elise. Did it in auto too. :)
Cheers to you ugabugaz.

I'm still 8 seconds off. This car has to be one of the worst handling cars I've driven, oversteering with every suspension and drivetrain setup here.

Just a couple tuning tips - go as light as possible, but when adding the ballast, move it all the way to the rear. The car is 60/40 front/rear after the lightening, it could use all that weight over the rear.

Don't go for the turbo - instead, modify the exhaust/intake/etc. and put an NA tune if you aren't to the HP limit yet. This will boost low RMP torque more than anything.

Driving tips - patience is key and the line isn't obvious. At Laguna Seca you need to hit every apex curb for a fast lap. Adjust your entry speeds and turn-in aggressiveness until you can get your inside wheels ON the curbing and ease into the power at the apex without flying off the track. With all that weight up front and a TON of power, you need your car to be pointing straight to allow for full throttle without flying off track.

I did this once with no issues and a bit of distance between myself and 2nd place...don't remember lap times.
